price drop by $328.60 check current rates

I bought a shirt at kohls for $30 a few weeks later it was in the clearance rack for $8. Sucks I didn't just wait til it was on clearance but that's the chance you take when you buy a product.

It's not just ncl, I'm sure every cruise line does this as with any business that is in it to make money. People will still book with ncl and people will still think they are being screwed when prices go down but will not say a word when prices go up.

A lot of stores (not cruise ships) have policies that if the price goes down with in a certian time frame, usualy a month or so, you get the difference. I think some states have laws about it as well.

Bought a refirgerator at Best Buy 4 years ago. About 14 days after I bought it they dropped the price and got back the difference. 2 weeks later Sears had it for even lower and they priced matched. Can't remember the exact saving but it was somewhere between $200-300.

Good news!!! NCL also price matches on all refrigerators you buy from them. They match any price drops for a year after purchase. They do not offer the same deal on cruises however.;)

The price on both cruises we have booked have gone up at this point. However, they're both off in distance and I have a feeling at least one of them will experience some price drops. I doubt the 2015 cruise will have any significant drops though it's selling quite well I think. :)

It's ok, we lucked out and got a great deal so not worrying.

I agree anything after final payment is a little gravy for your trip. When I call I am always nice to the cs rep and always ask if they could accommodate my request. NCL always comes through and you always need to be open to their offer. NCL wasn't able upgrade me for my March sailing as I needed my two staterooms near each other (traveling with minors). So they offered me obc in lieu of an upgrade. The obc is more than I would have got if I didn't call and just ask. Always keep an open mind when you call NCL and be nice. Once I got upgraded from an inside to a balcony and that was just because I asked nicely when my inside was the same price as a balcony.

Many stores also have 30 day return policies. Try that with a cruise!

Try getting a lower price with the airlines.

Cavet Emptor:

With some of the many stores the price adjustment period may be less than the

return period - but I will play their game. If they won't adjust the price then

I will return it and rebuy at the discount price.

With a cruise ship I suppose jumping thru hoops is a real leap. Gee you mean

I have to take another cruise on the same ship within 30 days to return or

price adjust for the ole rag I just bought in the gift shop ! Not on your life !

Now as for the airlines - why sure we will adjust the fare to the lower one ---

but it will cost you the change fee $100.00 on the cheap airlines and more on

some others.

And of course YMMV so go ROFLMAO and be sure to see my secretary Helen Wait

for a personal response !

Your BEST defense to price reduction is to wait until the absolute final payment

date and watch the rates. After you make the final payment you are pretty

much locked into what you have contracted for.

You might get an upgrade to a bigger better cabin or more OBC to play with

but a lot has to do with the space left available on the ship and the power of

your Travel Agent if working thur one to negotiate.

In some cases when you renegotiate your contract you may lose some or all of the

previous OBC and latitude points for booking less than 9 months from sailing.

Approach these price adjustments carefully - don't burn any bridges getting

there - threats violence insurrection mayhem threatening bad PR will get you

nowhere.

Consider when negotiating with NCL or representative hinting or directing

attention to your future plans real or imaginary of taking your family or affinity

group on another cruise with the same cruise line. The more cruises you have

had with them the better - they will get the point in hurry to not squelch any

future planned cruises/sales especially when dealing with group.

Be nice and if at first you do not succeed then call back at a later time and

try again - if they have not documented your first previous call with details

who knows you might catch a sympathetic ear.

And lastly if you get no where consider when getting on board talk nicely with

the purser or representative. If the ship is not sailing at capacity you might

snag an upgrade or other compensation. It is easy for them to play musical

cabins on a ship with less than full capacity. Your mood may change and you

will at least have the satisfaction that you did all you could.

But remember those burning bridges - leave a painless way to escape !

This is a very common thing happing on NCL. Especially on here new ships Getaway and Breakaway. NCL is not handling this right. People are getting screwed. Even though NCL has the right to do it. It's just not nice, and people are not going to forget this. I am happy for the few people who cabin prices went up and got the rewards for that [whatever that is. Sailing for a cheaper price then a few other people] But the amount of people the other way are way far more.

NCL has to realize they cannot get the prices for these ships. People will learn not to book until final payment is past. Why not? All the cabins will be open

Gee, tell us how you really feel? How many other lines have you sailed and what makes you think this is something new NCL is doing. We have been cruising for over 30 years, the only change is we now have the internet and can check pricing, etc. It used to be, we booked our cabin and that was it. We never had a clue what happened with pricing later on. It is time we stop blaming others and take responsibility ourselves. There are 2 choices: 1 we can book early and get exactly what we want, at a price we can live with or we wait, we gamble and we take what is available. Have you tried to change the price of an airline ticket after purchasing? You say the number of people who see a price drop is greater than those who see an increase, where did you get that idea? Most of us do not come to websites to talk about how much we paid, only those who are unhappy with the price.

As many have said (in not exactly these words...) I always book a cabin and location I'm happy with at a price that I think is fair. If I'm able to get an upgrade because the price has gone down...yay, me!!! But honestly, it doesn't matter because we're on a cruise and that in itself is good enough for me!!!!:D

Another factor which is true for me and I rarely see posted.... I book well in advance because I like to make payments along. It makes the cruise more affordable for my family. I like knowing I have it booked. Yes, I could just put that money away but I like checking on my reservation, looking at the excursions, learning about the ports etc. If my money was just in a bank account I wouldnt have that excitement AND chances are I would end up using some of it for things that "come up". I still usually have a chunk to pay off on the final payment day but I love knowing I have a reservation. I also love working with a pcc and I must say I have one of the best. When I see a sale I just email him and have him check to see if it would benefit me.. most times it doesnt..but if it does he makes the adjustments. Another point of booking ahead is I get double points for booking more than 9 months out. Love NCL.

Meh, I don't begrudge NCL for doing what they need to to put bodies onto the ships and fill cabins...but you're right in the sense that the next time I cruise, I'll book my flights early and my cruise late. And that's bad for NCL.

Or maybe not, the situation about recurring price drops is either a) off-season or b) the two newest ships. On most other ships price drops are in general as common as price jumps or some categories being completely sold out.

But yes, if one has flexibility and doesn't care too much about the exact cabin then booking late can be fruitful - but it's still a gamble.

If anyone is upgraded to family balconies by the Splash Academy, I just want to let you know that they are quiet, and you won't be bothered by the kids. Coming up the stairs or elevator, the hallway leading to the kids club will be ahead of you, or you turn to go to your cabin. The kids aren't even close by - you can't hear a thing.

The ? is has anyone used the casino line at check-in at Maimi. I'm a gold memb was told that we get priority boarding. Is this true. I went through casinos on other cruises from Vancouver and there was no casino line. Hope NCL has what it said it has,

People often confuse priority check in with priority boarding. Suites and an occasional VIP get priority boarding. Others get priority check in, which may or may not be faster than regular. Boarding is then done by groups.

This could work. Especially if you make sure wherever you book your flights to, you wouldn't mind spending the time there as a regular land vacation vs. cruise. In case you can't get the cruise at a price you're willing to pay. Still go on holiday, just tour the city you would have cruised from.

yesterday learned price of our balcony room on the 13th just droped $328.60 from we paid booking with NCL direct[by he way we are a group of 12 +2 who their own} call NCL right away asked for refund they said no can do...asked for OBC again no can do...Sara said she would check with a supervisor and get back...called back offered mnisuite (which is still cheaper than what we paid}but we stressed we wanted to stay together, says she would see what she could do.//excited now she called back and had rooms on the 12th floor together great but still no other comp ok..within 30 minutes we realized the room were infact family balcony rooms directly across from the splash academy NOT ACCEPTABLE calledher back explained weare old and don't want to hear kids...she understood and said she would look for real mini-suits but not together after thought not what we wanted called her back and told her to put us back in our orginal rooms......asked for again since we are now giving NCL $328.60 xtra for nothing in return.. asked to speak to supervisor...Brenda said only could offer mini-suite which we declined...said if it was reverse and price went up would we pay more....after an intense conversation she agreed to give us a $125.00 room OBC and refused a request for at least a comped dinner......so all n all NCL screwed us...they have now lost 14 future cruises and we will tell our friends CHECK WHAT YOU CABIN IS NOW BEING SOLD FOR

We noticed a significant price drop on our cruise after final payment - our cabin category was about $300 cheaper than we had paid and a higher cabin category that we had originally considered was about $100 cheaper than what we'd paid for ours. So I called up NCL and nicely explained that we had originally been considering both cabins, noticed the recent price drop, and wondered whether there was any way they could get us into the better cabin. The rep couldn't have been nicer about upgrading us and since there were a number of unsold cabins in the new cabin category, we got one in a great location. As with many customer service interactions, I think you get treated better if you are polite and patient than if you demand something.

Our base fare is still $100 more than the current price on the upgraded cabin, but it's $500 lower than we would have paid if we had booked this cabin in the first place. I think we got an awesome deal - a better cabin for the price that we were happy with when we booked. If our schedules were a more flexible, I would book every cruise at the last minute - but as it is, we got a great deal because they were kind enough to upgrade us.
