Offers received from Club Royale (Royal Caribbean)

With all the changes that they hit me with - the one thing I wasn't told was that casino rates and certificates were mutually exclusive for previously booked cruises.

I was explained that it wasn't - but in my case, those cruises that I had previously booked with a casino rate - were either from a future cruise certificate booked thru CR (which they consider being booked onboard) or had the 150 solo supplement that froze them from certificates, or the cruise price went up since it was booked, but my previously booked cruises were not frozen because of the casino rate.

I saw on a previous thread that they are now allowing C&A discounts and C&A rates to get certificates. I hope that is true and that includes the 150 percent solo discount - it wasn't true when I was working with the supervisors at CR at the end of the year.

I was told by the CR desk yesterday that C&A discounts nor C&A rates are allowed with a Casino Certificate.

How do the Casino Cruise Certificate ($ off) work? Mr. Ski was awarded one on a recent sailing. He understood from the Casino Host that it could be applied to any sailing booked. TA says it only applies to bookings done through the Casino Royale desk at the casino rates. We have no idea how this works and I have read (but not paid enough attention obviously!) that there have been program changes recently.

All info from anyone with recent experience with this type certificate greatly appreciated!

I received a FCC on my first RCCL cruise. It was a short 4 day Enchantment sailing in December. Looked around and decided we wanted to use the certificate for a Serenade sailing Canada / New England in September. Contacted my TA and she chased down CR folks and made it happen. I received the CR rate and my FCC. I did not receive any OBC or other TA perks from the TA as the casino rate was less than her group rate and did not leave much for meat on the bone for the TA. Overall I am happy but will probably just contact CR directly next time I receive a certificate.

OK, how about this offer I received in the mail?

The front of the postcard said, enjoy a complimentary stateroom on the Oasis.

The back of the postcard said the very same thing.

When I opened up the card (you know how they stick together) it then said: $250 OFF your casino rate! WHAT?

I called Club Royal and inquired, mind you I was ready to book one of the 2 sailings to chose from (complimentary sure, only would have to pay taxs & fees).

Well, the casino agent did not believe me about the comped cabin, I even gave her the code. She then asked me to send a picture of the offer to her email. OK, I get out my ipad, take the pic, front & back. She gets it and confirms to me that it should be comped. OK she said hold on while I check this out.

She comes back on the phone and then said, sorry its only for the $250 off.

This was difenitly a bait & switch and I told her so! A comp is a comp, not $$$$ off the casino rate.

And I said no thanks!

Anyone ever run into anything like this before?

I was really mad over this!

I received the same offer and the same thing happened to me when I called. It seems the "bait and switch" tactic has been happening more and more. Not only with Casino Royale but with other offers; drink package sales, BOGO etc.

BUT, I still book with Casino Royale because you can't beat the rate, so far anyway.

I received an offer in the mail yesterday morning saying they had awarded me a complimentary cruise certificate I'm based in the uk. I presume it's due to the harmony TA last year and pretty much living in the casino at night.

The letter states I have to go to one of two events held at casinos here in the uk to collect my certificate now the closest one is an 8 hour round trip therefore I don't want to travel all that way if non of the cruises listed on the certificate are feasible to do.

Does anyone know if the shorter sailings from Southampton are normally included in the list ?

We have 2 cruises booked this year already and don't want to add the extra expense of flights onto this free cruise.

Any info would be great thanks

I called up Club Royale this afternoon to inquire about a March 2018 cruise. I think this may have been the first time I called Club Royale and was able to take advantage of qualified casino rates without involving a granted-onboard "free cruise"/dollars-off certificate.

The first part of the conversation started just as it would with any Royal Caribbean representative. The Club Royale representative gave me the current WOW promotion rates and was ready to book me at that price without even looking into whether I qualified for better rates with Club Royale.

When I asked about any potential casino rates, he first asked whether I had received any offers. I told him that although I had received some, they're all for the next few months and nothing for 2018 yet. He then checked my play from my last cruise. After that, he did then say that I qualified for casino rates.

Here's how the pricing ended up for a C2 (Central Park balcony) cabin on Oasis of the Seas on March 18, 2018 comparing the current WOW sale combined with my Diamond Crown & Anchor balcony discount versus the current casino rate plus the promotional credit based on past play:

WOW Sale Club Royale Casino Rate
            -------------------- --------------------
     Guest #1 Guest #2 Guest #1 Guest #2
            -------- -------- -------- --------
Cruise Fare 1428.00 1428.00 1428.00 1428.00

C&A Rate -225.00
BOGO 60% -857.00

Casino Rate -602.00 -602.00
YHP5-Casino Slots -210.00 -210.00

Taxes, etc. 108.94 108.94 108.94 108.94
     	     ========    ========     ========    ========
Total 1311.94 679.94 724.94 724.94

Avg/person $995.94 $729.94

So, I'm saving $266/person thanks to Club Royale.

Of note, however, the WOW sale would offer $100 in onboard credit, thus lowering my net benefit to $216/person since I can't double-dip promotional rates.

Also, if I had only qualified for the casino rate and didn't get the additional credit based on my past-play, the net Club Royale rate would have been $934.94 which, when compared against the WOW sale with the $100 onboard credit (effective price $945.94), would only be $11/person better, given my Crown & Anchor balcony discount.

Does anyone know the email address for the casino players team? Last year both mum and I got certs for a freebie cruise which we combined and used for a free UK cruise but I've since been told I can ask them for a price without a cert too?? Is this correct? We have a spare week in Florida after our family leave and before we get the transatlantic back to the UK that I'd love to book a cruise for. UK prices are coming up high and wondered if the casino team would offer a better price.

We received the certificates as well and were told we had to book through the casino and the fares would be in US funds, we are Canadian, and we couldn't apply the certificates to any current cruises because they are booked in Canadian funds. I hope This information is helpful, we are still trying to figure out the program, and maybe some more experienced casino players will have some input. Good luck!

We are Canadian as well. You are right, you cannot apply the certificates to cruises booked in Canadian dollars. Based on the Casino Rate offered we subsequently cancelled the cruises booked in Canadian Dollars (funds went back to our Credit Card). You cannot combine other offers, e.g. Crown and Anchor Discounts so it is important you do the math first and determine at what rate the CR offer would be better than what you current have booked or could book on your own. Once you have that figure in USD you are good to make the call to the Casino Group and see what you will be offered. We changed 4 bookings based on the rate offered.:D

The representatives I spoke to have all been very helpful and patient.

I'm new to playing casinos on board and have a question. My husband and I are interested in playing slots on the ship (May 20 sailing). I've been reading on this board about perks and Club Royale. Since we don't play a lot, would it be worth it for us to join Club Royale for the perks or is that even possible since we're not "big spenders"? Thank you!

According to a previous post, you'll need to drop about $3500 into the slots to get a $100 rebate.

From what we've been told The VIP club is invitation only, mum and I had 5 cruises with rccl before they said we were eligible to be VIP members. You can still collect the points for playing simply by inserting your seapass card into the machine you are playing. The points add up and you can either exchange them for play value in the machine or other things like t shirts, drinks, keychains etc. If you make 2400 points then the cruise voucher is issued on your last nite. Best way is to chat to the casino host on your first nite.

FYI: we spent $1700, which included reinvesting winnings, as per the casino host on Anthem, had 2600 points I believe, and received a $500 voucher, no free cruise here

Wow i never kept track of how much a gamble, hopefully the host wont tell me either lol, it'd prob give me a heart attack ;-) we've only received a "free"cruise each once but as none of the cruises were suitable they exchanged it to a $500 voucher each, other times we only got $100-$200 vouchers, which we never used as the timings were never right for us to cruise, really wish they didn't have the short expiry dates on them, we'd cruise a lot more if they let us use it on a cruise later on.

Will be on Brilliance next week ...will ask :) But no news/ updates from Club Royale ...Personally I think what we have now that what we will have :( Missed old program :(

The only thing "new" is you're only as good as

Your last cruise. Only one certificate plus one "offer" based on the last sailing. No more multiple offers based on one cruise.

Same old, same old with the program. I wonder if there is anymore info to come from CR down the road. Have a wonderful time and best of luck to both of you.

Hi Linda - where are you for New Year's eve? We'll be around the corner from you (haha) on the Anthem - cruise leaves Dec. 30. Alla - what about you and Boris?

Next week we head to Rome for the Jewel Med Greek Isle and Italy sailing - very port intensive. Will need a vacation after that cruise...
