Diamond Perks

Recommended Posts

We have booked our first cruise on RC Independence in July with our GS. We are registered and considered Diamond class as we are Elite on Celebrity.

Reviewing the "Perks" I fail to see any real useful items on the list. Early embarkation and disembarkation is usually worthless. Any help or hidden things we should know. With Celebrity we get free limited internet, free laundry. All helpful. Does RC have any equivalent. Thanks.

The diamond benefits for RCI are pretty close to the elite benefits of Celebrity. Some better, some not.

As noted, there is a balcony discount. There are also coupons for Internet, spa discounts, photos, etc. You will have the benefit of a diamond lounge (because you are celebrity elite or the concierge lounge because you are in a full suite) to include services of a concierge, self serve specialty coffee machine, nightly cocktail hour (every night including the first night) as well as three drink vouchers (loaded to your sea pass card ) for you to have a variety of limited drinks at venues around the ship. Drink menu and hours for bar voucher use is limited to the same beverages and time as the nightly cocktail hour in the diamond lounge. There will be detailed info in the cabin regarding the drink voucher system .

The lounge also provides a continental breakfast , similar to the elite breakfast, except there is no complimentary alcohol at breakfast hours.

There will be a complete listing of coupons in your cabin. We find the benefits to somewhat comparable.

Enjoy

there will be a list of the perks in your cabin, all of which are loaded on to your sea pass card. things like BYGOF drinks, or a slight discount on drinks. BYGOF shakes at Johnny rockets. BOGOF pictures, casino perks, etc. there might be a coupon for a discount on internet. I do not think you start earning free minutes until D+.

the big draw to D is the balcony discount and access to the Diamond Lounge.

-the balcony discount is always nice.

-the diamond lounges are nice with specialty coffee machine, a place to relax and then drinks in the evening...or you can use the three drinks per evening that are loaded on you sea pass card.

-Diamonds do get some free limited Internet

-we enjoy picking out free pictures; we almost never buy pictures

-Laundry perks is not too great as D; just a discount on a bag

-you'll get an invite to a top tier event; some are very nice

Cosidering you are new to the sister lines those are pretty nice perks for corporate to bestow. have a lovely time.

The slight difference of loyalty benefits between RCCL and Celebrity is good for variety. At least this shows that these 2 sister cruise lines are different from each other by brand, attracts different crowds, and provides different cruising atmosphere.

So the reciprocal benefits gives you the power of choice of having another type of cruise line with similar status to begin with. And being able to choose which one suits you in the end.

It would be boring if both RCCL and Celebrity became exactly the same to point you can't differentiate anymore whether you are cruising RCCL or Celebrity.

Flip flop this topic for a second please?

What kind of benefits or "perks" would a Diamond receive on Celebrity? I'm sure it's been covered but just thought I'd sneak this question into this thread!

Feel like I should already know but I don't. We're considering trying Celebrity in the near future thus the question.

Thanks in advance for any input!

No, suite guests that are not Diamond level or above do not currently get any drink vouchers.

Thanks you for your replies. I'm glad those addtl. items are included as you'd never know from the C&A site.

some of the things we have mentioned are "coupons" (now electronic on sea pass cards. The coupon offers change once in a while, not often in my experience, but as changeable offers, they are not on the website. so you must go and find your favorite perks!

not unless you are a Diamond or up and in a suite

suites have access to either a Concierge lounge or a true suite lounge which offers the same cocktail hour amenities.

It is a pic of the ship only. At least on Celebrity. Oh Boy!!

Oh, then you should like this offer much better. On Royal Carribean, there is an electronic coupon for a free picture on sea pass cards of D and higher member. So each D cruiser can go to the photo gallery, select their favorite photo taken by ship photographers, and take it home gratis.

On other lines, we rarely pose for ship photographers, as we know we are unlikely to buy a picture. On Royal Caribbean ships we stop for the embarkation photo (getting that first one taken seems to increase odds facial recognition program will aid in sorting our pictures) and we regularly smile for the cameras throughout the voyage, so we will have a pool from which to select pur freebie.

It's a part of the spa including some steam things and fancy tile chairs to sit on, etc.

I personally think the perks are much better w/RCCL. You get 30 mins free Internet or a percentage (20%?) off a package; 1 free photo of your choosing each; and not only longer Diamond Lounge hours (it was 4:30 to 8 when I was on the Serenade) but 3 drink coupons each per night. Oh, and not to mention the Diamond balcony discount, which ranges according to length of cruise (e.g., $225 on a 7-day cruise). Way better in my opinion anyway.

From the listing I posted Celebrity seems gives you 90 minutes of free internet....on some cruises we use our combined 60 minutes (30 for each of us) yet on others we barely use any....but for some 90 minutes is a nicer perk -- especially if it is per person, not per cabin.

I like the Royal balcony discount and the way they handle the drink vouchers if you can't get to or don't want to go to the Diamond Lounge.

Thanks for sharing the info....all.
