Deployment 2017/18 - first guesses and implications

Recommended Posts

Would enjoy doing the Singapore-Shanghai (Baoshan) again but on Quantum class...but please take Xiamen off that itinerary and give us something else or an overnight in Vietnam.

Those that want Mariner back may be sad with what they've done to her...it'll take more than just clearing out the smoke.

I haven't sailed on Mariner, but based on her deck plans, the changes are huge. They would require a large dry dock to reverse.

I'd rather have Voyager back, as her changes have been for the better IMO.

Yes! Ovation is home porting in Singapore in 2017! Just confirmed by Royal Caribbean blog!

lol If you lived in Singapore, you will have noticed the sailings for Ovation has long been confirmed. They even had an Ad out in the Straits Times, promoting the Ovation.

You can have the Mariner and Voyager back, even one of the Quantum, just bring the Oasis Class here and I did be satisfied.

I sailed the Mariner and honestly, only the shops had changed. The logo store was reduce to a small space outside the casino. Comparing this to the Indy though.

Thinking about going on the Ovation when it homeports in Singapore. Prices look good and reasonable.

Yea, I was pretty slow. I only found out about it cause I was intending on booking a cruise late this year/early next year and stumbled upon it.

Well with Royal, who knows whether their itinerary will change eh? Heard from around the boards that one of the original Mariner Itinerary was pushed back to accomodate the Ovation. Good to confirm :D

I noticed you are going on a cruise in December on the Mariner, probably gonna wait until then to book? Don't think it will get sold out by then. Not sure, whether it will be better to book on board or via the roadshows they have.

Haha :) Actually that ended up to be the cruise that I was planning on booking. Due to work and my friends schedule's, we thought December was the best time for us all.

I decided to go down to their roadshow at Raffles City to book. Their Book early fare was $678SGD compared to the normal $948SGD. I thought it was a goof idea to book at the roadshow to save some $$

Ignore my above post please. I accidentally misread it.

I was originally looking at the last 2 months of this year to cruise, never intended to cruise on Ovation cause of how expensive it would be to sail on a new ship. Also I highly doubt that the itinerary will change in December because Mariner still has several sailings in late February and Mid-March.

I tried to save some $$ on the fare by booking at the recent roadshow. Turns out the price is still higher than I expected, but at least its lower than the original cruise fare. :/

what's a roadshow?

In Singapore they have these roadshows where they set up like a big booth in a foyer area (usually a busy mall) with posters, televisions and brochures to advertise RCI. Then in the middle of all that will be a booking counter where customers who are keen can enquire or book a cruise on the spot.

It's quite efficient in booking if it's convenient for you to attend one. Normally they would also be selling cruise fares at a lower price than what it states for its original sailing, and they have all sorts of promotions like kids cruise free etc...

I couldn't find my question anywhere in this thread, so I'm hoping someone could answer my question. We're planning on booking a 2018 Europe / Medit cruise for a college graduation / retirement combo. Not particularly thrilled w/ the ship options currently sailing thru 2017/ early 18. How often do they swap these ships out? Currently they have Brilliance (the route we want to take; 12 night / Med), Freedom on a port intensive route, along w/ Jewel, Navigator and Vision. I would love to see some different ships in that locale, but do they swap out those smaller ships at all in Europe (not Freedom of course)? Thanks for any help...

The next set of itineraries will likely appear around March/April 2017.

That's what I was told, I just don't know the history of the ship deployment in that area. I was wondering if Brilliance, Jewel, Vision were pretty much stationary fixtures in Europe. Thanks!

There's nothing really stationary in the RC world. Those ships can change, but are likely to be in Europe during the summer season.

As Bob said, nothing is really known until they announce the itineraries.

With that said, the itineraries that are being done by small ships in 2017 are most likely going to be done by smaller ships in 2018. For example, the cruises from Venice are usually done by a Vision Class ship (could be a different ship in the class). The 12 nighters from Barcelona are usually done by Radiance Class. The 7 nighters from Barcelona are either Freedom or Oasis Class. Please keep in mind that itineraries can change though - nothing is guaranteed.

Although there are unknowns and things can definitely change, the itinerary that each ship is paired with is pretty common.

Funny enough about a week ago we decided to do two weeks on the Harmony instead of the Rhapsody transatlantic. I think someone has put a hex on that ship!

P.S. - I just checked the Rhapsody 11/5/17 sailing in espresso (travel agent system) and it is still open for sale. Have you received some sort of notice from Royal?

I have lost track of all the Rhapsody changes for 2017.

As of this moment, the TA is still available for sale on Royal's website. However, the following cruises are showing Sold Out, suggesting possible cancellation or change:

- All the Fall Foliage cruises between the TA and the repositioning from Cape Liberty to Tampa,

- The repositioning from Cape Liberty to Tampa, and

- The first Western Caribbean cruise following this repositioning.

Do you have additional information that would suggest the TA has been cancelled?
