UBER is back in Ft Lauderdale

We had no problems getting an uber Xl at 4:30 AM at Ft Luaderdale. The driver says they are busy that time of morning with early flights. I agree it does make you a little nervous without pre booking but if you allow just a few extra minutes, you could always get a cab. Uber is just more economical especially with 4 adults.

Why on earth are you staying in Miami Lakes?

 

I can't think of a more inconvenient or worse location for flying into FLL or cruising out of the POM.

 

Any money you saved booking there will be eaten up by transportation costs.

 

Plus Miami Lakes is pretty sketchy.

Free room with my points. We will be coming into FLL, then going to Magic City Casino, then to the pier the next day? How bad is Miami Lakes? Should I change my reservation? Hotel got good reviews.

Yes, the code only works on your first ride however you can share your code.

You really don't follow any steps except for downloading the app, open it, then follow the directions. Check where the pin is on the map and if it is correct, hit set pick up location.

All you need is regular Uber. You don't need Uber XL.

 

Once you use it you'll wonder why you ever even gave it a second thought. It couldn't be easier to use and it is always cheaper than a cab (well, other than NYE).

Yeah, sorry, my driver told me this morning they can now pick up at FLL and the port. Great service to the port this morning, but we'll see on the return to the airport whether we use a cab or uber.

We used Uber on our cruise last month. We were picked up at the airport (FLL) in the "chauffeured car" area.( inside lanes) Be sure to notice what terminal you come out of to help the driver find you. The driver will usually call you. Uber drivers have a "U" sign on their windshield. They use GPS to your location.

 

After you request a pick up, the app will ask you for your destination. The driver then knows where you want to go and the directions to get there.

 

We also used Uber to take us and pick us up from Port Everglades. No problems

I do think the drivers actually prefer you enter your destination before you drop your pin. That way if you're going somewhere they would prefer not to go (for instance FLL all the way to Miami), they can pass on the fare. If they were to get the ride then cancel the fare, you could rate them poorly which they do not want. Just makes life a little easier for them.

I did use a cab when we got off the Oasis, as they were right there when we got out of the terminal, cost us $12.90 to get a van ride for 4 to the airport.

This was our Taxi experience too - 6 people with cruise luggage in a mini van. We tipped him because of all the luggage he helped with, just gave him a $20.

 

There was a line at the taxi stand but it moved fast and was well organized thanks to the two Sheriff's Deputies directing people an keeping things moving.

 

From the airport we just walked to the Taxi stand outside baggage claim and there was a whole line of them.
