We have sailed on the Emerald twice and loved her. You should be able to see lot's of pics, deck plans etc if you go to the Princess website. Also there will be reviews here on CC.

The centre of the ship, the Piazza on deck 5, 6,7 is a great hub of the ship. That's where the International Cafe is - lots of yummy treats, soup, salads, sandwiches -all no charge. Drinks are extra. They also make a nice breakfast sandwich, like an egg McMuffin - great to grab for a quick breakfast. And you have to try a cronut - cross between a croissant and a donut. Yummy.

In the Piazza there will be all sorts of entertainment off and on all day.

The shows in the Princess theatre are great. The top deck open air "movies under the stars" every night are fun.

There are 3 main dining rooms - 2 are anytime, 1 is traditional set dining.

The crew is great. You can expect friendly helpful service from all the staff.

Enjoy your cruise.

You will love it. Explore the ship your first day and learn your way around. On the passenger cabin decks, the hallway with the red in the carpet tells you that is the port side. Make a reservation to eat at the Crown Grill. Do the same for the Crab Shack when it is offered. There is a fee for these dining venues of $25 and $20 per person respectively. Make reservations early in the cruise to get a better chance of getting the time and date you want. Investigate the various drink packages offered to see if any would be economical for you. You will find multiple tables set up to sell these on embarkation day.

Surcharge restaurants include Crown Grill and Sabatini's (Italian). They also have the Crab Shack in a section of the buffet a few times each cruise. Call the DINE line for reservations.

When you board go directly to your cabin, it will be ready. Place your stuff into the cabin safe and start your cruise.

There will be many evening activities and shows, you can't do them all, so check out what you like.

Want to avoid pool crowds? Check out the Terrace Pool Deck 14 aft which is adults only. In the main pool area on the Lido deck Neptune's Reef Pool is movie free all day. The Calypso Reef pool has movies and other videos running all day.

The middle pool is not covered, the internet is not used much (people now seem to use their own devices) and there are 2 anytime restaurants....otherwise she is similar to the other ships in this class.

Enjoy your cruise.:)

  • 2 weeks later...

Have not been on the Emerald however I have been on the Ruby and other similar Princess Ships. The aft pool is great. I also love the Lotus pool. It is adults only and is usually quiet. It has a swim against the current machine for doing stationery laps.

If you go to breakfast or lunch in the MDR, ask to be seated at the table of a lovely waitress we had the pleasure of meeting on the TA that brought the Emerald to Houston by the name of Zanne (pronounced zahnah) and tell her the crazy table from the transatlantic sent you. :)
