Candleonwater Posted January 8, 2013 #301 Share Posted January 8, 2013 One of your photos caught my attention. In the Solarium, have they swapped out ALL of the upright chairs? They had a row of them backing up to the pool. Dislike the brown cushioned lounge chairs.
dixieva Posted January 8, 2013 #302 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Thanks for the info on the new slot machines in the casino! I might have been known to spend a little time in there:rolleyes::D! And we love the casino in San Juan. It's always been friendly to us so hopefully it will take kindly to you too!
Oshawapilot Posted January 8, 2013 #303 Share Posted January 8, 2013 When you see him next, Maybe give captain Gus a nudge-nudge about how many people are inquiring about the Freestyle machines here at CC. ;) In our group alone it'll be a deciding factor on at least 3-4 soda passes sold, or not. Sandie Posted January 8, 2013 #304 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Radio, Once again we offer our appreciation to you for taking the time to post such great information and photos as you take us along on your cruise. We will be sailing on Feb. 4th and have a couple of questions. In one of your photos - I think it was during the Captain's Welcome Aboard Party - there was a group of musicians in the background. As far as I could tell, they looked like the Everygreen Trio that was onboard Enchantment when we sailed last February. Are they onboard this year? How long will Capt. Gus be onboard? Will he be there for the Feb. 4th sailing? In our edocs they mention 3 types of clothing suggestions - formal, smart casual, & casual. Are those suggestions being followed onboard? Is there ice cream in the Park Cafe? Thanks Radio!! The weather here at home (we live north of Baltimore) is lovely - close to 60 today. The forecast for Denver on Saturday for the Ravens game is 10-15 degrees - brrrrrrrr. Sandie

It should start the first week in February as Captain Gus suggested. 2 will be in the Winjammer, 1 will be outside of the Windjammer near the Coffee station, and will be near the Ben and Jerrys kisok. There is NO Ice Cream in the Park Cafe, but you can get Ice Cream each evening in the Windjammer Cafe from 6:30 -9:30. The dress code is being followed by most passengers but the suggestions are not being followed by many passengers. Radio ;);) .
Rare Radio Posted January 9, 2013 Author #307 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Here are a few more. . .More pics tomorrow (I hope) Radio Celebrity Silhouette pulled in about a half hour before we did. Enchantment of the Seas approaches the pier slowly. . . Welcome to San Juan ! I went up to the top level (Level 9 Pool) of the Sheraton to get a few pics. ValleyGirl610 Posted January 9, 2013 #309 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Thanks for all the great info & pics Radio! How does the new outdoor movie screen look? My family & I will be sailing on the Enchantment in March for the first time and my son is looking forward to playing basketball while cruising. There is mixed info on RCL's website. Would you happen to know if there is actually a basketball court onboard? Thanks again!

cruisin4thedeepblue Posted January 9, 2013 #311 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Radio Thanks again for all the great updates and photos. One question tho. I see on the menus that there is no mention of any kind of ice cream or sherbert. Can you still get those at dinner? We are used to having a nice desert on a particular evening but also a scoop of ice cream on occasions. This would not be good if they do not offer ice cream anymore at dinner with those very tasty cookies! I am glad they offer escargot every evening tho!:D We were on her in May. Had such a nice time on her we came back. Out of 20 plus cruises this is the first time we have cruised on the same ship twice.:o

Oshawapilot Posted January 9, 2013 #315 Share Posted January 9, 2013 When you buy the beverage package your tumblers are RFID enabled to interact with the machines. You put your tumbler into the machine, it "reads" the chip on the bottom of the cup and activates the machine. Select the beverage you want, press dispense, and your cup fills up. The choices of flavours are almost endless. You can only fill once every 15 minutes. The machines are interconnected between each other across the ship so just going to another machine doesn't work. We LOVED LOVED LOVED these machines on Explorer, hence why I've been so vocal about them in this thread - we are sailing on Enchantment in March. Radio, thanks for the update on the machines via the captain - so very glad to hear they will be installed before our sailing! I'm surprised to see the exterior pics still showing a lot of hull rust - I would have figured that they would have done a lot more work on the ship during the refit, but the more I read your review the more I think I'm starting to realize that this was more of a "spruce up" versus a full blown refit. Thanks again, enjoying all your updates immensely! I'm getting a good laugh out of your coffee related comments - from one coffee addict to another, I raise a hot cup of Starbucks in your honor! :D

fishin' musician Posted January 9, 2013 #319 Share Posted January 9, 2013 RadioThanks again for all the great updates and photos. I am glad they offer escargot every evening tho!:D Last week it was offered, but never available. They substituted a strange scallop dish served in the escargot plate that sort of looked like escargot. It was not very good.

JMG Posted January 9, 2013 #323 Share Posted January 9, 2013 I'm surprised to see the exterior pics still showing a lot of hull rust - I would have figured that they would have done a lot more work on the ship during the refit, but the more I read your review the more I think I'm starting to realize that this was more of a "spruce up" versus a full blown refit. :D It had to take a lot of time to redo all the exterior staterooms. We had a JS and our cabin steward told us that they did an 80% refurb on those staterooms. Totally redid the bathroom,(tub, toilet, sink, countertop, floor, towel bars), new carpet...everything new except the wood cabinetry in that stateroom. Redoing the Centrum had to also take lots of man hours and there was no carpet in the Centrum at 1pm on 12/15, the day we boarded ship. Redid the Crown Lounge to add the CL and DL. Built 16 new staterooms with 16 new bathrooms, ....I guess you can call all of that "spruce up" but it sure meant a lot of rebuilding various parts of the interior of the ship. I think time, labor and $$$ prevented them from doing the exterior. They were repainting lots of the exterior areas as we cruised but that is SOP on any ship. mwenger Posted January 9, 2013 #324 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Really do appreciate the updates and especially from Radio while on vacation. The pictures of the EOS docked in Puerto Rico make her look so small next to the big ship. I cannot wait to board on January 26 and with Radio's postings I am really getting excited. Rare Radio Posted January 9, 2013 Author #325 Share Posted January 9, 2013 Hello everyone. . . Welcome to Day 5 of "LIVE" from Enchatment of the Seas I am in beautiful St.Thomas, USVI. The weather is beautiful and the skies are clear. I am currently reporting from the open air lobby of Marriott's Morningstar Beach Resort. I stopped for a little while over at Sapphire Beach, but there were a lot of clouds and it looked like it was going to pour. . .Silly me. . .I should have known that the sun would come out soon. The bad news is that the Internet connection is still shut down. There are several techs working on the server, and they expect to have it repaired today. I hope so. . .i have a lot of pics to post. I will be back to the ship by 4 and provide an update. . . Thanks for tuning in. Radio ;);) .
