Thank you for your response... just the info needed to have my TA change our cabins from port to starboard on Monday..

Jef

We docked with the Starboard side at the pier on every port on this cruise. . . But I am sure it can change at the Capatains discretion.

All lifeboats need to be lowered on occasion, and they will test during port stops mostly intead of home ports.

Thank you very much for your reply too... Will go with the Starboard side... did the ship dock in the old Old San Juan docks downtown or across the bay?

In both St. Thomas and Labadee, the Starboard side always faces the island. St. Martin, there are two long finger piers, holding up to six ships (not likely in June) so you never know which side faces where. San Juan, the ship ties up facing the land so either side is OK, but the view from the Starboard side is better.

Based on what you want, I would go Starboard, in front of the hump.

If starboard faces the islands in St. Thomas and St. Martin, I would opt for port side to get the view of the bay, the sailboats, yachts, etc.

St. Martin view of the island is a horrible view, it actually looks at a trash dump. In St. Thomas the port view is of Sr. Frogs and shops, but the bay view is fabulous, tons of activity to see. You see the activities of the sailboats, yachts, seaplanes, and in the distance you can look to the town, the yacht harbors.

But, as said before, you never know which side the ship will dock.

Thank you for this insight. I was beginning to feel pangs of regret having booked my family into port side cabins for this itinerary.

Hope that you get the view of the St. Thomas bay. It is really nice watching all of the sailboats and yachts and seaplanes.

The Wi-Fi locations are very good on Deck 14, The Pool deck, and Windjammer. There should be coverage on the Royal Promenade, but I could only get a weak signal. The Package Prices (posted earlier) is the way to go for the best price. . .Wi-Fi is much faster than the Internet Cafe (Non-Wi-Fi). I use my iPad for viewing and posting to this thread, but I have to use my Laptop when posting photos. . .

Thanks for the very nice comments. . .

It appears that the WiFi transponder is at the top of the ship, which makes sense. So I guess I'll always trundle my Laptop/Netbook up to the highest point of any ship in the future.

I really feel sad that our cruise is almost over which shows what a good job you do taking us along on these trips.

Good to see you are cruising next Jan and May, bracketing tax season, when I don't have time to pay attention to CC.

Radio, thanks so much for the posts! If you posted this info earlier, sorry for asking again, but the picture from the GPS, is that a shot from your iPad? If so, what app are you using?

Never mind on previous question, I found the post saying it was a software package and not an app.

For those who were wondering about the beaches in Labadee, Adrenaline Beach is where the zipline is. It is rocky and not meant for swimming. Barefoot Beach is the "private" beach for suite guests and some lucky non-suite guests. I have been on this beach, but that was before it became private. It was very nice. Nellie's Beach is the section just beyond Barefoot Beach. This is the one we were on our cruise this past January. I have attached a photo of it. We liked it becasue it was a good size, you could get into the water without worrying about what you're stepping on, and it was pretty centrally located. Oh, and you can also go to the Old Bell Tower and look at part of the Barefoot Beach area and see what you're missing. Columbus Beach is where the water activities are located. It is a larger beach, which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. Whenever we go to Labadee, Columbus Beach seems to be where most of the families go.

VERY helpful! Thanks for the info. Nellie's Beach looks like a winner.

I was on the Celebrity Silhouette in Saint Maarten when the Exployer of the Seas came in. Did they ever find out who painted names on the back of the ship? I will try to enlarge my picture of the rear of Exployer but you can't make out the writings... someone painted names on it.

As for the painting of the ship, I watched as the maintenace workers took care of the "rust" spots. They painted two different chemicals on the ships side and it erased the "rust" marks.

Remember when Radio and Trainman had 2 'LIVE' threads running on CC at the same time from different ships? How awesome was that??

I remember that from last year, "Live" reports from Allure and Oasis. Radio with his pictures of the ship at the ungodly time of 5 AM......and Trainman with his "food porn" shots.

Is there any where a couple can go for some private time on Labadee

Just a quick thank you to Radio for your reports and pictures. We are just finishing up our packing as we get ready to hop onto the Explorer while you are getting off. Your reports are a great way to prepare for our turn.

Thank you, again.

Jim and Karen
