I'm not sure that logic is going to help on that one. Some folks are way beyond that! Hope you enjoy your next cruise line better amber.

wait..you CANCELLED your cruise because you didn't get a free one? Because you feel unfairly treated? Just how badly have you been abused by Carnival? You spent money..you got a great return on your investment... food, entertainment, time away from the struggles of life..the list goes on and on....

I'm VIFP, too... and this whole spoiled cruiser attitude that has been floating around regarding this reminds me just how good my life must be to not care one way or the other that Carnival didn't choose ME to get a free cruise.

Again to relate morality, or how much compassion a person has because they are irked at a company they were loyal too, which slighted them........... stone stupid & juvenile.

If you have a good life. Be thankful. And then don't you dare complain about anything again ever in your life because if you do..........you are spoiled. ????that seems to be the logic of your rant.

I save for my cruise. I am very frugal. I am a retired teacher. Money does not flow into my household, and If I want to complain about this give away, as long as I follow CC rules, I can. & I suspect no one in heaven is going to write me up for it. a JUSTIFABLE complaint should be voiced.

Remember....All that is needed for bad to thrive is for good people to remain silent? That is the kind of logic you are throwing around.

And it makes my head hurt to read some of these juvenile rants. Free Speech. And this not ugly speech. No name calling on the point of us Less VIP. us Less Past Guest. Lots of it from the Freebies.

I was only peeved to find out that BF had never signed up for an VIFP account on the website. I told him to go check to see if he had an offer because I did not and he didn't even have an ACCOUNT. Oh well, he quickly registered and I sent him our past booking numbers so he could request proper credit to his account. Now we just cross our fingers for next round... :D

Am I disappointed I didn't get a free cruise? Sure, that would have been great! But oh well, c'est la vie. There's certainly worse things in life that could happen.

But I'm curious... did any Canadians get the free cruise? None of my fellow Canadian cruising friends did, so I wonder if it was only only offered to Americans? Can anyone chime in on this?

Jana, I am turned off on cruising in total. I might get over it. We cruise next month, and I am telling you the truth, I dread setting foot on that ship.I cancelled one cruise and if I could get my money back, I would cancel this one so fast their heads would spin.

I always love the staff whom we interact with..........I am determined that I will not be sullen with them. And not ruin the cruise for my family by being ticked. That would be selfish. But I am genuinely off of the Carnival Brand. Big Time.

My grand daughter is going, and My DD and SIL will be thrilled if Granny babysits a lot. And what is a Granny for? Things pass. Time makes them sting much less.

To attribute ill intent on the part of Carnival because they have given free cruises to some people and not to others presumes that they have some kind of ill intent on their part towards the latter. I, unlike some of those here, am under no delusions that carnival thinks favorably or unfavorablely towards me. Indeed I'm quite sure they have absolutely no idea who I am. To believe otherwise is grandiosity bordering on paranoia.

If they change the rules, you all are welcome to the ones we received. Haven't been on Carnival after our crappy Destiny cruise 2 yrs ago. Carnival doesn't do it for me any more. If we lived in Fla, the offer would be great but wasn't after you add in flights or travel and hotels. Save a couple of hundreds dollars and you still get Carnival.

And don't forget, you don't get a suite, or balcony, you get a crappy inside room the size of a cracker box. Never would I ever book an inside room, and I certainly wouldn't pay "extra" for a balcony. I would never book a 3-day cruise either, is what my "free" offer was. I bet at the end of this year, people will be receiving a 1099 for that 'FREE" cruise. Be careful what you wish for.

First thing is saying they ARE FREE. They are free. Have to pay fees and taxes. Have to pay gratuities. Not free just reduced. and there are a limited number of cabins for this deal. I called on 2 of them. The one out of Florida still had cabins, the one out of Texas was already sold out. This going to keep going the letter said. If you don't receive now, you may in future.

I think Carnival could have handled this promotion better. I was in a Future Cruise Presentation last month and apparently 2.5 million passengers sailed with Carnival last year. If Carnival did indeed send out 1 million "free cabin" letters then it would be entirely feasible that each household that sailed last year would have received one. Yet several people have received multiple offers and some have received them that due to age can't use them unless accompanied by an adult!

Rather than send out 1 million offers, why not just apply an OBC to the first so many new bookings made within the offer period? Surely that would have been fairer? Keep existing customers happy and encourage new customers to sail with Carnival?

I'm no marketing expert but it looks like this promotion has alienated a lot of loyal customers and let's face it, how many people that got the free cruise will be repeat business and spend all the money that Carnival is clearly hoping for onboard?

I didn't realize this was a promotion. Do you have a link for that?

How do I feel? I am very happy for the folks who got a free cruise! :D Hubby and I are in a position that we can cruise at least once a year (more if he had more vacation time) with no problems.

All the ladies who work for me and with me are in single income homes. They can't afford to cruise. I am blessed to be at a point in my life that I am just about debt free and have 2 incomes so we can enjoy things in life that we couldn't when our kids were still young and living at home.

So I am not going to stomp my feet and throw a fit. I am not going to cancel my upcoming vacation. I am not going to badmouth Carnival. I am going to enjoy my upcoming cruise and I will be booking another one soon!

Grow up folks. Life is too short.

When we go to Reno, we get free rooms Sunday - Thursday - we get 3 nights for FREE. No taxes and no hidden expenses. We get 50% off at the spa and free drinks - unlimited when we are gambling. IMHO, that's what free means - no hidden expenses. We sit at the bar and play 5 cent poker and get free drinks. We leave the bartender a nice tip when we're done. Never would get anything like that from Carnival or any cruise line. So we'll go to Reno instead and do some shopping that we can't do here.:D

:confused:We took our daughter on a cruise for her high school graduation in 2012, and last week she gets a letter offering her a free cruise. Ironic though....you must be 25 to book a cruise unless you are married. So she'll have to take me if she wants to go...LOL:D

The name calling on this thread is ridiculous. Seems to me that the OP asked for opinions of those that did not receive the offer. But when Amber gives an opinion she is considered "grandiose and paranoid"?

I would totally love to find out that we had been gifted with a free cruise, but I'm not angry that I wasn't a recipient. Maybe we'll get lucky in the future, who knows, but I'm happy for those who received one and it's nice to read about their excitement.

Carnival doesn't owe me something that I haven't paid for, they are welcome to award those where they want.

Yes OP wouldn't it be nice to have a chance at winning a free cruise? I guess we just weren't one of the fortunate cruisers; either that or we have cruised with Carnival too much over the years! ;)

I'm sure that one or both of your parents would be pleased to escort you. :p

Giveaways are a promotional technique that have existed since the beginning of trade. They stir up interest in a product, and desire. If done properly, they whet the appetite of potential consumers, and ultimately increase sales.

Giveaways aren't rewards for being a good customer, so anyone who feels slighted for not receiving enough of Carnival's love... yikes.

I was reading several threads about the free cruise offer a number of Carnival Cruisers, but not all, received. To be honest, I really didn't have much of an opinion (Good for Them!, Not Fair, Why not me? etc.) UNTIL I got an email from a good friend today. She got one of the offers and is now booked to go in June as soon as school lets out (She's a teacher). The funny thing is I was the one that introduced her to cruising in 2011. Her first cruise, my first time on Carnival. Since that date she has sailed twice with Carnival with her husband, and I have sailed 3 times with mine. Neither one of us spends any money in the casino, and I know my on-board bill is always much higher than hers.

Anyway, happy for her, but now that someone I know got the offer and I didn't I have to admit that I am just a little bit annoyed with Carnival. Doesn't mean I will never sail with them again-Guess I'm just not feeling the love.

We've sailed Carnival 12 times, with #13 182 days away and #14 about to be booked. We've never received an upgrade offer, an upsell offer, nor any kind of offer.

Maybe Carnival figured out that we keep sailing the line and doesn't have to entice us.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure I never said I was "Entitled" and I don't think anyone else said they were entitled. Silly as it may seem to some of you I was asking about feelings. The rational part of me knows that large corporations like Carnival or the massive company I work for don't give a hill of beans about feelings. It's the bottom line and making shareholders happy and the CEO rich.

I still like Carnival, I still think they give good value for my vacation dollar. I am very fortunate in my life, but I have also worked very hard for everything I have. I love cruising and just once I would love to snag the unbelievable upgrade (Interior to balcony) or a "Free" cruise (Port charges, gratuities, and drinks not included). Being wistful that once again it wasn't my turn to grab the brass ring doesn't make me a bad person. Of course you are welcome to your opinion, because we all have one. ;)
