Quantum of the Seas - Maiden Transatlantic Voyage - Nov 2-10, 2014 - Live Report

They probably don't have everything set up yet. This is a shake-down cruise. At the dining reveal in NYC, I was told that they would have kids menus. I will be on Quantum Nov. 21 and will let you know.

I am sure that RC will make adjustments as they go along.

Please provide any updates or additional information from Guest Services or other restaurants regarding kid's menus. This could be a deal breaker and cause me to cancel my cruise in Feb if they will not have kids menus in all of the restaurants. We should not have to rely on Windjammer. I recall in the Dynamic Dining webcast with Adam that he indicated there would be kids menus and there would also be the alternate menus with standard basic dish options similar to like they have in current MDR on other ships.

Had a voicemail on the phone. We have dinner reserved in chic tonight and message said that kids spag Bol would be waiting for us! I will keep you updated on the kids menu as I said before the restaurants manager I spoke to at GS did say they were working on them. Just not ready yet. Not happy about it but it's not going to ruin the cruise especially if they keep making the little one spag Bol every night she will be more than happy!

Frankly, they probably weren't expecting many / there probably aren't many kids on board this sailing... so RCI probably figured that sure, they may upset a few people but it wasn't essential to have it ready to go for the TA. Just my $.02. Hope this gets sorted out for everyone else in short order!

I am not on board, but can confirm that is definitely not the case. Because of the way their constellation is configured, O3b's primary service is only available at + or - 45 degrees of latitude (i.e in a belt around the middle of the globe :)) Further north or south they can offer limited service up to about + or - 62 degrees, I think. So most of Northern Europe (which after all is not their core market) is outside their primary coverage area.

Thanks for that info. I wonder how it will be when I'm on her in the Caribbean next April. Will be interesting to see

Sure a slap to us on the Oct. Oasis TA that got nothing!!!

We had more than hiccups....

We got the; Meet the Italian second in line Cruise Director and Raffle by Invitational at the worst location so people can not even talk to each other event.

Who wants the key chain?

I am currently sitting at Michael's Genuine after a FABULOUS meet and mingle (more on that below) and getting ready to add more photos to the Shutterfly site.

We had a HUGE meet and mingle with much of the senior staff and RCCL executives in attendance. They were passing out champagne and mimosas and had an impressive spread of sweet and savory "nibblies" for us. They were very gracious in acknowledging the "hiccups" and have offered everyone 25% of the price we paid for this cruise off a future cruise and a certain amount of onboard credit (based on cabin type) to spend on this cruise. Once again, Royal goes above and beyond.

I saw this and I am astounded!

Treating the Quantum guests like royalty and giving the passengers on the Westbound Oasis TA who were treated like cattle with little or no customer service and as another posted put it 'had more than hiccups!' absolutely nothing.

First - thanks to all aboard for doing this.

Second - if the rest of us virtual cruisers could limit the quoting and not copying and pasting entire posts and pictures, that would make this thread a lot more user friendly. Just a gentle suggestion.

I think this gentle suggestion should apply to every thread. Why people feel the need to copy a dozen pictures, just to say "Great pictures!" is beyond me...

Hi everyone - I'll report more later, and as Tracy mentioned, we had a fabulous Meet and Mingle!! After that we did the cabin crawl, which was so much fun!!! Thank you to Kirsten for organizing it so well. Pics will be posted later.

After the cabin crawl, DH and I did iFly. So much fun! It requires a reservation, which I had done in the morning. The first booking is complimentary for a 1 minute ride, and then subsequent two minute sessions can be booked at $49.95.

It was a fun experience! Very different and the staff is top notch. It was easy - I definitely want to do it again.

Because of the weather, the Flowrider, Rock Wall Climbing and North Star are closed. Weather is supposed to be better tomorrow.

More pictures will be posted later, but here's more food porn from Michael's.

Thanks for the food porn, keep it coming! :) One request if it's convenient (ignore if not) -- is the room service menu the same in your SGS as it is the other cabins? Am periodically checking your Shutterfly page. :) We are in a GS Dec. 12th so curious if all the surcharges will be there.

Thanks again and hope you're having an awesome time, kinks and bouncy ship aside! :)

Trying to add on to the Excel spreadsheet but it looks like it is read only. Is there any special way of fixing that or do I just post my question here?

Just in case, my question is do they have any RCL specific purse patterns in Michael Kors or Kate Spade like Disney does? I sure hope so!

Also would you believe no place on deck 4 or 5 to get a drink before 11am. Brought the family down a few decks to settle them and can't get a drink anywhere unless we have soda package and use machines. Just hot drinks and water. I just want a can of diet coke! Asked at GS told only place open is pool bar. Don't really want to take a sick child to deck 14. You would think somewhere down here would be open for a drink!

Wow, not even the casino bar was open?

I will do a review later having a bad one today will post details later our cabin 8110 with its position is like a roller coaster at the moment. Wife and daughter throwing up all morning.

No kids menu in any of the main restaurants. Having dined MDR previously with little one eating off that we kind of assumed there would be a kids menu in at least one of the venues. But no! Told to eat in the windjammer which I hate. They say he kids menu in main venues are just smaller portions of what's on offer. Think they should have made us aware of this at point of booking. Had to leave American icon last night and go Jonny rockets. Just a kids spag. Bol in a main siding room would be nice. Spoke to restaurant manager though and she did say they were working on kids menu but not ready yet so future cruisers might have one!

Ship is wonderful. Just feeling down today slept awful with lots of banging from now of ship and little one being sick everywhere isn't helping.

When I feel better will do a full live review on a separate thread so look out for it. Ship is beautiful though

Interesting, as I am pretty sure Royal's cruise planner says that childrens menus are available in most of the venues.

Hope you feel better soon.

Just out of curiosity, I just searched and couldn't find it. Do you know how it's listed?

It's item #151463447532. Seller is mmnh8jcc Apparently they're from the U.K. It's listed under COLLECTIBLES - TRANSPORTATION - BOATS & SHIPS - CRUISE LINERS - OTHER, calling it Quantum Of The Seas WOW Band.
