We were in E711. First mini past the lifeboats, great location.

When I was on Golden, there was a problem with plumbing on the entire Emerald deck. They kept fixing it, but it kept happening.

Sometimes the toilets would work fine, other times, you could wait several minutes for it to work.

Very frustrating.

Did you know if other cabins had the same problem? If so, did they at least attempt to fix it?

I had no problems on Sapphire in December when I was on the Caribe Deck.

It's the Emerald minis that I am hearing about............

Do they have the $2.99 drink specials in the bars on the Sapphire? They started out from 8:00 pm to closing in inside bars. Later there was a change to 4:00 - 7:00 pm on sea days and 8:00 pm to closing on port days on some ships. I am not asking about the 5:00 - 7:00 pm Platinum, Elite, Suite Lounge with one drink special.

I was not aware of the "flushing" problem in other cabins, however we did encounter the problem in several of the public restrooms.

I'm not sure about the $2.99 drink specials. We did enjoy the 2.99 drinks from 5-7 in skywalkers, but that was the platinum, elite, suite lounge. I'll check my patters and see if anything was mentioned.

BTW I brought my iPad and used it successfully in our cabin. However the best time to get online was early morning, otherwise it could be a bit "iffy".

Update for March 22nd

For some reason I could not get any web pages to load last night. It connected and deducted my time but would not load. So I prepared and posted this morning.

The weather in Puerto Vallarta was vary cool compared to the all the other time I have been there. We started our day with a trip to Walmart for water and Gatorade. Then back to the ship to drop off what we did not need for the rest of the day. A lot of passengers also were heading there also. We then hopped a cab to the Malecon downtown area and wondered around for a couple of hours. After we returned to the ship it was naptime for me as the DW watch TV and relaxed. The ship ended up leaving about an hour later that when it was supposed to. I don’t know what the hold up was.

Tonight was Italian night in the dinning room. I had the Veil Scaloppini as most of us at the table. After dinner we went to see the comedy show staring Derrick Cameron. His show was worth the time. He is back on tomorrow night. After the show we went back to our cabin to relax and watch TV.

Day 5 March 23rd

For today we are supposed to arrive in Cabo about noon. To entertain us till then there is Snowball Jackpot Bingo and Adult Wii. There are some Spa “Seminars” also (Sales Pitches). This is day one of two in Cabo. The last tender tonight is 11:00pm. Tender operations we resume at 7:00am tomorrow. From what I understand you can stay ashore over night, but you need to notify the pursers desk before you leave the ship.

As mentioned Derrick Cameron is on tonight and a Magic Show in the Explorers Lounge staring James Michael. M.I.T. plays after James. The wheelhouse Has Extreme playing for those that wants to dance.

IECalCruiser: They do have the $2.99 drink specials in the bars.

CruiznNoony: I have not run into Kelvin bud will keep an eye out for him to see how long he will be on the Sapphire.

You mentioned that Kelvin Joy is your CD. He is our favorite. If you run into him, please ask him how long his contract is with the Sapphire. We would love to have him for our CD for our 28 day LA/Hawaii/Tahiti/LA cruise in October. :D

Thanks for your live thread! If you could let us know if Kelvin Joy will be staying on until May, it would be much appreciated. There are rumors that either Tim Donovan or Lee Childers may be on our April 30 cruise...

Thank you!

Thursday March 24th Day two in Cabo

To start yesterday I had problem getting on the net, but did get the post up. We went ashore and walked the pier area and went thru the mall. It looks like they are building an out doors theater at the dock area. It looks almost done. We then headed back to the ship to relax. It way a vary cool day also, I have never been down to Mexico when it has been this cool. I almost put on a lite coat. We went to Sabatini’s for dinner. Our reservation was for 8:30pm. That was the earliest we could get. We went on the first day after dinner and the earlier spots were booked already. I hate to eat so late but the DW likes Sabatini’s. It was 10:30 by the time we finished.

It was a pleasant night staying in the bay at Cabo, all the city lights shinning. We woke to to the view of lands end. Today we will be here till 2:00pm then set sail back to LA. I don’t think we will go ashore again today but stay on board and relax and read.

Things to do on board today are Mahjong players get together at 9:30am. At 11:00 the matinee movie is “The Wonder OF It All” staring Buzz Aldrin & Alan Bean. Also at 11:00 is Morning Trivia, other things before noon are Adult Ping Pong, Taboo, Paddle Tennis, and WII @ sea.

In the afternoon there is Afternoon Melodies, Pictionary, a Lind Dance Class, Ryder Cup Gulf Challenge, a Maritime lecture, the final rehearsal for the Princess Pop Choir, Ice Carving domo, an 18-20 get together, Music Trivia, and also Afternoon Trivia.

The afternoon movie is ‘Red’ staring Bruce Willis & Morgan Freeman

In The Princess Theater tonight we have “ I Got The Music” Explorer has Magic Showtime with James Michael. Club Fusion has the “Marriage Game Show” and the Pop Star heat one.

Funinla: Kelvin did just come on board on March 19, I have been trying to run into him to see how long he will be on board I will post as soon as I find out.

Well time to go eat see ya later.

Thanks for your posts. We like to dance in the evening. How is the group in the

Wheelhouse? Is that the only place to dance to live music?

We are renting a car in Cabo and driving up to La Paz, with a stop in San Jose. Our

cruise leaves on April 9.

We are also currently onboard the Sapphire. This is still our favorite

ship! The food has been excellent, the service a bit spotty in Anytime

Dining. The weather was chilly the first day or two, which is to be expected, but it was colder than usual. Puerto Vallarta was 80 degrees,

not 60. The thermometer in our room registered 74 degrees. The ship

channel inaccurately reflected the temp as 61 degrees for 3 days. It

was perfect weather in P.V. It's been nice docking in Cabo for two

days! Beautiful 80 degrees.

Shows are far and few between compared to the olden days, but the entertainment has been good. Lots of teenagers/young adults on board.

Skywalkers was packed the other night. Lots of children on board.

Lots of Californians and Canadians on board. DH, myself and my mom

keep commenting how polite everyone is. We have a group on board

from Japan too. It's been a wonderful cruise and can't wait to

go on the Sapphire again, hopefully in July to Alaska:):)

Bob, we had trouble with a funky urine odor in our cabin's bathroom on the last cruise we took. I requested that our cabin steward replace the shower curtain and that made all the difference. Maybe its a mildew kind of smell.

We did go ashore today for a walk. There was a cool breeze blowing so it kept it nice at the marina. We headed back to the ship for lunch and I enjoyed some pizza. The wind on deck was too cool for me so we headed back to our cabin to relax. The DW and I feel a sleep and when I woke up discovered that we had missed our first seating dinner. The wife was not feeling well so I headed up to the Trident Grill for a burger and a coke. Now that we are at sea it is vary windy and cold out. I am going to go to the magic show at 10:30 in the Explorers Lounge I will let you know how it was tomorrow.

Casavaha: At times they do have live music in in Explorers and Club Fusion.

murdy: I only get the smell when the lid to the toilet is up

A Princess employee told me that Kelvin will be on our Golden cruise to Alaska on May 14th so I think he is switching ships pretty quickly. We are on the Sapphire May 7th Coastal (YIPEEEE LOVE THAT SHIP) and from what I understand he will already be gone by then. I was hoping to get him for both sailings. Dunno.

I still can't figure out who'll be the CD on May 7th on Sapphire so if someone on the Sapphire now can please ask him who will follow him on the Sapphire, I would be very grateful!

Bob, enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Have been on several cruises where I smelled that urine smell...it was not the toilet.. I lifted the shower curtain up and the bottom part of the curtain had a very strong urine smell!!..I guess some people urinate in the shower while taking a shower!! I asked the steward to change the shower curtain..he did and the smell was gone....try changing the shower curtain and see if that helps..

Wow, been on the Sapphire at least 5 times with no smells ever. But it's good to know that if I do smell it when I board in 6 weeks, I can try the curtain switch trick.

on the last three cruises I have had to have them change the shower curtain because of visible mold, the last time the smell was so bad I had to put it in a bag and hand it to the steward. Once it was replaced no more issues.

Whoever the CD is as of apr 30 and May 7 my cruise will be great

Our friends are also on this cruise - his first cruise and he is really enjoying it.

It is Spring Break here in British Columbia so that might explain a lot of kids from here. I do believe Ontario had their spring break last week though.

Thanks for the live thread I am enjoying it.

March 25th

It has been hard to get this up today with the rough seas.

This was the last day of our Mexico cruise. Today we went to the last lecture “New Ocean Technologies. We stayed for about half of it. From there we went to the last Art Auction so we went to it, Only stayed for half of that. Some of the other things today were Acupuncture – The secret to Chinese Herbs, Texas Hold’em tournament, Family Karaoke, Taboo, a $500.00 slot tournament, Ryder Golf tournament, Navigation presentation, Wine Tasting, Wii@ sea, The finale on the cruise scavenger hunt and afternoon trivia.

The weather was clear but vary windy. The temp was in the lower 60s all day. There were some tough folks out sunning on deck. Others were up there in coats. At around 5:15pm the Captain announced that we were running a little slow with the head wind and waves. He was hoping to make LA at 7:00am but said we may be a little later. If the winds let up some we should be on time. The ship info channel said 71/2’ to 12’ waves, but it did not seem or look that rough to me.

Tonight’s show is “Piano Man” We have seen this a few times so we will skip that. In Explorers Lounge is the Farewell Trivia Challenge at 8:30pm Then Dancing to M.I.T. Club Fusion Has Ballroom Music at 7:00pm, then Karaoke at 7:45pm, Family Feud with the cruise staff at 9:30pm and ended with the Pop Star Final.

All in all it has been a great cruise, and are looking forward to our next one. I will finish off tomorrow when I get home with my last post.

Thank you for taking the time to post this live from thread. I (we) will be Taking this same cruise the 30th of April. Was there any thing you wish you had done, but missed or would of done differently? My fear is the week goes by so quick, I want to plan carefully and not miss a thing.

Do you know any of the details about this tournament? Entry fee? How many players? Start time? Etc.?

Does the casino spread poker throughout the cruise??

Thanks.

Hi, if I can chime in on your question, and as a poker player too, they have an electronic poker table that has no dealer (at least on the Golden it is that way) and when you get a few players you have a game. All chip movements are done on the monitor in front of you and the cards flip up When you cup your hands on the screen. Kinda strange to get use to but it works. The rake is 10 percent so not a cheap table to sit at. I too am going on the 30th of April, see you at the table.
