It appears that NCL will be running a huge promotion

I am on with my big box food and TA company right now while they on with NCL canceling and rebooking my ressie for an S4.

I was able to get the 6 of us the UBP (3 of us are over 21).

Two people will have the UDP. Lost my $300 OBC but SO worth it.

Thank you VERY much to the person that started this thread! I very much appreciate it!

That's great! Good for you!

For anyone that has received the UDP promo, how does it work exactly?

Can you still prebook your restaurants online? Did the promo show up on your NCL account?

Just wondering since I don't see mine listed anywhere on my reservation.

It's not a gift that's simply being given to people who have already booked. It's a promo for new bookings. Many are able to call and change their reservations, or cancel and rebook. Otherwise your account isn't going to simply be adjusted automatically. That's why you don't see anything.

I am assuming that if I get 2 UDP with the promo, that it would cover both me and DD if we are the only ones in the cabin, even though she is a child and would normally not be UDP-eligible. Has anyone asked this question and received confirmation? I will ask my TA before booking, but wondered if anyone knows the answer. I will not be happy if I am supposed to get UDP but still have to pay 1/2 price specialty dinners for DD (although chances are she would just order the freebie dining room kids menu anyway).

I should of been more clear. I booked yesterday with my TA but she was holding my info until today. She called and left a message saying she had added the promo to my booking. She has since left the office and I had some questions.

Just thought someone might know how it works since I didn't see anything by logging into MyNCL account.

I thought about calling and ask for the deal, but I figured I would lose my OBC of $155. I only plan on eating at 2 specialties, so at $20 each ($60 for my party) it would be $120 and Id still have $35 OBC.

If I got the UDP, Id have to buy ($119) for the 3rd person. Not really worth it for me to even ask (plus Im past final payment).

I wonder if there is any chance of them expanding this promo to the other ships? It feels like the rest of us don't matter.....

Maybe, but NCL is having a huge problem booking their two newest, bestest ships, the GA and BA. They cannot lower cabin prices much more for fear of devaluing the product so they are trying these marketing schemes to get butts in the bunks.

One can only imagine how much worse it will get once those two more ships enter service.

Love My Butler you are so right . I just called about an unrelated issue and somehow got a PCC ( even though i don't use one) She lives in my old stomping grounds, we were chatting- Told me that for cruises leaving in the next 2-8 weeks that prices are tumbling as they can't fill Getaway. The promotion calls have mostly been from people already booked and after final demanding to have the UBP and UDP added to their reservation -said there were more calls of that nature than for new bookings. Time will tell......

SAdly prices for my suite this summer are up , and with the freebies I already received rebooking would be a break-even deal.

I just got off the phone with NCL as well. If you are in a suite, and are inside 120 days of sailing date, you will have to forfeit the deposit, or 25% of your cruise fare, whichever is greater to participate in the promotion. Not worth it if that is your scenario.

Not happy that We get told we qualify for the promo and to find out later that even though I am before the final payment date I do not qualify since we are booked in a haven suite. They want $900 to rebook and get the promo. Ugh

Final payment dates for suites are different than for other rooms.

Yes they are but 120 days (when the penalty for cancelling a suite kicks in) is still before Final Payment. For me 120 days is June 1, 2014 but my final payment isn't due until June 30th. That's why my TA notes when 120 days is to help avoid penalties.

Any guess why there's a problem filling these ships?

A lot of new capacity (the ships are almost twice as big as majority of NCL's other ships) and balancing with keeping the prices high enough so that the new ships don't seem bargains but still low enough for them to attract customers from other cruise lines.

Thanks, that's exactly the situation we're in, and it's not worth it to lose the 25%. Oh well. We plan to eat in the specialty restaurants almost every night, so that would have been a great perk, but we're not huge drinkers, so even if you figure in the list price of the UBP, it isn't worth it for us.

So I found this today. Trying to find out if I can get it with the ultimate dining and drink package. Cost out of pocket is 240 more since they raised it and it's a rebook. And I losing 40 dollars obc so far. See what happens. Says since I have cruise rewards I get 100 dollars onboard credit.

It could be a number of things. Perhaps customer service is one of them!

Called about this promo( outside the 120 day, have a suite) NCL told me to find a better price than they have thru a TA, cancel my res ,lose 450 OBC, book at a new, higher price and maybe, and I quote " if you are lucky you can have the same suite. But it will probably be GONE in cybersace". Even if I listened to this advice, I would be even- OBC gone, 400 dollars total increase for the 5 of us ( $850 dollars there) ...even with the drinking package we would not save, as I drink 2 drinks a day MAX which is why the UBP is wasted on me. Hubby would use it, kids like the soda package..You would think that NCL would try to discourage releasing the reservation unless there is no commission being paid-guy actually told me to "call around, you will find a better price than we can offer"

ANYWAY- another poster mentioned that it is mostly people already booked calling. My PCC today said the same thing. I think all the bad BA reviews have really hurt NCL. We have still have doubts about our upcoming GA....Being in the Haven is a saving grace for us...

Any folks out there already booked able to convince NCL to slap the UBP on to their present reservation? Wouldn't THAT be cool!!

!

I guess I'll have to start reading the BA reviews. However, our interest would be in GA. Even though it's basically the same ship, does it appear that the same problems (whatever they are) will exist for her? In a nutshell, what's are the main problems with BA? too crowded? bad food?

The entertainment seems like it would be fabulous and all those specialty restaurants would be fun too.

I have looked at the B1s, B6s, and M6s. However, we've been in a suite before on Norwegian and if we can get something that would get us into the Haven for not much more than the M6, we'd probably jump.:)

There was a bunch of issues with BA- everything from bad weather ( sorry- cruising out of NY in the winter and complaining about weather?) to obnoxious server, poor dining room service, long waits, missing GSC, Haven inundated with obnoxious children. Long departure lines, etc stc. I read them here and on other travel sites. One huge complaint was the smoke on 6-7-8 that eminates from the open plan casino. Non-smokers but it won't bother us- can't be worse than Vegas or AC hotel casinos.!

There are also the mandatory " I FELT NICKLE AND DIMED "complaints. Whatever.

We are booked on GA,our apprehension is simply that we have never been on a ship so soon after it was launched-and I pray that the Haven is not overrun with kiddies. Send them to the water slides with my kids!!!

There are some amazing deals for BA and GA right now. If I could leave next week I would be all over them!!
