Help !! Lets get RCI To Review Their Caribbean Ports of Call-Please Sign The Petition

So many of the ports are so similar that I really don't care. That makes the Oasis and Allure great choices because those cruises are more about the ship than the ports.

That's how we feel. My husband says that if you've see one island, you've seen them all. For us the exceptions are Bermuda and Puerto Rico. We love both of them. We're just disappointed that RCI doesn't spend more time in San Juan. On our cruise later this month, we're docked in San Juan from 7am to 1pm. We're not happy. We're really limited in what we can do when we have to be back on the ship by 12:30pm. We'd like to be there until 4 or 5pm.

I agree - it would be nice to have more time in San Juan

Come on everyone keep it going please :-)

The interesting thing is if RCI said "ok - we'll change it up some - what do you suggest?"

At that point, the petition group will divide into a dozen factions, each with their favorite port ideas... :D

Comments: It is not worth it for me to cruise with Royal Caribbean anymore because I have seen the same Caribbean ports time and time again. I would cruise much more often if ports were rotated and changed occasionally. Falmouth does not count as a new port. We have been to Falmouth and Ocho Rios. Falmouth is a created destination and feels fake. All of the best excursions travel by bus to other Jamaican ports. So what is the point?

Rci looks at who is cruising and the bottom line

45% of rci cruisers are brand new, not tired of ports yet

Of the remaining 55% repeat cruisers most only cruise every 3 years or longer, again , not tired of the ports

The small % of repeat cruisers left who cruise multiple times a year and who might be tired of ports are a very very small #, but still an important base to RCI.

Also, RCI's sailing capacity is up from 104% to 107%, not a sign that people are tired of anything RCI does, rather an indication they are doing things right.

I cruise for itineraries (work/school schedules allowing) and am a repeat cruiser (just turned D+). RCI would be getting more of my discretionary income if the itineraries for the newer ships were better - have yet to cruise Oasis or Allure and have only been on one Freedom class cruise simply because I am not interested in the itineraries. Although there obviously are enough people who either like the same old itineraries or who cruise for the ships rather than the ports that RCI has not felt compelled to change itineraries to date; with yet another new ship coming online, I hope they reconsider.

Mainstream cruise lines must go to the mainstream ports....those are the only ones with facilities to handle the ships and offer the excursions. Some of the ports on the "desired" list are already available, so the petition doesn't make much sense. Other Royal brands do go to some of the other ports, and they are also serviced by other cruise lines. If a port really interests you, then simply find a ship on a line that goes there. RCL's focus is on the "wow" factor aboard....not the ports. If you want lesser-used ports, then go with the lesser used lines....they are already going there, and there's no need to petition a mainstream cruise line to alter itineraries to smaller ports with fewer services....it's just not a good match for the larger ships.

Besides, when Cuba opens up to American cruise lines, all bets are off.

I signed the petition, but to be completely honest, I don't get off the ship anymore. Like someone said it is more about the ship than the port. Besides I like it when people are off my ship, so I can enjoy the whole ship to myself.:D

Lets keep this going strong!

Is it going strong? As of now, this thread has 3,453 views (some must be duplicates). People said they'd add it to facebook, so presumably some people viewed it there, too. Yet, the petition has 229 signatures right now. Fizzzzzzle...

I think most readers, like me, realize that this petition would be as effective in effecting a change as a waterglass would have been bailing out the Titanic.

I believe the OP is referring to the standard year round Eastern/Western routes. They haven't changed in close to a decade aside from Falmouth and removing Grand Cayman from Oasis/Allure.

Neither the Oasis or Allure will be visiting Grand Cayman as long as you must tender. The cayman authorities have said thier coral reefs are too fragile for building a deep water dock. I don't know... they surely must know what they are talking about.

RCCL said at the beginning that these two ships would not tender. Can you imagine getting 6,400+ of us cruisers off on tenders and back on in one day? Sorry the math just does not work out. That's why RCL built a deep water dock in Labadee.

As sorry I am to agree, I think you are right. Still you can take the smaller RCL ships, i.e. Splendor, out of San Juan and hit St. Kitts. Aruba, Curacao like we did a few years ago.

While I agree with the sentiment behind this petition, the logic is off. Just because a few hundred folks on a cruise-related web site sign a petition, Royal is not going to reevaluate their choices of ports, negotiate contracts with new ports and invest the necessary funds (which I would imagine would be in the millions) to make this happen. Port deals are signed years in advance. Money, and only money talks. Are those signing the petition prepared to also sign something stating they will book and sail on cruises with these new ports?

Will those people who are just negative for the sake of it or moaners thinking a petition is 'stupid', 'futile', 'a waste of time' (to name but a few of the unsupportive comments) just go away and view threads you might enjoy or see the worth in reading.

Thanks

Please help by signing the petition.

It will be sent to Adam Goldstein at the end of April.

Thanks a lot

Nice to see our neighbours trying to sort out something we've been talking about for years.

Can't see anything changing unless people vote with feet.

10/10 for putting up the fight.

Be driving through Tickton in morning en-route to Scarborough in morning.

I'll be interested in the outcome please.

I'm curious...are any of the people that have signed the petition still going to go on cruises to these ports?

ABSOLUTELY!!! and i signed

Why would you pay RCI to continue to go to ports that you don't want them going to?

I signed, after 5 RCCL cruises, I have not been back on RCCL since 2009 due to the boring itineraries. We've been doing Disney instead and also land vacations to places like Antigua, Aruba and Barbados. Booked on Oasis for 2014 but not very excited. Change would be good.
