Cruise Raider, YEP! I got the cruise bug and we'll be on Grand for their Dec. 30th Mexican Cruise, which makes it the fifth for this year. Also booked the coming Mar. 4th cruise to Hawaii on Grand.

I've not tried any of all the above mentioned hamburger restaurants, but I get my burger fix up on Deck 14 at the Trident Grill. I order a double cheese burger with grilled onions. But before I order my burger, I get 4 strips of bacon and sometimes guacamole and add it to my burger:D. Also the Trident Grill had fish tacos, BBQ pulled pork sandwich and the best ribs, after 6 pm.

Hi, Gimer

It's Bellebaby from the Golden sailing this year to Alaska... Wish we were joining you for a Big Burger at the Trident Grill on the Dec. 30th sailing. We'll be on the Grand for a Mexican sailing on May 1st....Wish we could see you!

Have a great sailing and Happy Holidays.

B

In case anyone is interested in the schedule, according to tomorrow's Patter, we are expected to be in Ensenada from the usual around 4:00 to 8:00.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering when you would get there. I have been watching the bridge cam. I am assuming this is in the p.m.

We cruised with you on a RT Hawaii several years ago. I remember you from the meet and greet.

Ahoy aboard the Grand,

We, the next group of passengers that will be swarming aboard "your" ship on Thursday, are wondering about your stop in Ensenada... Were you allowed to go ashore???

All information from you is MOST APPRECIATED!

Many thanks,

Vaya con Locos,

So nice to see a CD on the boards! We are sailing with you on 12/10. I hope you can make it to one or both of our Meet & Greets. The first is 12/11 and the second is 12/18, both in the One5 at 2PM. We have over 50 people signed up to attend both. The second will include a white elephant gift exchange of tacky Mexican souvenirs. Hope you can join us!

Hello back! Look forward to having you sail. I can likely join on the coming cruise, though for the holiday cruise there's loads of holiday things going on so I don't know what my daily schedule will look like for that day just yet. Safe travels to SFO tomorrow. -DC

Thank you, Wayne! Nice to know our efforts were enjoyed, and very lucky to have an incredible team to make it happen! -DC

Vaya con Locos,

Looks like you got your answer but I can tell you the crew got to go ashore as well. Our friend, from the casino, posted pictures of the crew party at one of the local establishments. We will be saying goodbye to her tomorrow as she finishes her contract and heads home to Peru for the Holidays

Ahoy, Aboard the Grand,

This will be our last night/morning to communicate... Many thanks for all your information... I/We will be posting on the 12/10 Forum for the benefit of those on the 12/20 cruise to Mexico... Hope, in spite of the malfunctions, you had a GREAT cruise!

I will be boarding on the 20th, thanks for keeping us updated on any lingering effects of the fire.

I would also love to hear your experiences with the SF cruise terminal.

Enjoy your cruise!

And as some one else stated, at this time of year the weather warmer in Ensenada than Vancouver. Plus historically Vancouver has had wind/wave issues, thus negating a safe docking

I believe what you posted and the above items, go into their thought processes.

Actually Vancouver has a huge, protected, natural harbour and has absolutely no history with wind and wave issues. I know some people have problems keeping their Vancouver's and Victorias straight in their minds but the cruise lines don't. It's Victoria that can have wind and wave problems during shoulder seasons.

BAD news first…...about 0530 the captain came on and advised the was a small fire on deck 4 near the engine room…we were losing propulsion and had limited lighting…well that certainly wakes you up!

20 minutes later he advised fire was out but we have limited propulsion and limping onwards to Hilo Hawaii, our first port since leaving SF…

GOOD news… we are about 6 miles fro Hilo…

there isn't enough power for brewing coffee and limited lighting in horizon court ….which was a zoo with limited lighting and people acting as if they were rushing to avoid a food shortage…some folks really amaze me….

the cruise has been typical princess quality and we are satisfied ….as others have said , the Grand is showing her age but is well maintained with an OUTSTANDING crew…

did i mention i could use a cup of coffee? its now 0640

Welcome to SF! Thank you for starting this discussion! I've appreciated all the updates. I'm not sure if In and Out is opened yet, but guessing you'll be in line soon. Enjoy the day today and hopefully we'll meet up on the ship.

thanks Panda64…we are sitting on board and since we are "in transit" we can get off whenever we want….i figure "In n Out" opens at 11, so after picking up some resupplies at Safeway ( another place that doesn't exist in florida by the way) we' have a big lunch and head back to the ship after the rush is over…these turn around days are ALWAYS a high point of our cruise.

there have been no announcements regarding the propulsion repairs and according to my garmin gps, the last few days has been a speed of 15-17 MPH…the disembarkation here seems to be on time from what i can tell.

For all of you coming aboard…i would rate this as a top3-5 of our 26 princess cruises….and thats missing the 3 best ports…..

one last note…the refunds and FFC's we were given were a really good business decision…i suspect the most exhausted person on the staff is the future cruise staff person who had a long and steady line each day of passengers booking future cruises with princess…we darn sure purchased more!

thanks to all for the comments.

Panda64 -- thank you so very much for all the updates ... and even looks like you brought us some decent weather for boarding. It was really coming down last night ... had me a little worried about asking my niece to take us over the bridge in those nasty driving conditions. Hope you meet you onboard ... :)

Any word on when this ship will be seaworthy again?

Well, it just sailed from Hawaii to Mexico and then to California and is, I believe, picking up another cruise that will depart today, so I'd say it's safe to assume that it's pretty seaworthy right now! At least I would think/hope so!!
