FttF Cabins Ready;Platinum Cabins Not Ready

Sounds like people want to get in the room when the beds are still warm from the prior occupants.

That said, I have FTTF booked for May 25th.:p

I have FTTF booked for my August sailing. Won't have problem using any benefit it offers :p:p

As a non-platunum cruiser nor an FTTF guest I have never had an opportunity to get into my cabin early. I think the earliest on 13 cruises was about 2:00, on 4 different cruise lines.

I'm hoping that being platinum on our upcoming cruise will change that.

However, If I find out that someone who has cruised for the first time on CCL and bought FTTF got into their cabin before me I will most certainly raise a major stink about it.

Doesn't pay to get to "the status" if there is nothing for you other then a ball cap.

It may be different on different ships.

I do not know.

I read that on ships with FttF the Platinum cabins would be ready at the same time as FttF cabins.

On Elation this is not the case.

They did allow us to leave some stuff in the cabin which helps.

Not what they claimed that they would do though.

In the past sometimes my cabin would be ready and sometimes not.

There was no claim that it would be ready, but they seemed to try to have platinum cabins ready first.

To me it seems that now the FttF cabins are given that priority.

I talked to the room steward and found that he has 28 cabins.

I cannot imagine trying to get that many rooms done on turnaround day and they seem to be working really hard.

But they are making them have all the cabins done by 12:30, which is earlier than in the past.

I guess with less time to do all the rooms and the priority is to get the FttF rooms ready first, maybe they don't have time to get the platinum rooms done earlier.

Who knows?

Other than the fact that your cabin was ready when you expected, did you have a good time?

She has a point. We sailed Carnival a lot for the early boarding and cabin ready. I have RA..and there are more Carnival Ports around us....so..that is the one we picked. We do sail Princess..but either arrive late..or sit on a bench until the crowd thins..ditto HAL. Ditto NCL.

Our fall cruise is booked with Carnival...on the 8 day Breeze cruise..because of that. If it is such a good program..why is it not embraced by the other ships..all of which Carnival owns? because they would not put up with it. They would go RCI or Celebrity or Oceania or Crystal....or A British Ship....

I resent it. And I am not a complainer. And I resent your snarly attitude to her. It was a reward promised. Many dollars were spent getting it. Now for $50...anyone get it?

Nobody is responsible for my stuff except me (read your cruise contract). If you don't know what is going on - then don't comment.

She knew what was going on, but was responding as am I, that even though you have repeatedly broken the rules and gone to your cabin to drop off your carry-ons (since you are special and don't need to pay for FTTF nor are Platinum to have a room ready to do so properly) that if a room is not ready it is not SAFE to leave your carry on in there. And yes, it is your responsibility if it should be broken into or stolen out of the room with a door wide open while the steward is still cleaning (plus your stuff is in the steward's way)! You need to read your contract and follow the rules. So it is truly a BIG deal!

If they had done FTF three years ago...We would Elite on Princess. Or Hal.

and then everyone would be happy.

We just got back from the April 29th sailing of Elation.

(I looked a bit and did not see any threads about this issue.)

Checking in was fine and as we were checking in the lady checking us in told us that the cabins, all the cabins, would be ready at 12:30.

I said that I had read online that on ships with FttF Platinum cabins were supposed to be ready.

She said that I was the first person who had said that, but she had read the same thing.

She said that her co-worker had gone to check to make sure.

The co-worker got back and he said that his supervisor had confirmed that platinum cabins would not be ready early.

He also said that he too had read on line that platinum cabins would be ready like the FttF cabins and that was why he double checked.

When we got onboard we needed to stop at the purser's desk so I asked when the room would be ready and was told 12:30 again.

She said that we could drop off our stuff, but the room would not be ready.

And she was right, it was not ready.

(there were not a lot of vips on this cruise, I saw the list and it looked like 25 cabins maybe)

Interesting hunh?

I have read on here and on JH's facebook that platinum was not losing anything due to FttF and that Platinum would actually be getting the wonderful new perk of having the room guaranteed to be ready immediately on boarding.

Yeah, wonderful new perk, yeah right...

Apparently we have been misinformed...or perhaps disinformed?

If the shoreside personnel are saying this like it's policy then you need to let JH know, because it's wrong.

I purchased FTTF for just being able to get my children to our cabin early so they can take a nap before all the activities of the night....I don't feel I'm better then someone who is platnium or diamond and should have that before they do...All I know is that when I board...I'm going to my room and it better be ready and if it's not I'm so gonna complain and get my 50 bucks back....As far as the perks of being diamond/platnium I think this is gonna be a very very long argument between FTTF and the perks that are supposedly being taken away from them because of them which I think is unfortantle and unfair to those who have been loyal to carnival

Yeah.

They kind of said the same thing.

That someone could contact JH.

But then I know that JH has been mistaken in the past...

That was kind of my thought.

To me it did not make a big difference because I was allowed to dump off my carryon, which only contained some cokes and bottled water, and then went to sit on the not so serene Serenity deck until 12:30 anyway.

But if I had little ones with me I would have wanted to get into the cabin and get them settled in.

Anyway the FttF folks cabins were said to be ready at checkin, so hopefully everything will be smooth sailing for you .

One time I even had security helping me find the cabin steward. Never once has anyone told me no. I have been told to make sure I stay out of the cabin steward's way (I do). I have been asked to drop off my stuff and leave (I do). But I have never been told no.

My stuff is not in the steward's way, as I purposely put it in a place that is not in his/her way. Finally, I have read the contract and nowhere does it say I cannot drop off my carry-on. As long as I stay out of the room steward's way, and I do, nobody is inconvenienced.

Since I do not read these boards a lot unless I have a cruise booked I have not keep up with all the FTTF hoopla so pardon me for asking yet another question about this subject!

We are on the Fantasy in 34 days since we are platinum do we just show the steward our S&S card to gain early entrance to our room? Just want to drop off the carry on!

Naw, he is just a fanboy.

I am thinking that there must be perks in being an extreme fan.

If I got the red carpet treatment I would probably be a fanboy too.

JH does not send me baskets of apples, but I know where they keep them so I can get my own anyway.:)

Im sure they came back after i left to finish the job But the beds were changed luggage towel back on bed.. fresh towels and garbage collected...

I have taken the carry on to the room every cruise so that I don't have to deal with it. Did I break the rules... Probably, but then I don't sneak on alcohol so I am not costing CCL any money.

I have FTTF for the next two cruises and then DW is platinum after that. If the room isn't ready I am gonna want a refund as well.

Once again, read YOUR contract, and how about reading the signs on the great big doors you need to open to even get into the cabin hallways???? They ask you to "stay out"! And yes, your bags are in the way....if they are anywhere on the floor it can't be vacuumed, if they are on beds or tables they can't be wiped down, right?? There is a reason that they ask passengers to wait until 1:30 - 2 pm to go to cabins....and also a reason why it is a "PERK" to go earlier for those who have paid to do so (and may I add, in limited quatities per each ship) and for the other who have earned it by cruising loyalty and have reached Platinum and above. You need to follow rules!

Well it works that way for all the other ships, so I don't think he is mistaken.

Must be this ship, On the Imagination the signs on all of the doors state that Diamond/Platinum/FTTF come on in your rooms are ready, everyone else come back at 130.

In the big scheme of things, who really cares? Do yourself a favor and build a bridge and get over it.. FTTF is a money maker for Carnival and very popular with their non pretentious passengers.

I'm not saying it's right, but going to you're room to drop off a bag is not the same as being able to go to you're room and relax, which is the perk of platinum.

Was on the Elation April 20th sailing. I was on the Empress Deck and there were signs posted on the closed doors that Platinum/Diamond/FTTF were allowed in.

My cabin was not ready, but I put my valuables in the safe and put my carryon in the closet. Saw my cabin steward as I was leaving, he greeted me by name and said he would be finished with my cabin in about 10 minutes if I wanted to come back. I came back about 30 minutes later and all my luggage was there-and all this (including luggage) was before 12:30.
