I also am wondering if platinum and diamond are currently getting early access to their rooms on ships that don't have FTTF? I'm on the Splendor 9-23 and I just wanted to know whether we can get rid of our carryon's right away. I've tried to look at different threads etc. but I'm still not sure if its implemented fleet wide for plat. and diamond.

John said on his page, the platinum and diamond are only getting early access on the ships that have the FTTF.

Yet there are posters on here that say it has always been a perk. But i have never seen it:rolleyes:

Yep, I fear this one isn't going to go over well.

I'm not really sure what you get for your LOYALTY anymore????

Now you can just pay and basically get all the same perks? HUH?

Under the new plan, your loyalty gets you the same thing but, FREE. That's a $50.00 perk. I think that is pretty good.

Someone brought up to John that there is a diamond on here who said he always goes to his cabin first anyhow to drop his bags off. John basically said that person didn't know how to follow the rules and didn't appreciate him doing that, diamond or not. I was shocked about how upset John seemed to be about the diamond doing it.

That is crazy talk. Now the diamond and platinum will wait longer to get on and off the ship. Just like the VIP program they had...pay for loyalty program.

What a joke!

You did read that the FTTF people are behind you and don't have all your benefits......right?

Interesting. I didn't see that on Carnival's site.

Who said I have the benefit today? ;)

Tryng to look for something good out of the bad. Hopefully, the new revenue stream will help keep fare prices down.

I bought the FTF for our Feb Liberty cruise, I had booked a cheaper stingray tour for HMC just to get off the ship early. I cancelled that and just bought the FTF pass. It will be my first and last one because right after the Liberty we get on The Victory for 5 days and it well be my 10th cruise. My big queston is well they know its my 10th cruise?? Anyone have any info on how I find out?? I don't think anything more or less if people buy the FTF pass. I want it for us, our vacation and thats what I want!! So put that in your pipes and smoke it!! LOL Kidding everyone have a great day!! Lynn

Your B2B is in February. If memory serves, I think Carnival changed the requirements so that it is not necessarily cruise #10 that gets you Platinum benefits. Maybe someone else can confirm that (or confirm that I'm crazy). :D

I'm still hoping they will offer this pass on Magic soon!

I just booked this for our upcoming cruise on the Valor, but I am curious, how do you get to your room early? Every cruise I have been on they have the hallway doors closed and locked and don't open them until 1:30. Is there someplace or someone we have to check in with once we actually get on the ship? Do you get escorted to your room?

Un, yeah your crazy:D... at the start of your 10th (for people grandfathered in ONLY) you are considered platinum. Members under the new rules should receive their new benefits upon the beginning of the cruise that will upgrade them... I think. See below, two comments straight from the Carnival website:

"Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event a Member books a Cruise in which such Member will attain the necessary VIFP Points to reach a new Level during or by the end of such Cruise (a “Crossover Cruise”), CCL may, in its sole discretion, offer such Member the Benefits offered to Members of the higher Level during the Crossover Cruise."

And later in the explanations:

"Guests graduating into a new level during a cruise will receive the benefits of the new level they are graduating into from the beginning of the cruise (e.g. those graduating to Gold on the 3rd day of a 5-day cruise will receive Gold benefits for the entire duration of their cruise)."

So who knows for sure but I bet it is the latter statement...

Then again... Carnival is skilled at screwing up these kinds of things. Cheryl and I are both Diamond, yet one of us was apparently Platinum on our last (Sensation) sailing. Additionally, they neglected to extend an invitation from the Captain as well.

Some things will never change! (BTW - it's not only Carnival which is capable of overlooking things, but they are KING when it comes to not correcting such things after bringing it to their attention, IMHO)!

Now I completely understand and do wish the Capt. had extended something:eek:.

The FAQ's does state that it this way:

“A Special Invitation from the Captain.” Benefit limited to Diamond Member and one guest once per Cruise, subject to Captain’s availability and discretion. No substitution if Benefit is unavailable.

So maybe the Capt. was unavailable? Sure hope not! Anyway you are correct in that it seems they are hardheaded sometimes.

I do love their adding that as a disclaimer. I would imagine that's a handy fall back when they drop the ball. Captain "unavailable" indeed! ;)

Not a biggie anyway really - we would have indicated appreciation of the offer, then likely declined. It's the fact that they did not even contact us to relay the invite or regrets for not offering it! CARNIVAL! :D

This is only my second Carnival cruise so I am no where near Platinum level...that being said, I did book the FTTF program for my Nov 4th cruise on the Valor. Seems like I would use some of the perks and figured I would give it a try. Since I'm skipping the soda package this time, I figured I could spend the money elsewhere.

None.

As of yet... and they may not. Since it's a "trial" it could go fleetwide or disappear, but with the amount of positive's I doubt it will go away. You could see it fleetwide tomorrow or next year or them not mention it and it be available without anyone knowing until you see it available under your sailing. Go figure.

I am about to buy the FTTF for two cabins on our Destiny cruise. The biggest appeal to me is priorty tender because we will be stopping in Grand Cayman. Second biggest appeal is early access to cabins.

Can someone explain this piece of the benefits to me? No Specialty Restaurant on our ship. Thanks!

Dining Reservations

Priority Main Dining Room and Specialty Restaurant reservations.
