I fully agree with you. Frankly never saw either one. And their scheduling is the worst I have experienced in 23 Princess cruises.

Ruth-Ann ... Just said "Hi" to you on 1/14/2017 Caribbean Princess Roll Call.

This January we are on Emerald for 19 days ... beginning 1/18.

Hoping all the issues you and others experienced on your recent Emerald will be resolved by then.

Hello All,

We are set to go Feb 6th on this ship. I am see a lot of bad reviews with water and A/C. Should we cancel this trip based on your experiences since the dry dock? Many Thanks

Bill

They were working hard on the problems and I am pretty convinced it will be all fixed way before you board. But these ships aren't getting any younger and plumbing and A.C. problems are common and often worse than on this ship.

We were on this ship 2 years ago and had a major problem with the AC on the Emerald deck in 2 cabins. We were told at the time that there was no fix for it.

I'll bet that the cabins still have the same problems today.

I have to say we were on the Star two years ago and disappointment is an understatement. We are going to be on the Emerald this January hoping our last voyage was just a fluke. Hope these people were compensated in some way. Thought we would give Princess one more try. PS...ditch the cruise director Princess!!!! I have heard too many negative comments!

I would not cancel.

Thanks. We are seasoned cruisers and usually read comments and see where people are often very picky, however this ship seems to have an above amount of negative feedback. Is there any way to know if these problems will be fixed before we cruise, or who to call to find out?

If you read the latest posts from people that just got off it's a little scary.

Thanks for the replies.

Hi Bill, my DH are considering booking this same cruise but are also hesitant based on feedback. We always take reviews with a grain of salt and factor in the "everthing is subjective" quotient, but like you concerned about the replies from seasoned cruisers that have mentioned some fairly consistent issues. I'm particularly interested to know who the DC is and if that person will still be on in Feb. May have to call Princess to find out. I do think that along with the Captain, the CD greatly influences the overall cruise experience.

Thanks

Initially we were assigned to cabin E327 & had just about no cooling. After numerous complaints to the cabin steward, Passenger services, Hotel manager & many trips to our cabin by the maintenance staff we were finally told that the duct work for the engine room passes by that cabin & it's heating effect can't be overcome by their AC system.

Soooooo, they switched us to cabin E330 in an attempt to provide a cabin with sufficient cooling BUT it's a mirror cabin on the other side of the ship with the same duct problem. It's no wonder they hold these cabins for guarantee and only use them as a last resort.

It's possible that they're now fixed & everything is fine but once burned.....

btw- we finally were assigned to cabin E718 and it was a cabin with normal AC.

The distribution systems on the older style ships leave a lot of room for improvement compared to the Regal & Royal which have their own individual AC for each room & can usually handle such conditions.

We were in Dolphin, 733. Awesome cabin, too bad we had so many problems.. Had the best time in the casino.. Olga and Brad were great with everyone!

OMG, we have that cabin booked for the December 27th sailing! I hope the issues have been resolved by then

We were in Aloha 429 and had a great working toilet (this is what we've come to in our reviews ) and plenty of hot and cold water. Cabin's AC not working up to par, but in light of some of the other issues this was a minor inconvenience. I've got a friend who says that as long as we're breathing everything else can be handled. What I did see was great service and a very positive attitude among the crew! I cannot fathom how the people behind the guest services desk were handling things so calmly having to deal with all the complaints. I have to disagree with the poster about the food in the dining room being just average. We were a group of 6 who have cruised many times. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and DeeDay and Amari were EXCELLENT!! We were able to enjoy our meal and then attend the 8:30 shows, which were quite good. The "Happy Hour" special in the Wheelhouse was really nice! You buy one of the cocktails for full price and the 2nd one (had to be the same drink) was only $1.00. I highly recommend the Dirty Banana and the Bahama Mama!! I am indeed sorry to hear that the 2nd medical emergency did not make it. The Captain informed us that the first individual was in the hospital in Ft Lauderdale and receiving medical care. I was impressed with the efforts that the Captain and crew made to get this person emergency medical care and get to the Bahamas to be evacced off the ship. I understand that 9 people volunteered to give blood which had been requested. We are looking forward to the next cruise! :)

Wow, We are in cabins 731 and sister is in cabin 729. Are these the cabins with the cooling problems???

I don't think it was any specific cabins with the AC problems. It was more of a trying to get some AC to all of the cabins. Keeping the balcony drapes pulled during the day helped some and it cooled off in the evening. The "common" areas were very comfortable, so unless you were in your cabin you were fine. We're from the South, so being warm isn't all that unusual for us....;)

The poor Emerald has become the whipping boy (girl?) of the month, looks like. Wasn't it the Caribbean last month? Or was it the Star? I get lost. :)

Hmmm... I have this cabin on 1/14. Do you have a review or pics of the cabin? What problems did you encounter?
