What's your favorite Carnival Review thread on CC?

Recommended Posts

Soooo happy to see people still posting here! I have started MammaSkittles review and am loving it so far.. I was laughing so hard that I started crying. :-)

I think her description of "Omelet man" is a classic.

I hope someone takes and posts a photo.

OMG, I think I've confirmed that fact that I have a very serious cruise critic addiction, after reading through this thread I just discovered I have already read almost every single review that has been listed. My faves have all already been listed, but I will keep checking back for new ones. I've just booked the Liberty so now I'm checking everyone signatures looking for Liberty reviews!

Well, I enjoyed your review very much! Also liked the ones by scrapphappylady. Here is her latest:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1630907

This one was also very detailed with tons of photos. Of course, you have to skip through the first couple of posts of the writer as a kid, but it's worth it:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1550338

For a laugh, the ones by vanislandcruisers are good. He has links to other reviews at the end of his signature. Here is one: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1001975

CruiseVacationQueen also puts in lots of detail: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1254452

Also enjoyed this one by Celebrat: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1047076

I love Hollybelle's reviews and photos too: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=989561

She also posts on the wdwmagic.com website. Her Disney cruise review is here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-dream-is-a-wish-your-heart-makes-a-march-2011-disney-wedding-honeymoon-trip-report.740187/

I will say that what I love most about a review is one that is completed. I hate to get involved in a review and be left hanging (you know who you are, CC members who do this!). I know life and everything gets in the way, but I try to have most of my review written before I begin posting so I know I can get it done!!

Also, spelling and paragraphs make a huge difference. I have seen some reviews with lots of great information, but the lack of paragraphs and/or spelling errors just made them really rough to read!!

And, finally a blog with several Carnival cruise reviews (I think she used to post on CC, but she included so much of her pre-cruise vacation, people got snarky, but I love her writing): http://sunglassesandumbrelladrinks.blogspot.com/

What a good idea for a thread! I look forward to seeing what others recommend!!

Mine would have to be that guy and his family who did a B2B2B2B cruise. Or was it a B2B2B??

Sorry, I'm on my lunch break and can't find the thread, but I'm sure a lot of you know who I;m talking about. :)

I second that.

Other that that my favorite is a review thats not in the forums. Its a complaint review and it was tragically funny. They thought the gym was supposed to be underwater facing out from the bow. I have no idea what ship they thought they booked. Here is their review. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=98687

Some snippets - Bear in mind Imagination has NONE of these things and does not claim to.

"The pictures of the "fitness center" show that it is on the bottom of the ship looking out into the ocean from underwater was very incorrect. Not only did it not have windows, it was near the top of the ship!"

"Seaside theater" where we were supposed to be able to watch movies, tv, sports, etc, did not exist aboard our ship."

"Heavily advertised was a "steakhouse", so "popular" that it was recommended that you make reservations before your embarktion. Reservations for what? There was nothing CLOSE to a "steakhouse" on board."

"The "water park" was just a fraction of what was advertised in both the video testimonials, and on the website. Promised were two giant water slides, that was a lie. A giant bucket dumping "300 gallons of water on people", also a lie. The picture is a straight up fabrication compared to what we experienced on the boat we were on."

"We were promised an adult pool, the "serenity pool". That didn't exist"

Another great review, but it's of a RCI cruise: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1630907

Another very detailed Carnival review. Also covers pre- and post- cruise FL attractions in detail: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1413440

Great Carnival review with a very captivating day in Belize...did they make it back to the ship...you will have to read to find out!! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1092851

(Straightening the hem on my dress and stepping up to the mic) "Um hello. Good to see you all again."

EEEE! Thanks for saying that my reviews are among the "best of". WOW! You guys are a talented group, and to think that I'm among you...Sheesh!

Due to a downturn in the economy, we haven't been cruising as much lately. So, I'm not-so-active on the boards anymore, since I'm not doing research on an upcoming cruise. Our next big trip: Germany, next summer, land-only.

So...thanks again for the kudos.

CeleBrat

PS--So sorry for committing the cardinal sin of not completing my last review. I HATE when people do that, and then I went and did it. Had a good reason--my notebook with day-by-day info got misplaced. Never did find it, and suspect that my daughter took it to use as an art journal, and it is somewhere in the depths of her room.

Wow, thanks. It was nice to have a couple of people mention my reviews. I am enjoying this thread and finding some reviews I hadn't read.

Blessed With 12 had a very good review and was extremely inspiring. As pcrum mentioned a few posts back, their adventure in Belize had you on the edge of your seat the entire time you were reading it.

Thanks for a great thread and for all the suggested reading during this heat wave when I am not going out !

I loved Staceycakes review, too. I have no interest in going to Europe and she made me want to book a cruise to Europe right away!

And the new review from b2b2b is amazing.

I have bookmarked this Alaskan review. Her pictures look just like postcards.

Here is the incredible Alaskan review done by LambKnuckles.

From one seasoned cruiser to another Gary; Thank-you so much.....It was an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE to meet you and Mary Ann on the Miracle!!!!

And absolutely share your sentiments on all the GREAT Review Writers on this Board!!!

Backstage Passes????.........Dee will be so jealous!!!...Enjoy the Concert!!!

Sure hope we get to cruise together again SOON!!!

Jim

Hi Jim, As (bad)luck would have it we're both cruising near the same time in Dec 12 and Oct 13......We might get a quickie inbetween, but let's see if we can set our calenders for 2014. Maybe we could get all these fabulous review writers on the same boat? (just sayin)

The concert was GREAT!!!(I'm in the middle of my review now, and needed a break). I got to talk a quick minute to Steven, Gave Joe a COOL present. Mary Ann got her armed signed by Steven. He drew a dripping heart, and autographed it. Everyone who she showed it to said she should get it inked in. Thank god she didn't, but it was cool for a couple of days.

Another vote for the Geek Family - great and funny review!

Had to comment here campdaan.....I sailed with Vanislandcruisers on our last cruise, and Froufie was at our MDR table the cruise before that. Both well seasoned cruisers, fun people, and excellent review writers!

Thanks Gary - I must say your 'missing the boat' review was quite riveting and very well written as are all your reviews - was great sailing with you and Maryann and hope we meet up again one day! :D

{{{{Froufie}}}}....easily our favorite tablemate EVER... We're pretty jealous about your transatlantic trip aboard the Breeze. We'll be on her Dec 8th for the St. Thomas(Virgin Island.....hehe), Tortola, Antigua, and Nassau. 8 days, 4 stops. Right now, we've got Vegas in 2 weeks(from today...to celebrate my birthday on the 25th). We're looking for a condo out there. Now is the time to buy.

Hey Froufie, Would you come, if Jim and I set something up for 2014? As of now I have no idea of where/duration, but it's something that could happen.

That's all for now,

Great thread, and good idea for starting it. Now I have a place to come when i do have some extra time(hardly ever). Bookmarked.

Same here! I am on page 8 and have just been DYING laughing. I love how Shakeybeef (his wife) interjects. I showed it to DBF who does NOT read at all. Well, I have just regained control of the laptop because for the last 2 days he has been reading it and laughing uncontrollably at the computer. My new vote is for Delta Hotel's review!

I really liked the angry birds review and of course the B2B2B2 one as well.

I took my 1st cruise on the freedom in February and I read almost all the freedom reviews out there and enjoyed them as well (actually inspired me to write my own review.. in my signature).

Other than that I like reviews that are easy to read -- not one big giant run on paragraph .. my eyeballs have a hard time focusing!!

Wow - awesome pic Gary - and I guess Maryann has washed her arm by now? LOL

Would love to join you and Maryann in 2014 - so far my 'schedule' is not that full ha ha ha. Prefer to cruise in winter of course (end of Jan/early feb or thereabouts) - let me know if and when you have made a choice and I will let you know if I can work it in - how cool would that be???? (as long as you don't miss the boat of course!) :D:D...and I'll try to keep the Breeze in good shape for you!

Thank you sooooooo much to everyone that mentioned me! :) Sorry, but you have to wait 4 more months until my next review. It will include Italy, France, Spain, and possibly Monaco, so it'll be worth the wait. ;)

Let me shout out a few of friends of mine and their reviews, coincidentally all on the Freedom.

Cuted- Anniversary cruise with hubby.

Navybaby1113- She won a ton of ships on a stick. I'm jealous!

Wow guys, thanks :o. I'm seriously blushing reading this thread for the first time.

I'd have to say that Mike and Tracy were my favorites as they inspired me to do the first review. But if I had to pick one review, I have to break the rule and go with our first :p. Definitely something I'll never forget.

Anything written by Tiggerman101. (Especially his Alaska cruise)

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1208096

I sooo second that! His Alaska cruise review made me realize that once I booked the ship and the plane to get there, I can do my own thing, see stuff and not spend a fortune on excursions. I started doing research, and really have been studying, but he gave me the courage to try my own "excursion" on another cruise, and I did and I loved it!

 Just like Chris to toot his own horn LOL (just kidding baby! :p) ... Seriously though, thanks for the "votes"! I'm disappointed a lot of our pictures in our previous ones are now all jacked up due to album setting changes in Picasa, but I added links to the albums themselves at the end of the reviews and also in my signature.

I agree that Mike and Tracy's reviews also are what inspired us, we loved them. I also REALLY enjoyed a Falkcor review of the Pride back in 2009 when I was jsut a CC Stalker - unfortunately I don't have the link to it, and his signature doesn't have the links either :(

I loved the Angry Birds one that did the Liberty - such a cute idea. (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1432424).

ItalianFemmy - yours have the best pics, hands down.

It seems like there's so many others I missed... I think I know what I will be doing to fill up my evenings now! Thanks for this thread!
