Woke up this morning, checking the threads I learned that there were a bunch of port time changes. Go to check my itinerary and of course it was changed without any notice. I am leaving on the Jewel for Alaska in 12 days!!! I am so upset, this is a trip of a lifetime for me and what is Alaska/canada with no whales. If I wasn't a part of this group when would I find out about this? The day of? So ridiculous. I had my whole day planned, excursion booked, attractions I wanted to see.

Not cool at all. I'm beyond disgusted with NCL at this point.

Changing my 2016 itinerary is one thing- but sailing in 12 days- I would be upset also!

That is very upsetting! When were they planning to tell you? I'm guessing NEVER. They were hoping you either wouldn't notice or wouldn't mind. So sneaky. Many who feel it's "no big deal" visit the same ports many times. But for those unlikely to "pass this way again" this can mean loosing the chance to do a long-dreamed-of item on their bucket list.

The changes in St. Thomas are particularly upsetting too because in that port 3 hours less translates into not enough time to take the ferry over to St. John.

What is the change? There may be alternative times for whale watching in Juneau. Has this been looked into. How was the whale watch booked? If independent, have you talked with the vendor?

A lot of missing information?

The excursion vendors work around the ships' schedules. They have to: it's their livelihoods. Call the vendor and let them know and I'll bet it will work out.

It still stinks, of course. I'm losing three hours in Bermuda next month. I'm not a happy cruiser.

I agree. I found out abut ours next March on PoA here on CC. Then I keep reading about the numerous port time reductions. Then I see they are being implemented on current sailings. That really stinks for all those folks who had planned on one thing and now it is shortened.

If the excursion is booked via NCL they'll likely work something out. If not they really won't care. If you can cancel and book via the ship then lifetime opportunity isn't lost, good luck.

Since you posted about your port times changing, I checked our reservation. Sure enough, two have changed port times. No notice from NCL. Without your post, I'd have no idea!

Thanks and good luck with your whale watching excursion. I'm sure it'll work out for you.

Unless your excursion involves other ships at the same time, yes they alter their tour. It's the vendors livelihood to do this rather than accept cancellations.

I just reread the OP's post and it looks like she/he is on my sailing on the Jewel....I was in a bit of panic when I read that.....

None of the Alaskan ports have changed times...JUST Victoria so unless she was planning whale watching there nothing will change.

Del Rio has to get those extra dollars from us. Fuel savings and more time for the casino to be open, for our convenience.

Of course only savvy cruisers will ever care about these changes

The newbies will be none the wiser

This is not cool at all.. The only reason I booked the September 5th cruise on the Jewel was because of the stop in Victoria. My mother wants to see the gardens. We will not see much at 5pm. No notice from Norwegian about the change either. UGH!!! so disappointing.:(

Sailing on the Breakaway out of NY this Sunday and just found out that we are sailing two hours earlier from Bermuda on the way back. Pretty much makes it impossible to do anything after lunch. An Email from NCL would have been nice. I'm sure that most of the passengers will not know about this until they board and then will have to spend extra money to try and cancel any plans they may have made. Maybe they'll allow free internet access so that plans can be canceled? Probably not…..

I'm pretty sure that is NCL's plan. Get nervous cruisers worried about getting back on time to book the overpriced cruise line excursions, which by the way were also bumped up in price this week.

The majority of Victoria port times are less than than the time you have. The only thing you have to confirm is the hours of Butchart Gardens, where, usually with cruise ships in port, they are open late. You would then have plenty of time to visit.

The OP has been "gone", but, I'll speculate they also jumped the gun with their claim.

Again, this time is perfectly doable for a Victoria whale watch, even going independent- on 6pm tours. Usual port times- with 6p or 7p arrivals have orca whale watches, unfortunately they are shortened, ship contracted with less favorable successful sighting stats.

And currently NO excursions are showing for Victoria now with the port time changed.

Wonder if that is just something strange with the Jewel? Our Pearl cruise has always been scheduled with Victoria from 6pm to 12 am. We have always had excursions available to book.

So in looking at our Pearl cruise, I don't see any changes with our times at least.

Budget queen.

The OP is not "gone" I just have a life that doesn't revolve around this forum. I did not "jump the gun" with my claim. The port time did change. I did not get a notice about the change from NCL and just because it is "DOABLE" to you, does not mean it is satisfactory to me. The sun sets at 7 something that means it will be dark not day. We had the intention of seeing the garden in the day time. My complaint is that NCL should notify their passengers of changes.

You are wrong- your initial post states you were leaving in 12 days- where are you getting that it is dark at 7pm? It will be to- 9pm+ of daylight. Again, time for these tours. IF you wanted to take them.
