BritChickBN1 Posted October 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2012 The itinerary for Jewel Cruises leaving NYC on Oct 21, Oct 28 and Nov 4th has been modified. Per NCL: In order to conduct maintenance on the Azipods the ship will arrive in Nassau a day early on Wednesday evening and overnight in Nassau on Wednesday & Thursday. The Jewel will depart for New York on Friday morning.
WaldosPepper Posted October 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2012 Are they eliminating GSC from those itineraries, or will they still visit all three ports? If they're not eliminating any stops, this is a nice score for those onboard those sailings.

We will leave GSC at 5:00p.m. and arrive in Nassau at 10:00p.m. that same night.
LadyShiva Posted October 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2012 The 10/28/12 Jewel cruise just got the same email: Please be aware that, in order to conduct some routine ship maintenance, the port call to Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas will now be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. instead of 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as originally scheduled. Also, as it is necessary to conduct this maintenance, the port call to Nassau, Bahamas will now be an overnight call, arriving at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31st and departing at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st or once maintenance has been completed. Norwegian Cruise Line recommends to all passengers that they be back onboard the ship by midnight on Thursday.
Snowrose Posted October 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2012 The idea of the change scared me, until I realized that meant we'd be in Nassau longer. Yay! :D

bob brown Posted October 12, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I guess the casino will have to close while in port....big loss for NCL?
njhorseman Posted October 12, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I guess the casino will have to close while in port....big loss for NCL? I have a vague recollection of once being on a cruise years ago that overnighted in Nassau, and I recall the casino was allowed to open after a certain hour...perhaps 10 pm. I'm not really sure about this however...it could have been somewhere else.
rvsullivan Posted October 12, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Casino cannot open at any time in the Bahamas.
Vitality08 Posted October 12, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I've overnighted in Nassau on two separate cruise lines (although neither was NCL, and both times the casino opened after 7pm)

Snowrose Posted October 12, 2012 #17 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Keep on the main streets;) I was reading a review on TripAdvisor and they were saying something about the shops closing at 6PM? Anyone know if that's true?
legaldoll Posted October 12, 2012 #18 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I spoke with NCL today, as I am on the 10/21 sailing. The casino on the ship WILL be opened in the evenings while docked in the Bahamas. Bermuda is the country that does not permit the casino to be open while in port.
