Lvnmylife85 Posted September 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Hey folks, I remember admiring the features of the Breakaway since before they started building it and recall that in honor of the New york theme, there would be Sabrett hot dog carts on deck somewhere. Did these ever make an appearance? If so, are they still there? I don't see them listed anywhere on the NCL website. I know this couldn't have been part of my imagination lol Let me know if they got axed. Thanks!:)
chrisc71 Posted September 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2014 There are two. One is by the main pool and the other goes outside H2O. Limited hours during the day.
dexddd Posted September 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) They had limited hours. The one by the pool they stored it at the bottom of the stairs going up to Uptown Grill on the starboard side. I think it was around 11:30 the day I noticed him getting it ready then he went and parked by the bar between the two pools. I also saw a cart one day mid afternoon on 7 or 8 just forward of the atrium. Edited September 25, 2014 by dexddd
Lvnmylife85 Posted September 25, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 25, 2014 That is awesome news! Thank you both!!! I expect them to actually be cleaner since its NCL rather than those dirty water dogs that NYC street vendors sell lol
The Beaner Posted September 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2014 They might be cleaner but when I had them - on 3 separate occasions - they were nowhere near hot!! That is awesome news! Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted September 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2014 I was on a hunt to find the stand also (finally did on the last sea day). The hours are very limited as mentioned. On our sailing they only offered on the 3 days that were fully at sea (Mon, Tues, and Sat). The hours were 3:00-4:30 on Saturday of our sailing, not sure if they were open longer on Monday or Tuesday. I also agree with the above poster on the taste, I was slightly disappointed so don't get your hopes up for the real=deal NY hot dog experience, but it was certainly a fun little novelty. Have fun! The Breakaway is a beautiful ship :)
cv322 Posted September 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2014 I was on the Breakaway on 5/4/2014 & 9/7/2014...and never once saw a hot dog cart ! Darn it!
bbryan5 Posted September 26, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2014 I was on the Breakaway on 5/4/2014 I too was on the May 4th sailing on the Breakaway. The hot dog cart was out quite a bit around the pool. We got dogs 2 or 3 different days.
meatball_nyc Posted September 26, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2014 We had their hot dogs a few times in Spice H2O during the afternoon. Washed em down with a few cold ones. :) ~Robin Every Day at Sea is a Great Day
funNJfamily Posted September 26, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 26, 2014 My neighbor called it the roaming hot dog cart. She said it was never in the same place twice .
dexddd Posted September 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 26, 2014 Yes, they are quite elusive. The one was parked when not in use in the place I mentioned above. We happened to be going to Uptown Grill and saw it parked there getting readied so I followed him and got in line which grew quickly. They should make a game out of - can you find the hot dog carts - maybe they could even put it on their IConcierge app.
gizfish Posted September 26, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 26, 2014 We also found a cart one night during dinner hours at the back part of the buffet.

sebas030 Posted September 30, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 30, 2014 On our cruise we were looking for it for 2 days...finally asked a man and a woman at the customer service desk, neither knew about the hot dog cart  We finally found it between the main pool and the slides around lunch time. They serve so many hot dog, they do not have time to get really hot before being served to pax.

Scott2.0 Posted September 30, 2014 #19 Share Posted September 30, 2014 They were around last week but with very limited hours. Good dogs though. They should be around later in the night. I think they go away around 2pm which makes no sense at all.
HowardK Posted September 30, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 30, 2014 One evening they were in the atrium. One could skip the MDR and just have some hot dogs in that instance. Its nice when they are by the pool, you can grab a few during the day
Barb Nahoumi Posted October 1, 2014 #21 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I wish that they would have hot-dog carts on all NCL ships. On the Dawn from Boston, serve the dogs with Boston Baked Beans. On ships out of Florida and the Caribbean , serve with Salsa.
