T-Minus 1 Hour Until Next "Sale"

Recommended Posts

I did a mock booking on Royal to see if my cruise went down. It applied the 60% off and for my kids room 60% plus 30% because they are 3. When I called to get the discount, I was told the 60% off was a Military discount only. ??????

That does not make sense to me.

When it doesn't seem right, call back to talk to someone else. Check your booking both while logged in and not into your C&A account.

Last July, when bookings first opened for Harmony, I booked a Central Park Balcony for February 2017 at $1,598, with no BOGO or OBC. I don't even bother to recheck that one. It will never be cheaper.

My savings are limited, but I am 77 and have developed spinal stenosis that may require surgery, so I decided that I might as well start spending what I can manage, on things I will really enjoy. I have sailed four times on the Oasis, and previously thought that I would rather take two 7-day cruises instead of one b2b for a total of 14 days. However, using the rationale that I would have until November 2017 to cancel one or both weeks of a February 2018 b2b, I went ahead two months ago and booked another Central Park Balcony on Harmony.

For 2/3-10/2018 it was $2,375, and for 2/10-17/2018 it was $2,616. There was no BOGO and no OBC, but the real "deal" was getting the deck (10) and location (near aft elevators) that we wanted, AND the same cabin for both weeks! Sure we'll have to disembark and reboard at Port Everglades, but we can leave all our stuff in the cabin! I checked the current sale, and each week costs exactly $1.00 more than when I booked in March.

My traveling companion is my 51-yr-old, self-employed daughter. She has been able to take the time away for our two previous Oasis cruises, and we hope that will work out for the next two. The only extra cost to me is her air fare, which has been about $200 round trip. We travel well together, and I love knowing she'll be there if I need any assistance.

I am really looking forward to two weeks on Harmony in 2018, and wish I had considered it when I could have booked a b2b for about $3,000 total for two weeks in 2017. Ah well. I have lived frugally my whole life, and am not a spend thrift even now. I'll never be able to cruise numerous times a year, but I thoroughly enjoyed the 4 cruises I've taken on the Oasis.

(Two were in connecting cabins with my older daughter, son-in-law and grandson, but family dynamics have changed for the next few years with college and job situations and health issues.). Looks like it will be me and younger daughter enjoying the Harmony together - and I'll keep watching the "sales" for that 2018 cruise. You never know what might magically change.

So I called back this morning , after being told last night that the only 60% off sale available was for military. I spoke to a very nice gentleman ( too tired still to remember his name). I managed to save $171 on my d7 balcony and $139 on my d3 balcony for our July Anthem cruise. I went ahead and applied the credit to add pre paid gratuities--which ended up costing me $27.50 after the credit. I am happy with all of this.

Pretty ticked off right now. My TA tried to get the price drop and the system wouldn't allow it. Now she has to call them directly and who knows what BS they'll tell her over the phone. This happens EVERY time I want a price drop or cabin change. Usually customer service takes care of what I want but acts like it's breaking the rules and they only do it as a courtesy to my top selling TA.

Why can't I get the same price drop all of you managed to get without any problem?

SO tired of games.

Just called C&A and saved $1,000 on my 2017 - 2018 bookings. Had no problems doing it. I would recommend everyone check all bookings for 2017-2018. I book a lot all at one time while onboard ship for reduced deposit and so I'm all set until the next set of bookings open next year.

Mine is a Jan '17 cruise. I'm thinking these cruises that are a long way out are befitting greatly from this sale. Though some big savings for cruises this summer. I'm glad this has helped the large majority of us!

Ok, So I'm new to cruising...last one I was on was 17 years ago when I was 17 lol. How does the fare difference work? Looks like 3 of the 4 rooms would end up with a pretty high discount but we booked through a travel agent. Do I need to go back through them or call RCI directly?

Thanks!

Saved $190 in a JS on one of the Grandeur 5-night bermuda sailings next June (June 10, 2017).

We booked on opening day, so were really happy to see a price drop in our favor. It will be our first time in a corner aft, so we're already pretty psyched, even though the itinerary is not that great (less than 24 hours in bermuda). More time to spend on our balcony! :D

We managed to book our Harmony cruises in early June 2015 when the prices were crazy low, so we'll never see drops on those. I figure it all evens out, as we way overpaid for our last couple of cruises. But we went on them anyway, and had a darn good time. :p

Spoke to CA, and got the adj. of $130 on my Harmony Sept 2017 sailing, but I am not really happy.

For cabin 12329 for the sailing

2 people = $2030.92

1 person= $2097.92

Your right that is $67.00 additional money past the 200%, so that makes what % more? When I said we were paying 215% it is actually higher.

CA made up every excuse possible to justify the extra.

Oh yeah I also figured they were jacking the rate anywhere from 47 to 50% before the 60% drop. The CA discount gets taken off before the 60%. AWESOME SALE BABY!

Anyone going to try the new NCL ship or Vista?

As my sig says, my honeymoon will be on the Allure in January. I saved almost $400 with the new sale in my CLS. Out of curiosity I checked out the GS prices...My jaw hit the floor, they dropped over $800. I jumped on one and now have about $1200 in my cruise spending pocket that I was going to spend on a CLS. Originally the difference to upgrade to a CLS made it a no-brainer. But with this pricing, I still get the suite perks, but now my fiancee and I can both get alcohol packages, massages, swim with the dolphins in Cozumel, and basically whatever else we feel like doing!

I would've loved the CLS, but sheesh!!! For the price savings I think we will have a much better vacation overall. Plus it will be a full ocean view rather than a Sports court view (which I didn't mind) but I will enjoy the privacy on the balcony.

Best thing, too, is we are on deck 8 so the proximity to central park will be great. Furthermore, we are on the starboard side, which I have heard is great for the western route!

Since I got such a good deal on my Feb. 2017 CP balcony when I booked it last year, I called my TA this morning to book another CP balcony for the following week. If I wind up shortening our 2018 cruise to only one week, I will save at least $700 and get to take our b2b a year earlier. (And if I have the money in November 2017, I could talk myself into keeping the Feb. 2018 b2b. I'm starting to see how people get addicted to adding more and more cruises, and upgrading to "nicer" and nicer cabins. I've been very happy in a standard balcony, so I don't think I'll be tempted to upgrade).

What would have made it even better is if the same cabin had been available for the second week next February. However, the new one is also on deck 10 near the aft elevators, on the other side of Central Park. I've been told that the room stewards will move our stuff to the second cabin, so we will have to do some packing, but can leave the hanging clothes in the closet. There is still a chance that we might wind up with the "matching" cabin for both weeks. If the person who has it reserved now gives it up, we are wait listed for it.

When I booked the 2018 b2b, I didn't know in advance that it would be booked as two separate cruises. I'm happy to get in on the CP balcony special perks for both weeks - complimentary lunch for 2 at one of the specialty restaurants (can't remember which one), plus a bottle of wine. They also offer some kind of class in the casino, but we will skip that. These perks will be available for sure in Feb. 2017, but who knows if that offer will still be good in 2018. (Okay, I think I have thoroughly convinced myself that the 2017 b2b is a really GREAT idea.)

Crazy as it seemed, I just checked tonight's price, and saw the "instant savings". By checking on an available CP balcony, the price is $70 lower than what I booked this morning. I hope it will still be there when my TA opens in about 5 hours.

Congrats on the deal!. I called this morning to check on that deal. Turns out mine would be a $50 saving per cabin, but would void the C&A discount which was a better discount ( $96 for our room and $101 on the kids room)

Reading your post, it occurred to me that I hadn't asked my TA about a C&A discount. A different agent took my call this morning and just reported back. The "instant savings" would have been $70, the C&A discount would have been $100 - BUT - she had an available GROUP RATE that saved me $241! I am definitely a happy camper today! :) :) :)

I believe you can get the C&A balcony discount with the group rate.
