Just off the Oasis - Eastern - 4/2 Sailing- Cruising with kids

Recommended Posts

Kudos for the review (helpful to me as we're doing Oasis in Sept with our. 7 yr old DGD), but more importantly, kudos to you & your family. You sound like a wonderful, caring, loving group who have a way of looking at the bright side of everything. Glad you had a great time -thanks again!

PS:shhh! Don't tell everyone about the Wipe Out Cafe & the Park Cafe - I don't want them to get too crowded by September!

OH my... thanks so much for the kind words! We try to always see the glass as half full. :) You will have a blast with your granddaughter!

Oh no, the secret is out! haaaaa! Well... just make sure to have a roast beef sandwich for me as well as a yummy omelet at Wipe Out! They had the best hashbrowns too. :)

I'll update that in 3 weeks. I might also try the Crown Plaza next time.

We had the cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza and every time we ate it, it was hot and fresh. Numnumnum.

Crown Plaza was awesome. We were on the 10th floor and had a straight on view of the Miami skyline. To the right we could see planes taking off and to the left was the port. If you turn right out of the hotel and then immediately do a "u-ey," then the port is straight ahead just after the traffic light. Go through the guard shack and take a right once the street dead-ends. Terminal 18/Parking will be just a smidge down on the left.

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you for your review.

We are booked on Oasis in October for an Eastern itinerary. It will be my 4th cruise and my wife's first I was nervous about the size, but with our schedules, this was the ideal cruise for us. It was either the Oasis or NCL Escape. Having sailed RCI before, I leaned toward RCI.

Your cruise sounds great. We did a similar cruise on Allure. Hit the same ports as you. Sounds like you had great private tours in St Thomas and St Maarten.

I agree with you about the crowds. The ships are huge but they handle it well.

I agree with you on the food, pools, large beds and service. Royal knows how to do things.

Thanks for the report.

Hi everyone,

The second was Sabor. We were horribly disappointed. What Mexican place doesn't have good ole cheese dip? And the chips were terrible. The table side guac was good, but other than that, not worth your money if you are used to eating good Mexican at home.

They're striving with Sabor to be a little more authentic and high-end, verses Rita's Cantina which was much "Americanized." Having eaten at Sabor maybe 8 different times on various cruises, the fresh guac and quesadillas nearly beat anything I've had on land.

Interesting! I thought the local Mexican dives that I frequent at home were authentic. Maybe they ARE Americanized. :) I was just shocked to have no cheese. We liked the guac, but I didn't care for the quesadillas. The quesadillas tasted like really bad panini's that you get a gas station.

I think as a whole (at least our impression), Sabor was more for drinking and chips & guac than a sit down eatery.

I tell you what we loved. We loved Park Cafe. We ate there nearly every day for lunch except when we were in the ports. I didn't get a thing that I didn't like.

Question, and I'll probably duh myself when I get the answer. What's an interactive elevator. Didn't notice two years ago when we sailed on Oasis.

Not the elevator itself, they said the elevator area - and are likely referring to the interactive touch screens at each bank of elevators with the Dailey planned, restaurant lists with approx capacity at that time, maps of where you are to where you're going - seeing as they mentioned it in relation to being able to avoid the casino due to the maps shows in the elevator areas.
