So, was the hoax bomb threat idiot a crew member or passenger?

The captain told us it was a passenger getting off the previous cruise and that he had made the comment to security on the way out. He was arrested, authorities were contacted and the search was conducted. Homeland security was involved.

I thought it was kinda stupid to blame a PAX boarding issue on the CEO and entourage. If the CEO were boarding she would have been pre-cleared and have boarded from the pier, not through the guest terminal.

Was there not a reference to a sales meeting on board which was then cancelled due to the security issue? When passengers are delayed from boarding all we can do is listen to the terminal boarding staff. We have been held up as specially badged people preceded passengers on board.

Payne was the first name of the sweet and helpful security guard at Port of Miami - posting so I can remember to commend her to the Port.

We're on board now and yes, champagne was served as always! We were on our way to Customer Service right after boarding to ask about the location of Raylene's relief box, and an officer stopped us to say "I read on Cruise Critic that your dog was stepped on, is she OK? We are so sorry that happened!" Wow, very nice. We assured him her tail still wags. He advised us to head for our room to get an orientation for the dog box, which we did.

The Sky Suite is beautiful and the butler Keegan was at the door instantly, and escorted us to the box location (a good, covered area with shelter against potential rain. Much better than in the past.) He provided lots of information, quickly made a reservation for our free specialty dinner, and came back to confirm. While we were on the balcony, our room steward Michael arrived with a warm welcome and noted a few little requests.

We're off to a wonderful start, and I mean that sincerely. Hope there won't be too many grumbles for something Celebrity could not control.

We don't know yet how late our departure will be, muster drill hasn't happened yet. Think of the mess that little "prank" cost. Luggage coming aboard now.

I am so sorry the poor folks had their party cancelled, too. I worked in event planning and feel for the organizers.

Hi Chris - I just found this thread - I do hope you and Raylene are having a great cruise and that she has no more tail mishaps!

Hi, Keith! We are all having a great time. She's not real crazy about the sawdust wood shavings in her relief box (she refused to use it at one point for 15 straight hours!) but everyone has been wonderful.

(For the most part - one woman boarding saw her and said, according to my husband, "Oh, great, a dog - this is the cruise from Hell." Hopefully the woman got over her boarding day aggravation and now is having a fun time.)

We were late arriving into San Juan by a half hour (4:30 pm), so it was getting dark but Raylene was happy when I found grass at the port for her use. Then we went to a lovely outdoor cafe (Toro de Saleo) near the ship in Old San Juan. Lots of colonial Spanish atmosphere, and the friendly owner immediately brought a big bowl of water for Raylene.

Today we took her up to St Thomas' Paradise Point on the tramway and she was a trouper jumping on and off the moving tram car. Gorgeous sunny day here, and hot! Glad we set out early because there was a long line when we were leaving.

Tomorrow St. Maarten!

Glad you are having a great cruise after the mishaps the first day...you are a better person than me if you managed to withhold a blistering comeback to that lady(?) the first day.

Are you taking Raylene to the beach in St Maarten?

Hi Chris, Hubby and beautiful Raylene!

Oh my I just read this thread - what a start to your cruise, it's usually Aunty Roz who has these "adventures"!!! LOL! But I'm delighted you are having a lovely time now.

Your hubby is very gracious in ignoring obnoxious people, what a stupid thing for that woman to say - as for "tail-gate", I do hope poor Raylene has no more fat blokes standing on her tail, or anyone else for that matter. Ouch!

I must say I'm very impressed with the officer chap coming to see you after reading this thread! And I imagine he got a happy waggy tail from Raylene.

Keep having fun! :D

Truly a good thing about being deaf is I usually miss the mean dog-related comments, but my husband tells me later!

We'll play it by ear in St. Maarten. Have to say the weather in the Eastern Caribbean has been great on this cruise. Same region last year and it poured rain or drizzled for the first half of the cruise.

Thanks! This is one of the nicest cruises we've ever taken. Reflection is so big and very lively - always something going on.:)

Glad everything seemed to be going well for CaribbeanChris and their pup. Couldn't the delay and arrest be related to the other poster's thread about the major theft onboard? Was that the end of that cruise the beginning of this one? Maybe I mixed them up but I think so?

Happy sailing,

Jenna

Saw "employee" in handcuffs being taken away. He was in shorts with a maroon top and looked very middle eastern with full beard. Very strange an employee would be dressed as such at 1 PM on turn around day. And another employee saying they had found a stowaway prior to the 'official" announcement. Enough bomb dogs were there to indicate someone threatened a bomb though.

My wife and I along with many others were stopped on the upper balcony leading into the ship when all was stopped.

no no, its all been blown out of all proportion (no pun) and grossly misunderstood.

He was trying to say "dis ship is da bomb!" as in "I had a great time despite what everyone on cruise critic said".

Thank you for the much needed humour

Huh? When? Was this on the same cruise as the OP's post?

Jenna; I looked up the "theft ring" thread, and she (SWANK) posted her follow-up on the 14th. She states that she was on the 11/28 Reflection cruise. That would have her leaving the Reflection on the 5th of December.

Jerseygirl started the "Police and Homeland Security....." thread on the 12th, so, no, I do not think they are related unless an additional person was identified and thus arrested.

Well security up here states that this is her 4th contract with celebrity and this is her first time seeing this. Im sorry but i highly doubt its "procedural"

I have to agree... border patrol & customs would be normal procedure...real cops just don't do that sort of thing. Not in their job description.

Thanks. Internet onboard was slow, as usual and I didn't have time to figure it out.

Happy sailing,

So, this idiot cost the ship at least $77k ($50 credit x 1,532 cabins). I hope they sue him to teach him a lesson.

I think that was REALLY generous of Celebrity to offer the $50 per cabin OBC. The delay was not due to anything they did. Making the ship secure is in everyone's best interest.

Something we will never be short of in this world is stupidity. This guy takes the cake.

Yes, the $50 credit was extremely generous in our opinion. The announcement was made during the safety drill, and I think many were surprised, shrugged off the boarding hassles, and jumped right into having a good vacation.

It was one of the liveliest cruises I've ever been on, the crew was great, and the service was outstanding. People seemed to be having a great time everywhere we went, and I've never seen more visible, involved officers.
