B2B...or not?

We booked our cruise as a 14-night on the CB (western/eastern Caribbean with FLL in the middle), but it's also being sold as two 7-night cruises...even though we're only getting credit for one cruise (only one deposit required, and getting FCC OBC for a 14-night cruise), we'd turn platinum after the first half...can we move up in grade after the first leg, and will we have to disembark half-way through or not?

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Not true. Go see the Captain Circle host/hostess before the second leg of your cruise and he/she can make adjustments for the next leg.

Yes, we did this on a 14 day cruise. The captain circle hostess split our credits up into 2 -7 day cruises. Sweet! On board credit for a 14 day but still getting credit for 2 7s.

Yes, you will have to disembark in FLL after the first leg. You can spend the day off the ship or get off with the b2b group and then just get right back on.

If sailing in a balcony or above the total FCC credit is the same $50 x 2 = $100 pp. I would book as 2 separate cruises then she could make Elite sooner and there would be no question about the 150 free Internet minutes for the second leg.

If sailing in Inside/Outside then there is a $25 difference $25x2 = $50 versus $75 obc.

Hi Lynn

Booked the 14 day getaway in March as a b2b. If booked as a 14 day getaway, there were only two balcony rooms left on the whole ship (lido deck). Booking as b2b we had any choice of balconies. ? Even our TA didn't understand. As a 14 day my husband would get more veterans OBC and the base price of the cruise was lower. Since we wanted the carib deck we booked as a b2b.

Regarding getting off the ship mid way in FLL. Everyone has to. The ship passenger number has to go to zero. Bring your passport, old and new cruise cards. If you decide not to tour in FLL, you will reboard after immigration clearance and before "new" passengers. A letter should be sent the night before the end of the first week.

If booked as a b2b, you should get your upgrade on second half of cruise.

Did you book with a TA or directly with Princess?

:) Chris

We're sailing balcony, but don't want to pay a double deposit. We'll check in with captain's circle and see what they say.

Will we have 2 cruise cards, or just 1?

If booked as one cruise, you pay one deposit per-person. You will have a new cruise card for the 2nd seven days. A day or so before disembarkation of the first 7-day cruise, you'll receive a packet with instructions and your new card. When you disembark, you use your old card to log out, your new card when you re-board.

We take a lot of long cruises, but break them up into two cruises when we can. Our next cruise is in December from LA to Santiago and second leg to Rio. We could have done this via one cruise via our favorite TA. Doing this as two cruises doubles our veterans benefits, shareholders credits and the two FCC we have.

That is interesting because we booked the Emerald for 20 days instead of two 10s b2b because the veteran fcc and stock credits were all higher as a 20 .

As stated, go see the Captain's Circle host during the first leg. The host will at the very least add one additional voyage credit to your records, by posting a cruise with zero days. If you get lucky the host may even change your status for the second leg of the b2b.

For each cruise, I figure the cost for booking each possible way. I figure in the cost of the cruise, FCC, Shareholder and Loyalty OBC. Sometimes it works out better to book as one cruise, other times multiple cruises are better.

If you book as one long cruise, you can ask the Captain's Circle rep to give you the second cruise credit. You can also call Princess after the cruise to request the second credit.

I recently sailed the Buenos Aires to LA cruise booked as 2 cruises (14 & 17 days) resulting in $1,000 in military/shareholder OBC vs. $500 if booked as one cruise & we also received more FCC OBC by booking as 2 cruises.

I do the same thing & have had the same experience...sometimes it's cheaper booking as multiple cruises and other times it's better booked as a single cruise.
