Says you will be charged a $250 cleaning fee

 

" Guests who smoke in their staterooms or on their balconies will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign shipboard account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival's ticket contract."

 

So i will pay the $250 simple as that

© Smoking is prohibited in all public areas except in designated exterior open deck areas, certain night clubs, and designated areas in the casino. All staterooms and suite accommodations are an entirely smoke free environment, including the outside balcony (Effective October 9, 2014). Guest agrees to strictly comply with Carnival’s non-smoking policy. Guest further acknowledges and agrees that any violation of this policy shall, in the sole discretion of Carnival, constitute a material breach of this cruise contract. In the event of such breach, Guest forfeits all rights hereunder, including the right to remain on board. Carnival reserves the right to disembark the Guest(s), at any port, as determined by Carnival. Carnival shall not be liable for any refund or other compensation or damages whatsoever to any Guest disembarked pursuant to this provision, or who disembarks because another Guest is so disembarked, and all such Guests forfeit all rights under Carnival’s “Vacation Guarantee.” Guest and Carnival further agree that any violation of the non-smoking policy would also cause Carnival to incur damages, including but not limited to, loss of Guest goodwill, revenue, cleaning, maintenance and/or other costs. Guest and Carnival expressly acknowledge the difficulty of ascertaining the amount of such damages, and therefore agree that a reasonable estimate of the damages for any violation of the non-smoking policy is $250 USD. Guest authorizes a charge in this amount as liquidated damages, as well as repatriation expenses (including airfare) against Guest’s on board charge account, without further notice, for any violation of the non-smoking policy.

Bringing wine or Champagne onboard: It's allowed, but you'll have to pay a corkage fee for all wine that is brought onboard. Fees are $15 for 750ml bottles, $20 for 1,000ml and $30 for 1,500ml. Boxed wine is not allowed.

 

Purchasing liquor in port: It will be retained until the end of the cruise.

Also the corkage fee is charged as you check in. No drinking it in the cabin without being charged corkage.

That's good to know. I'm not sure Carnival cruisers would pay the HAL premium, but they might. Even though Carnival may lose some smokers to other lines, they should also pick up non-smokers that had been staying away because of balcony smoke. Since most people don't smoke, I don't see this hurting Carnival.

And if you don't have asthma and allergies to everything, including cigarette smoke, you should probably think before you speak/post. ( I'm allergic to hot air, too....:cool:)

 

And how many knots are we going when the ship is in port?Thank you Carnival.

NO, the fee is charged when you bring your wine to dinner or to a bar. I always bring my own corkscrew, open it in the room, and bring it to dinner. Never been charged....

You won't smoke on the balcony next to me. Because I'll complain every single time I smell smoke out there. I'll demand to be moved because they are not enforcing the rules. One of us will have to go. Guess which one it will be? ;)

 

 

Well said! I will also be one of the first people to complain. It pisses me off that people think they are above any rules or regulations!

I spend most of my time in the casino during the evenings , now people who smoke will be filling up the casinos , lounges and even the Lido deck

 

Is this really better for the non smokers

I am a nonsmoker who has asthma. I always book a balcony. I have yet to be overwhelmed by smoke caused by cigerettes while on my balcony. I am booked on the Magic for April. I also booked my daughter. Both her and her fiance smoke. I purposefully booked them a balcony in order for them to smoke. I called her thinking she would be upset over the change...and she is not. She said that she did not care, she was getting to cruise and that was what is important to her. She asked if there were other places on the ship that she could smoke and of course there are, so she is happy.

 

I understand this is not good news for most, but it is for some. I had more issues with the smoke while in the casino rather then on my balcony...fix that and I would be happy!

I am an NCL cruiser and an NCL stockholder. So when I read the number of Carnival cruisers who are so angered by the smoking policy changes on their cruise line of choice, that they are going to cancel their booking and jump ship to NCL, I say "COME ON OVER!" :D

However, I am a non-smoker and I respectfully ask you to follow the NCL smoking policies. Plus, NCL doesn't allow any smoking in the nightclubs, and has limited smoking areas on the decks on and above the pool area.

 

NCL offers an affordable product, with a variety of cruisers, from honeymooners, the elderly, extended families, singles and like myself (ahem) the middle aged but super fun and awesomely cool married couple. Oh, and our current daily service charge is $12 and NCL also offers an unlimited beverage program. Go to NCL's website or use the search in C.C. to update yourself on it.

 

Again, WELCOME FORMER CARNIVAL CRUISERS TO NCL!!!!

p.s. I forgot to add, we don't want the grumpy, complaining, chair hogging, buffet line cutting, theater seat saving, cruisers. We have enough of those cruisers along for the ride already...;):rolleyes:

If you read the conversation, they were talking about NCL. You can bring as much wine as you can carry onto NCL but must pay a corkage fee of $15.00 per bottle, regardless of where you drink it.

Too bad they could not have at least limited smoking to one side of ship.

 

Now we will not be cruising again.

 

We will not go NCL because I do not think my autistic daughter will be welcomed. Plus, i hate the dining policy.

 

Guess its land trips for now on.

 

Check with HAL. They have early/late dining like Carnival and they still allow smoking on the balcony.

LOL - Love this! And yes, I am already planning my next cruise with NCL! Not grumpy, not a chair hogger, not a cutter or seat saver, and the only thing I complain about are the complainers! ;)

HAL is owned by CCL anyway, and therefore would not get my cruise dollars. I will sail NCL unless/until they too are bullied at which time I guess I will learn to love land based vacations again.

 

 

Bullied? Really? It's called keeping up with the times and what the majority of people want. It's called a smart business decision!

Just curious - why are you sailing on Royal in December if you want to be able to smoke on your balcony?
