Squirty27 Posted July 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Are small 48" round pools allowed on Breakaway? I know some ships allow them. Our grand daughter is 11 months old. Thank you
meglet Posted July 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2014 I've read of posters bringing them before. If you're cruising in summer, you might want to give some thought as to where you'll put it. Some posters have put small splash pools on their cabin balconies. Having only been on the Dawn in summer, the Lido is SO packed, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a space for it. dinzitari Posted July 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2014 As someone who is traveling the same ship (8/31) with a 1.5 year old, I would say that a 4ft foot pool is just too large to bring. It will stand out quite a bit and take up a good deal of space. For me, rule of thumb should be to limit to the amount of space a deck chair would occupy. I purchased this, as it seems the most reasonable in terms of size and water logistics. : http://www.walmart.com/ip/Disney-Princess-Inflatable-Bathtub/15657408
Johnny Bananas Posted July 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) 48" is way too big for the amount of deck space on the pool deck. I've seen people with these before: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/munchkin-white-hot-safety-duck-tub/1013589704?device=c&network=g&matchtype=&mcid=PS_googlepla_nonbrand_bath_&gclid=CjwKEAjw9LKeBRDurOugs43jnlgSJACUXqHxHaf2JzgzNGM_3mAI68bLtuarBOXWeRKzbuEhzFixMxoCkjnw_wcB Edited July 21, 2014 by Johnny Bananas
Ilovesailing Posted July 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) Just what folks want under your balcony is water splashing/dripping down unto their railing then on to them. The balconies are small enough with some having overhang so you have sit right at the railing to get sun. HighVoltage#9 Posted July 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2014 Book a M6,that balcony is big enough for that pool and you don't have anyone under you to bother.I was going to put one on my M6 last year for myself, not for the kids, just because I could! iceberg1116 Posted November 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Going to do the same. Can the blow up pools mentioned fit in the bathroom? Thanks. Edited November 10, 2014 by iceberg1116
Rare conandrob240 Posted November 10, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Leave it at home. Balcony is way too small as is the bathroom. Pool decks way too crowded. They'll be happy in the Spongebob splash pad area.
garycarla Posted November 10, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) I see this come up from time to time and really do not get it. A 1 year old will not feel left out because they are not in the pool. They will not see the ocean and think "gee, I want to sit in some water". If somebody went and stayed at a mountain lodge, would then take a pool? Or a hotel? Draggin it, unpacking it, filling it, trying to empty it, etc seems like alot of effort to make the parents feel good. As to fitting in the bathroom - sure you could squeeze it in the there - wall to wall. But, why? Edited November 10, 2014 by garycarla

If you really want your child to have some water to play with, take a small bucket and fill it so the child can dip in and get wet. That's more than enough for a little one. iceberg1116 Posted November 10, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Just thinking it might be better to bath them in the pool rather than having the little one held while bathing. It seems like a bunch of people mention that they do it so I thought it may be a good idea.

cb at sea Posted November 10, 2014 #16 Share Posted November 10, 2014 When folks talk about bringing a blow-up tub....they mean a TUB...not a swimming pool! A tot only needs to splash to be happy...they don't need an entire pool!

Thank you I think it is way too large, but if it fits on your balcony, by all means take it, but please don't take it to the pool deck and take up that much space, as it is crowded enough. Barb Nahoumi Posted November 10, 2014 #19 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Those little blow-up tubs can fit on the floor of your shower, making it easy to bathe baby.
jmcookiemonster25 Posted November 10, 2014 #20 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Leave the pool home. Leave the kid home too. That was extremely unnecessary.
garycarla Posted November 11, 2014 #21 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Leave the pool home. Leave the kid home too. I totally agree with leaving the pool at home. As to the kid - to each their own. I would assume there are some other siblings or something as well. If people want to take a one year old on a cruise, then go for it. I would not do it, but it is fine if others want to. My brother did it with 2 &3 year old kids - and could not wait to get home to relax. Again, it is fine for those that want to do it.

oregoncruiselover Posted November 11, 2014 #24 Share Posted November 11, 2014 I am bringing one for my almost 2 year old. We have other kids that will be in the big pool and I think that she also needs a place to play. Don't worry about what others think.
