"LIVE" from Enchantment of the Seas / Jan 5, 2013

On our Dec cruise, the VCL was used for DL overflow. e went up got our first drink and then found seats in the VCL. (At about 6pm several of the early diners left so seats opened up in the DL.) The DL bartenders offered service but it was very difficult for them to get past the people seated in the DL to wait on those seated in the overflow area. We usually sent someone up to get their attention and they quickly responded carrying as many bottles of wine as they could possibly carry plus any other drink ordered.

The sad thing is that the VCL bartender was standing around doing nothing. He would signal the DL tenders to wait on us but he was not authorized to get us anything from the bar. I am sure that later in the evening he was plenty busy.

Thank you very much:D Just what I needed to know;)

Radio-I just found your live reports. Great idea. We're going on EOS Feb. 16 and for the first time we're going to have a junior suite. We usually have stayed with inside staterooms. And we booked an aft js so we're really excited. So never having a js, we were wondering if we get any perks having a small suite. And parden my ignorance, but what are D, D+ and the other letters I've seen?

Also since there was a fire in aft of the ship, was wondering if the afts are effected in any way.

Thanks for any info from you or any others on this thread.

Sue,

You are going to love going from an inside to a JS! Hope you don't ever plan on going back to an inside ;)

The only perks for a JS are priority embarkation and debarkation -- this means you get to board with the full suite, Diamond (D), Diamond Plus (D+) people. You do get double C&A (Crown and Anchor Society--RCI loyalty program; hope you've joined) points, too. Sailing in JSs on Mariner, Allure and Oasis helped us become Diamond after only five cruises with RCI.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Thanks Joan. I'm really excited!! We are already C&A members.

One more question-we've left from Baltimore 1 other time. A niece dropped us off and it was a disaster! We thought she could swing by quickly and return to work. We sat in line in the car for almost 2 hours while they let buses, taxis and hotel vans jump in front! GRRRR

This time we're parking. We live in northern VA so we'll drive up and park. Hope it doesn't take us 2 hours to get unloaded!LOL

I guess it depends on what "rampant" means. On Friday at the Enchantment discussion in the main theater' date=' Capt Gus stated that the CDC had been alerted as they had crossed the 1.5% threshold earlier in the week and on subsequent days he consistently mentioned in his daily addresses that more people had been to the infirmary for gastro issues. I also read a CC review from the previous week that stated many were sick, the entrance to the theater smelled of vomit and they witnessed someone puking in a trash can on embarkation day. I hope you have a healthy last leg of your trip.[/quote']

Yes it does depend on the meaning of rampant...some were ill due to first day rough seas.

Ill say no more rather than be challenged.

Mark, Luke was our Cruise director last Nov on the explorer. We loved him. He was always around which is more than I can say for the one we had on the Liberty. Didnt even know who he was until 1/2 thru the cruise. Loved his daily show!

Hello everyone. . .

Today was a great day. It was the first of four full days at sea (two going south, and two going north). I decided to have dinner tonight at the Windjammer. It seems that I didn’t remember that there are three formal nights, and I only packed enough formal attire for one night. No worries, the menu tonight at Windjammer included many items from the main dining room.

Here is some information about the door access to the Diamond Lounge. As a Diamond Plus member, my key will activate the doors on both the Concierge Lounge and the Diamond Lounge. The door to the Diamond Lounge is broken. The Diamond Club Concierge, Jasmin, suggested the door needs to be repaired and to just pull the handle to open the door.

I spoke to Captain Gus Andersson and we chatted for a few moments. We were discussing the new Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. He suggested that they can’t provide a date for them to be installed at this time. The machines are on the ship, but they have not been installed. They are waiting for other parts, plumbing and electrical work to take place. He thought that there would be a total of 3 machines installed.

I was able to make it to the Captain’s Gala and I was also able to catch some of the “Stage to Screen” production show. The singers and dancers are very entertaining and talented.

Here are a few pics from today. Thanks for the nice comments. More pics coming tomorrow!

Good morning everyone. . . Welcome to DAY 3 of “LIVE” from Enchantment of the Seas.

We had to set our clocks ahead last night at 2AM, so even though I am posting at 5:30AM, my body feels like it is 4:30. The ship’s time is now on the Atlantic time zone.

As we are getting closer to the Caribbean, I can already feel that the temperature is much warmer outside than it was at this time yesterday. The forecast for today will be sunny and 69F. We have sailed 721nm since we left Cruise Maryland and we have 649nm to go.

The Compass features many outdoor activities today including the rock wall, pool Olympics and Jump Zone. Yesterday our sea day included many indoor activities.

The new menus have been rolled out and I will post the menus for each night while onboard. It seems that the menus offer many of the traditional favorites as well as some new options. When I sailed Freedom of the Seas in November, I was able to sample many of the menu items throughout the week.

The Park Café opens daily at 6:30AM, so I will be on my way to enjoy a delicious breakfast with a couple of Cruise Critic members, and of course, I have to get some coffee as well.

Here are a few pics from last night and this morning. . .

Thanks for tuning in. . .

We have never had a problem with long lines at Balt. We arrive at the pier around 10:30am, drop off checked bags, park, and have walked right in, checked in and then sit for a little while until boarding started at 11:30. If I remember correctly, there were not many buses at that time. Sounds like you arrived at a peak time.

Radio, loving the review and pic. Hubby is wanting to know what website or program you are using to post your location with the GPS and info. Also he is impressed with the pics. What kind of camera are you using?

Thanks for sharing with us. April will be our first time on the Enchantment. Also hubbys first time in Baltimore and my second. Will feel like first time, since it has been about 16 years.

Thanks again for sharing.

We also have never had a problem boarding. NO long lines. Get to the port around 10:30, check in, sit. The only problem I'd had, in the past was walking up the 5 ramps. I have severe arthritis in both knees. Now we sit with a small group, along the wall that are all taken through the crew door, ground level & up the elevator. Much easier!

How did you arrange to board this way? I have severe asthma and that ramp to board the ship is getting to be too much for me. I hate to ask for wheelchair assistance as I can walk long distances if it's not uphill and dragging a suitcase.

Thanks for the help!

You can probably mention to the person when you check in, but I've always just gone over & sat with them. Last May, I explained to the person in charge of that area, as I felt guilty for sitting there, without a wheelchair.

Sorry to continue to hijack your thread.

Another option is to sit with your "normal" group but when you get to the bottom of the ramp ask the person greating you if you can use the other entry. This is what my mom sometimes does since she has knee and back issues.
