Exactly what I'm trying to do - wont buy the package if the machines aren't installed.

I had seen it was scheduled for December as well...we were disappointed. :(

I'm glad I found out here on CC that they wouldn't be there for our cruise. I did skip purchasing the soda package for that reason.

I haven't seen whether they are planning to put the machines onto the Grandeur. (Which is of interest to me as a Baltimore area resident.)

Is it a certain class of ships that have the covered solarium? Are they all retractable? ...

The Vision and Radiance class all have covered solariums. Not sure about Vision class, but on Radiance class the cover is retractable. On our two Radiance class cruises, the cover was never retracted, and many report here that they seem to be in the covered position all the time.

The Vision class ships also have the retractable roofs.

While on our Rhapsody Alaska cruise, they were doing some sort of work and using a strong chemical that required open ventilation....I was going to go to the Park Cafe but it was freezing in there!

I am on this sailing; it is the middle part of our B2B2B.

The Norovirus was NOT rampant last week but for precaution the deep cleaning was done. No one I knew got it. The ship was truly taken to zero count for the duration of the cleaning.

We have had access to the CL and Dl without a problem.

The outsides have had the same redo as Radios balcony room...insides not.

RADIO, if you see me in the CL, I have some info that might help you.

I know, I just like ordering and having the "pass" printed on my sea pass rather than a sticker.

Obviously it won't REALLY affect my cruise one way or another.

You could just wait and see. They were selling the packages onboard on embarkation day.

Woah!!! Yayyyy! Been away from cruisecritic for a while. Found out I was pregnant shortly after my last cruise currently holding a sleeping 5 month old. Aching to go on a cruise. May go on Monarch next month as it may be a bit much to take baby on a longer cruise right now. So glad that you're doing a live thread, Radio!!!thank you!!!

Hi Radio ... enjoying your live review on Enchantment ! :) .... will be sailing on her Feb. 25th next month :)

Hello everyone. . .We left Cruise Maryland promptly at 4PM. After all the talk about late debarkation and extensive sanitization I thought we may be leaving later.

We left on time though and we should be able to be at the Pilot Station in Cape Henry where the pilot leaves Enchantment, and we will be in open water. There was no sail away party out on the decks, but I didn’t think there would be as after all. . .it is January. There was a sail away celebration in the Centrum on decks 4/5 with the Cruise Director (Luke Aerowsmith) and DJ Lucian.

I had a great meal at Chops tonight, and I was able to catch a little of the Welcome Aboard show in the Orpheum Theater. After this post, I may head down to Casino Royale on Deck 5 just to see if there are any machines that are calling my name. . .

After that I may hit the racks, as today has been kind of a long day, and I guess that usually works out that way on the first day of any cruise. Hmmm. . .I could get another Starbucks Americano. . .that should keep me awake a little longer.

Tomorrow will be a sunny day at sea for us, as we will spend the whole day heading south in the Atlantic Ocean. I am sure there will be plenty of activities (mostly inside) and I have our Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle to look forward to at 10 AM.

We are currently moving pretty quickly south down the Chesapeake Bay at about 21.6kts. We have to keep a good speed as we still have 1298nm until we get to San Juan, PR. It is very cold out tonight (36F) but the wind is not too bad.

Here are a few pics from Sail away . . .more pics tomorrow !

Thanks for tuning in !

I guess it depends on what "rampant" means. On Friday at the Enchantment discussion in the main theater, Capt Gus stated that the CDC had been alerted as they had crossed the 1.5% threshold earlier in the week and on subsequent days he consistently mentioned in his daily addresses that more people had been to the infirmary for gastro issues. I also read a CC review from the previous week that stated many were sick, the entrance to the theater smelled of vomit and they witnessed someone puking in a trash can on embarkation day. I hope you have a healthy last leg of your trip.

Hello everyone !

Today has been a very calm and relaxing day. The sun tried to sneak out for a little bit, but the skies have been cloudy and grey. The seas however, have been unusually smooth - it is almost like we are in a lake. There is very little roll and very little pitching. We still have about 900nm to go. We are currently about 400 miles east of Charleston, SC.

I started off this morning by having several cups of coffee. I would like to start off by saying the coffee on the ship is wonderful. I enjoyed the Windjammer coffee, Park Café coffee, Diamond and Concierge lounge coffee and especially the Starbucks at Café Latte-tudes.

I went to the port and shopping talk this morning at 10AM and as you know, the port and shopping guide talks mostly about the recommended stores. There is not much discussion about port transportation, geography or history.

I went to our Meet & Mingle up in the Viking Crown lounge. There was about 50 people from our roll call that were able to come. Our CD, Luke, was the host and raffled off several prizes for the group. He seems to be a very friendly guy and he encouraged all the Cruise Critic members to mingle and get to know each other. I met a lot of friendly people up there and it was nice to put together a name with a face.

After lunch I decided to relax in my cabin for a bit and “watch the news.” That watching of the news took about 2 hours and I can tell you that there’s nothing better than taking a nap - oops, I mean watching the news while at sea. I feel refreshed now and I might be able to stay awake a little later tonight to attend the Captain’s Gala, formal night, and the first production show, “Stage to Screen” in the Orpheum Theatre.

Here are a few pics from today.

More pics later. . .

Thanks for the nice comments. . . And thanks for tuning in !

Hi Brian, thanks for the nice comments. To get the "My Location" pics is very simple. I use a Garmin GPSmap 76CSx and connect it to my laptop with a USB cable. This provides coordinates to my navigation software (DeLorme Street Atlas). I then upload that photo to my server and post it to Cruise Critic.

Thanks for tuning in.

Thanks, but I already know there are no freestyle machines right now, but if you look at the attached, you will see that she was scheduled to get them in December, and I'm just curious if they have an updated date - fingers crossed they they get installed before our cruise at the end of march.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. On the Explorer last month, our card wouldn't work from time to time in the CL. I just thought maybe they changed things. You would think they would like for us to do the D lounge instead of the CL. Not as costly.....:p

Gwen :)

The two lounges offer identical amenities. One is not more costly than the other.

Thank you for posting the pic's Mark:D Question, If the CL or DL is standing room only can you bring your happy hour drinks into the VCL to get a seat?

Walter

On our Dec cruise, the VCL was used for DL overflow. e went up got our first drink and then found seats in the VCL. (At about 6pm several of the early diners left so seats opened up in the DL.) The DL bartenders offered service but it was very difficult for them to get past the people seated in the DL to wait on those seated in the overflow area. We usually sent someone up to get their attention and they quickly responded carrying as many bottles of wine as they could possibly carry plus any other drink ordered.

The sad thing is that the VCL bartender was standing around doing nothing. He would signal the DL tenders to wait on us but he was not authorized to get us anything from the bar. I am sure that later in the evening he was plenty busy.
