east coast gets cheated again

There was a thread on here saying it was Bermuda's fault but who knows what is really going on.

Due to the bigger newer Breakaway, NCL was able to hog up all of the prime time sail dates. Also, the Bermuda authority tends to limit the ships. They should build another pier for ships

DH wanted a Gin and Tonic.

I told him that I wouldn't order him a "Swizzle Inn, Swagger Out" sweatshirt unless he shared a pitcher of Swizzles with me.

Went there with younger couple and we had one and they had one. Than they had another.

Lucky for all of us that the bus stop was accross the street.icon7.gif

I drank most of ours since DH didn't like it, which left me swaggering across the street to the bus stop as well. Next stop was Gibbs Lighthouse....still didn't have enough swizzle courage to step out onto the exterior walkway. :D

I love Bermuda....does anyone know why CCL doesn't have a Bermuda run?? All those ships and no Bermuda season??

i remember the brand ambassador saying he was going to check with some svp guy named terry thornton.

he stated that the bermuda government had long term contracts with two other cruise lines that gave them preferential berthing rights. they could only get a berth when those other companies were not using it. so, during peak season, there were are not many options for them to get a berth, and the ships were too big to dock at the other two sites.

the pride was able to visit there in the summer of 2003, but only with midweek sailings, which didn't go over well with those that cruised carnival. we thought it was perfect, except that bermuda is closed on sundays.

didn't matter, though, as we were docked for three days. and sunday made for a good beach day at horseshoe.

however, the casino and the shops had to be closed for that period of time as well.

The Glory has 12 cruises to Boston. That counts as a homeport in my book.

I would sure love San Diego to have those 12 cruises come May.

I stand corrected on the number. Apologies.

I agree that the west coast is being cheated out of availability of cruises. We cruised Splendor out of Long Beach last April. It was an awesome cruise; my second favorite after Miracle.

I booked glory this spring out of Boston. I think this is a odd year. I do not think 1023 will see a ship in Boston. I bet it is going Europe. I hope I am wrong. I wold also love longer Caribbean Itinerary's. The lack of air fare make sit so affordable. And we have free secured parking downtown. Even with a cab cost we are making out

My husband, his mom, his three sisters, their husbands, and I are taking this "Sibling Cruise" at the end of June. Only one couple will have to fly; the rest of us are withing easy driving distance. Though it will be our first non-Caribbean cruise, it should be a blast.

so in the meantime, i need to hop on board the competition.

A few of my friends took "the competition" (NCL) to Bermuda, and absolutely hated it - mostly the free-style dining, and especially the food! I was really hoping to see more Bermuda sailings from CCL. Guess a land vacation may be in my future.;) I wouldn't even mind a mid-week summer sailing to Bermuda. I would also use Sunday as a beach day. Nice and relaxing.

nah. i meant rccl.

although, i may consider ncl when the new ship arrives, and only if it gets good reviews from non biased people.

If you consider NY getting a larger ship with capacity for more passengers cheated then I guess they are.

On the flip side, maybe the folks who don't like the Miracle's class of ship and prefer the larger size will be more inclined to cruise from NY?

I like both sizes, larger and smaller. But I don't cruise out of NY because even living in NJ it's much easier to get to the Pride in Baltimore. The two hours it takes to fight NYC traffic to get to the ship, plus paying twice as much to park in NY at the port, makes the trip to Baltimore much more enjoyable.

AND Baltimore is a fantabulous place!

What I still do not understand is how come they had so many sailing to Bermuda out of NY on the Miracle in 2011 and than suddenly in 2012 have 0?? What could have changed?

that would be a new question for the brand ambassador.

what was weird was reading they neglected to tell bermuda they weren't coming back. i forget the source of that tidbit.

shouldn't be a feather when ccl does want to be serious about cruising there.
