Everything.. ESCAPE (live 29 Oct 2015!)

Recommended Posts

Just wondering for those of you who have cruised on the Escape are you able to get drinks from a venue that are not on the menu? For example could I go to Margaritaville and order a Long Island Ice Tea?

Spoke to one of the bar staff and they've been told certain venues can only sell certain drinks or brands. One example is Magaritaville where only about 6 bottles beers are stocked.

Read the ones with 1 or 2 stars, not just the ones with 5 stars. I'm sure most of the poor reviews are because it was only one day and there are still bugs to be worked out. I do realize some of the complaints are ridiculous as always. Time will tell, hopefully in a month or so these reviews will be mostly positive. I'm sure they.

I did too, and oddly enough i noticed that the OPs only had 1 post and they just joined CC, it seems a bit sketchy to me, like the 80 y/o woman that complained about having to haul her luggage all the way out, well, that seems more like a port problem than a ship problem. and the other one that said that everything was rotten, please is a brand new ship, that is not even possible.

Most of the reviews complain about the embarkation/disembarkation process which is partly the fault of the harbor.

I love the complaint about the missing coffee pads :D! My guess is that they simply haven´t been delivered yet to the ship. The next complaint was, there are tea bags but no kettle... Have you ever tried to make a cup of tea with the coffee machine??? Should work...

On the 2 night pre inaugural we never had any major problems with the service. Yes, in Margaritaville it could have been faster but it was no big deal. It´s a brand new venue and there was lots of staff to get used to it. Servers were very friendly. At Bayamo I told our server that we will only have a starter because we have a dinner scheduled at Le Bistro. He immediately gave us tips what to order there as he had worked there before (on another ship of course). When we asked for a cocktail from the Sugarcane Mojito Bar we got the menu within a second and drinks came pretty fast too. Our cabin steward did a good job. When my DH asked for robes (he asked another cabin steward on the aisle) our cabin steward brought them within 30 min (sure, he got the request from his collegue and then had to go down to the laundry area to pick them up).

I think some people had to high expectations. Short trips do have their own rules. Short trips of a new ship do have their own rules even more. You can´t expect that the crew already knows everything. They have to learn too. You can´t expect that the whole ship is ready - it´s normal that something is missing or last work has to be done (o.k., on the Epic the whole The Haven area was not ready and that wasn´t normal). Most of those kinks work out within the first couple of weeks.

You also have to consider there was a 2 nighter for TAs and media, then a 2 nighter from Hamburg to Southamptpon, then a 1 nighter out of Southampton and another 1 nighter... that´s pure stress for the crew too to cope with a new party mob almost every night!

I agree 100%. We are on the nov/21/2015 sailing and we know not everything is gonna be perfect, but we will make the best of it. we are going for the brand new ship and all that she has to offer, sure, it will be some hiccups, but we know we are going to have a good time. :D:D:p

I couldn't agree more and look forward to finally meeting you along with all of the others at our M&G for a phenomenal Thanksgiving cruise. My kids and I have been looking forward to this "rotten" brand new ship since we booked back in February. We never expect "perfection" when on vacation, and focus on the all of the fun things and good people we encounter. :D

I have read all the reviews also.

I think everyone makes their own holiday. Problems happen but they are not life threating. I always figure that some how everything will work out. We have lost our luggage, didn't ruin our trip. Landed in Florida to a hurricane. Didn't ruin our trip.

I have waited much to long for this holiday for anything to ruin it. Problems on the ship, maybe, but if I can find a drink, something to put in my belly and some sunshine a couple of days, I know that with the people we will meet we will have a wonderful time.

We are sailing on the 14/11/2015, and we can't wait.

Here's to NCL for bringing us a wonderful new ship to enjoy.

What do they show during the day on the big screens on the main pool deck and at Spice H2O?

When we were on Getaway they showed some odd scenery pictures on the big screen in Spice H2O. They had some music on but you usually couldn't hear it. It may have been just our sailing, but we went to spice several times (even when we were in port in Bahamas) and it was always the same thing.

I imagine NCL will take a look at the reviews, foreigners or not because a good deal of people come from overseas to cruise the Caribbean. It isn't just a destination for Americans. We always notice a great deal of Europeans when we cruise in December/January.

I do think that people have too high expectations for the taster cruises though, as they seem to be the equivalent of a stress test on a restaurant staff. You can't expect a brand new ship & staff to be 100% perfect until they've had time to work together a little while.

Yeah and some people in the reviews seemed to nit pick.

The reviews on all the ships have scared the hell out of me but I leave on the 22nd On the Getaway knowing that I can make fun through anything. Some ppl are whiny and entitled.

Just catching up on this thread. Obviously the weathers not helping but I think the no.1 negative you'll see in reviews from those onboard is lack of nightlife post midnight. On all previous TA's and inaugurals when bar ents stop you had to Bliss for a couple of hours of dancing, drinking or just chilling. They are going to refit part of the Casino to be a smoking enclosed area so hopefully they'll also enclose skyline to be a nightclub.

The 5oclock bar is the smoking bar as the external part is where all the smokers now go.

I was in the aft area of the casino around midnight tonight and the music was crazy loud, dancing, and lots of fun going on in Skyline. They may have finally figured things out. Was great to sit at a slot machine along the total opposite wall singing along with all of the tunes.

Can't wait for the videos.

I'd love to see what the grotto looks like in detail as well as any other music/drinking venues you find worthy. We're curious of the live music at Buffet's. I got this feeling the bands it will be like acts you see in the various Tropical Isle bars down in NOLA, which just fine.

We're booked for May 14, 2016 and can't wait. Hoping by then they have all the kinks worked out. We took the same approach when the Epic was new and it should be no different here.

Thank you in advance and have a great cruise.

Are you staying on in Nassau? I couldn't imagine leaving the ship to spend $100 for watered down drinks and meh food at RIU when you have all the packages and a Haven suite to enjoy with only 3 short days. I'd make the most of what is on the ship. You may not even see the whole ship in 3 days:eek:
