Has anyone ever cruised and NOT had an on-board tab?

Just recovering from the latest "sticker shock" of our onboard account bill from our latest FOS cruise! I was wondering has anyone who frequents these boards ever not spent additional money on their cruise other than gratuities? I suppose if you don't drink or gamble it could be done but I am curious. I salute your willpower if you've done it :)

We have come in under a hundred not counting gratuities but zero isn't going to happen.

We've done it, but only because of a large onboard credit on a 7 day cruise and generous servings of wine and drinks in the Diamond Lounge. We even managed to take some of the OBC home.

Well my wife & I don't drink or gamble but still have never had a 0 balance. Always find something to buy. We can afford to buy a few things from the savings of not drinking or gambling! :cool:

We've had a 0 amount once but it really didn't tell the tail. On our Mariner Pacific Coastal/swine flu cruise, RCCL had given us so much OBC compensation that we did have a 0 balance at the end.

We do it all the time.....thanks to On Board Credit and the Concierge Lounge. I get a real chuckle on that last morning when I see the pages and pages of charges at some people's cabin doors.

Due to a lovely OBC our final bill 2 cruises ago was $.06. We paid in cash. Love it. :)

Because of OBC and free gratuities from our TA and RCCL OBC we almost never have a bill - in fact most times I have excess OBC that I get back in cash. On our cruise next week I have $500 in OBC (total bill for the cruise was $2,100 after discounts but before OBC) that I will never use. With the concierge and diamond loungers my alcohol bill is usually $0.

Last cruise balance was $0.89 that was credited back to our credit card.

Thanks to on board credit, prepaid gratuities and free dinner in a specialty restaurant from our TA plus the perks of the Concierge Lounge we rarely have a bill and sometimes have money leftover.

Our last bill was $7.50. I couldn't bear another cup of their horrible coffee and bought Starbucks for my husband, daughter and I. Of course our excursions and tips were paid before we cruised.

We just returned from the Celebrity Summit, and the only charges on our onboard account were gratuities.

My DW has had a "zero balance" but the best that I have ever accomplished is 13 cents. With prepaid gratuities, and being allowed in the concierge lounge, and OBC with Next Cruise.........we spend for cabin space, but not much, once we get onboard.:)

of the dozen or so cruises we have been on, more than half have had no charges other than gratuities. We rarely drink anything that costs money, don't like or want souvenirs anymore, don't gamble, etc.

 

We cruise as we live at home - no debt.

That has never happened to me, but I suspect that this cruise may be the lowest balance I've had as I have OBC to use and can now bring on wine, which should cut down my bar tab heavily. Looking forward to it! :D

Aside from gratuities, our bill is very little. We drink in the Diamond lounge. We do our own excursions, and buy very little, if anything. Our next RC cruise on Legend, will be our first at Diamond+, so we will be using the Specialty restaurant coupon bogo free on our first night. That will ad to our bill. :eek:

Unfortunately, my lowly $50 OBC won't pay for much, but it is nice to hear it can be done! Sounds like being able to access the Concierge Lounge helps quite a bit :D

And that was gratuities on the last cruise. We drink in the Diamond lounge and I buy a few things in the crazy sales and restaurants. So after we subtract our OBC we end up with very little.
