BrandonN Posted April 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I am considering taking a cruise in November. It will just be a 5 day out of Galveston down the Cozumel and Progresso. Every cruise that I have been on has either been in March or April. What's the weather typically like in November? Any feedback I could get would be greatly appreciated and will help me make up my mind on when to cruise again.
loubetti Posted April 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2016 Weather is always unpredictable, but November should be hot and otherwise very nice. No hurricane season then either.

Well not sure about November but we took a cruise first week in December last year and it was perfect weather. I was surprised at how warm the water was everywhere and temperatures were great. Of course days are shorter that time of the year, so less daylight but still worked out well. The only thing we had to consider was flying from NC where our temps. were in the 40's and going to Florida where temps. were in the 80's. You have to do some creative dressing for the changeover, lol. We just returned from a cruise last week mid April and was surprised how much cooler the water temps. were compared to our December cruise. BallFour4 Posted April 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) Brandon, After cruising that run about two dozen times here's what you can expect. It will be windy on sail away. The north wind along coastal waters means waves. Expect a little ship movement the first night and temps ranging from mid 50's to near 80. By midday the first sea day it will most likely be close to 80. Ships makes that run at a fast pace, so whatever weather systems you sail in expect to clear in in a few hours. We've had rain and cool in the morning and warm sunny afternoons. Cozumel will be mid 60's to low 80's, or near perfect. Water temps will have dropped to 80 or less, so swimming is a little cool. The sea day coming back will be the most windy. Any wind speed from northern winds will be exacerbated by speed of the ship. More than one hat has gone over the rail on the jogging track. Expect seas to be the most rough this afternoon an overnight. Long answer, but it does have the detail you asked for. . sandkps Posted April 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2016 We did a 7 day out of Charleston end of Nov/first of Dec last year. Weather was great. A little cool the evening of the first night, but we all wore the jeans we boarded with and were fine. The pools/water slides on board were too cool for my tastes, but my kids said they were fine once you got used to it. Weather in the Caribbean was wonderful. Plenty warm for me & my family in the ocean at Half Moon Cay! We did have some really rough seas 2 nights. This was our first cruise at that time of year so I'm not sure if it's typical for the time or not. Overall though, I would definitely cruise again during that time! Matter of fact, we're looking into booking one for that time frame this year once we get back from our upcoming May cruise (hoping for a sweet casino offer! :p )

erby2283 Posted April 29, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I usually always cruise in the fall. It may be a little chilly the first and last days but definitely still warm where you're going!
Schoifmom Posted April 29, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 29, 2016 We cruised the first week of December last year and it was fantastic weather! You can count on no snow ;)

Sorry, hurricane season ends at the end of October. Of course, things can change, but never forget this: June - Too Soon (first month) July - Standby (for any news of a storm) August - You must (prepare in case a storm comes) September - Remember (to standby) October - It's all over (last month) The month of November is NOT considered to be hurricane season, but it keeps getting repeated here as though it is. cruiseonthebrain Posted April 29, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 29, 2016 I would recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket for evenings on the balcony or outside decks- learned the hard way.

tidecat Posted April 29, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 29, 2016 It may not be true everywhere, but for most of the Gulf Coast, hurricanes have been recorded in every month but February. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bakersdozen12 Posted April 29, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 29, 2016 We sailed out of New Orleans from 10/25-11/1 last year. The weather in NOLA sucked the day we sailed away (pouring rain) and the day we returned (more rain), but the weather in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel was fantastic. Still pretty hot. This is incorrect (outdated) information. Hurricane season ends Nov 30th. Sorry loubetti, I love your posts and 99.99% of time time, agree with you completely. This time however, you are wrong. Just do a quick Google search (which I just did, like I said, you're usually right but I was pretty sure as I've heard this information many times from many different sources) for "caribbean hurricane season". You'll see that the official hurricane season in the Caribbean is June 1st to November 30th. Now, it's a lot less likely to get a storm/hurricane in November but technically, it's still hurricane season.
lylone Posted April 30, 2016 #20 Share Posted April 30, 2016 We did a cruise the week before Thanksgiving last year out of Miami to the Eastern Caribbean. Will never again as it rained everyday. The one day it was sunny it was so windy that you couldn't lay on deck. There was a tropical system that parked itself south of Miami the whole week. We hoped as we moved South it would get better but it didn't. Blah!
Catrin Posted April 30, 2016 #21 Share Posted April 30, 2016 We cruised twice the week after Thanksgiving. Those two cruises had the best weather. Bright sunny days, warm nights. The one thing that was different, however, is the sun sets a lot earlier that time of year. Catrin
