Tricks/Tips/Secrets to get the most out of Cheers Program

You can usually get them to give you unopened bottles of beer with Cheers. A couple of bucks here and there and you have a new best friend....

So assuming I'm able to get unopened bottles, do you know of anyone or have you taken them to Amber Cove or Grand Turk before in a soft sided cooler like is mentioned in 2014? Way earlier in this thread or has that changed and not allowed to do that any longer?

Did it in Grand Turk in January of 2015 with no problem. Get beers the night before to top out your 15 for the day and keep them in your fridge. Get ice from the buffet to put over the beer in your collapsible cooler.

We are going on the Sunshine in November and are planning on getting the Cheers program and was wondering if anybody had any good tips/tricks/secrets they would not mind sharing on how to get the most out of the Cheers program, whether it be financially, drinkwise or whatever. I have read most of the threads for the Cheers program, but, really have not seen that many with tips/tricks/secrets for the Cheers program.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Just drink as much as you can as fast as you can as often as possible. You've paid for this program, get yer moneys worth. Don't worry about getting faced, becoming an idiot, and barfing all night, worry about value!

If you've purchased this program and you are sober for more than 5 minutes during your entire vacation, you've blown it.

Drink, drink, and drink some more. Have no fear!

The rest of us need the entertainment.

Our last cruise got a free drinks package & DH would get a shot of whiskey ..didn't finish it...saved it ....next day added it to water for a cocktail....didn't need to go to bar & enjoyed it on our balcony. Did that again right before getting to our cabin @ night & had several shots saved for next evening ...he could enjoy a mixed drink he made at our cabin whenever he wanted without going to the bar all the time.

Has anyone recently ordered bottles of been (unopened) successfully? Also has anyone taken coolers of beer to Amber Cove or Grand Turk recently?
We do it all the time from the drinks on us card from the Casino. Like already mentioned a few bucks works magic. We always got the big fosters cans. Taking off the ship is no biggie either they mostly care about bringing back booze from port. Myself I used to drink rum so I'd take 2 sports bottles one full of dark rum I bought from Bon Voyage and one full of ginger ale and have my own little beach party.

Forgot to add you can get cheap local beer if you walk down the beach in grand Turk past the chairs That are set up for us cruisers. I think I got a 6 pack for like $12 or so

Here's what I did, order a liquor neat. My choice was Crown Royal.

Go down to your cabin, pour that drink into an empty bottle.

You cannot believe how fast you can get enough for the port day.

Also with the drink package, you should never have hand without a glass in it.

If you are having a light night you and whoever else is on the program grab a beer every 5 mins till you max out and put them in the fridge so if you have a day your limit is reached you have back up... Its been done.

I thought they opened them for you?

Drink what you can..order the balance of your drinks "NEAT" and them fill your flask for port days
Something better than ordering it neat would be ordering say a grey goose martini straight up hold the vermouth. Or a crown Manhattan with a dash of vermouth straight up. These drinks or any martini, Manhattan type drinks are poured as " long pours " which in a nutshell is more liquor for a slight upcharge,we charge $3 more . If it were me I'd do that and ask for a rocks glass pour it out of the martini glass into the rocks glass and take it to your cabin :) cheers

Someone once mentioned to me that you can't drink all day if you don't start Early~

Also - if you drink Beer - if you order Fosters - it's way way bigger than regular sized beer and still falls under Cheers -so you get really really great bang for using 1 drink point! :)

+1 figured this out on last cruise and is a great beer to bring to balcony cabin with you. I am also not above putting several glasses of wine in my insulated water bottle for consumption later on the cabin balcony.

So question. Say I order shots of vodka and bring those along to Grand Turk to have by the pool, in my flask, there are no issues with me enjoying that with some tonic water by the pool at Margaritaville? Land-based resorts would be cheesed if you did this. But I'd likely just buy the mixer there with some lime slices.

I'm sure Margaritaville doesn't condone you bringing in your own alcohol to drink in their establishment just like they would frown if you brought your own burger. No different than on land in the US.

There's a big difference between what one is supposed to do and what one is able to "get away with". That is the very core of every debate on these forums, whether it's hogging chairs, dress codes, toddlers in pools, sharing Cheers, and many more.

I think you already know what the RIGHT thing to do is (not bring outside alcohol into a business establishment).

Please does anyone know if Carnival Legend stocks the liqueur Crème De Menthe? I'm hoping to do a 3 night cruise out of Melbourne, Australia in 2019.

I've learnt LOTS just from reading this thread, including a size to check my cooler bag that I usually use for frozen shopping. If it's the right size I'll bring it with me, it folds up quite small for packing.
