Silversea/Regent Regular Booked first Seabourn 3/30

Past cruises for me have been on all 3 sizes of Silversea shipss (not the expedition) and both sizes of Regent ships and then two mass market.

I just booked the Legend 3/30 for 4 of us - my husband's parents (69 & 82) and us (50/51). They have never done any luxury trip but have done Celebrity concierge class and have sailed a lot on Holland America including a 68 day cruise and last year's world cruise. They also have done a lot of river cruising on Viking and have traveled on Globus.

This is a sailing for Easter and my husband's and my 20th anniversary (April 4).

I've read every review and viewed every photo I can find. If others have read my reviews in either the threads or the review section, you know they are detailed, and I also do a blog on luxurycruiseandland.com. I like to be informed but am also looking for having a new discovery, too.

My husband and I have been to all ports on this itinerary. My in-laws have not. We are used to cruises that have one night longer in port (usually Antigua) than others. This itinerary has no sea days.

Given that, how much enrichment will they do or activities? We love trivia. My father-in-law was a music professor for 35 years and loves music. We know things will be low-key, but we do hope there are some things to do besides eat (which we can't wait to do on this cruise) and lay around during the day?

Any info anyone wants to share is welcome.

Hi there - my husband and I are somewhere between your ages and that of your parents. He, too, is a bit of a music buff and does usually find a string quartet or some such to keep him happy for part of the day and sometimes there might be a good pianist "(classical or otherwise|) as part of the entertainment. It just depends what (or who) they have onboard for entertainment at the time. The lectures are usually quite interesting as well. As you are first time seabourn cruisers, I have a referral coupon which you are welcome to have. This entitles you as the receiver and me as the giver, $400 on board credit. If you would like to e-mail me at gerlaf1@BTinternet.com with your name, address including zip code, seabourn reference number and e-mail addess, I shall fill in the coupon and post it off to Seabourn. I am sure you will enjoy your cruise hugely anyway. We were on the Legend last year and it was fabulous!

... and if it is two bookings, rather than one, you can get referral coupons for both parties. Have a look at the referral coupon thread here. You will benefit from the credit and so will the refer-er!

Regarding enrichment on board, being a small ship a lot of the 'entertainment' will be in the conversation and interaction with your fellow cruisers, but there is plenty of provided entertainment too. It was on the Quest that we first ventured into the field of Trivia, and very much enjoyed it! It was a small enough gathering to encourage friendly rivalry between groups but relaxed enough not to have been TOO competitive.

There was music in the Club, which we didn't really go to much, and a pianist in the Observation lounge who played an assortment of light and classical music. Also there were scheduled performances, and one highlight was a concert by Blake. All of that was in addition to the 'shows' and was on a seven day cruise.

I'm pretty certain that your whole party will have a lovely time and very much enjoy your introduction to Seabourn.

is usually offered only on days at sea; tou noted you will be in ports each day. On a port-intensive cruise there should be lectures, cruise director and staff evening entertainment, a galley tour and possibly shopping with the chef in one port. Check with the purser's desk when boarding and sign on to shop with the chef (no charge) if you are interested. You may also have a deck barbeque with entertainment and dancing and possibly a galley brunch. With many ports and as amny on-board activities as you wish, you won't be bored! Have a wonderful cruise on Legend.

We're already set on deals and such.

On Silversea and Regent, they always do trivia even on port days. One thing we are used to on those lines is when they are in Antigua, they stay till 11 and have the deck bbq. There are no longer days in port on this cruise. That's kind of OK with us. We also like the casino, as does my father-in-law.

All the mentioned activities sound similar to what we are used to, though we are used to it being very hard to get into a galley tour. I did one on NCL Star a couple of years ago but never got in on SS or Regent (now I know that is an urgent, "first do").

We are doing our transfers with Seabourn and our own hotel. Everything is very last-minute. My husband and I had high airfare. The miles weren't going to work with the horrid route they wanted to send us. Easter isn't a good time to book last minute.

Thanks for all of the replies.

It's doubtful that Seabourn will ever have rock climbing, for which we can all be thankful. However, I second the opinion (or third) to sign up for shopping with the chef ASAP.

Somrtimes Tirivia is at 5 on port days, so that's good. Enjoy!!

I hope they will have the 5 pm trivia, but we are going to have a great time.

It will be my husband's parents' first time with open seating. That is all my husband has ever done.

It will be interesting because we have never cruised with his parents. We did Disney with them a few times, and they had more energy than we did. That was a while back.

I'm used to booking cruises way in advance, often taking advantage of the onboard booking incentive, so this last minute thing has got us all really talking and organizing.

We are considering the St. Kitts railway tour. Has anyone done that?

My in-laws are actually booked with past guest numbers since they have sailed on sister lines.

Rxlowry, we also love Regent and also love Silversea, all of both their sizes. We have sailed Wind with 225 guests on board, so if this ship is full, it will be similar number of guests. I've always found service on SS to be better than Regent (hear "no" on Regent more and deck service is reactive vs. proactive), but everything is awesome. We are used to butlers on Silversea now and love having our stuff unpacked and packed, but this won't be that big of an issue.

Also, with the two bottle of liquor thing, we couldn't check off wanting wine, but I am guessing you can order that from room service like the other luxury lines??

Both couples are booked on oceanview guarantee. We were told we would get our cabin assignment sometime between 7 days to day of sailing. Has anyone else done a guarantee?

Have a look at Island Paradise Tours with Rosevelt Taylor. We had a day on St Kitts with some frinds we met on the Legend a couple of years ago and we hired Rosevelt for the day. We saw the island, learned the history, had lunch at an old sugar plantation and had a fantastic day. There are mixed reviews about the train with many people saying it can be boring. Enjoy your cruise!
