Children in the Diamond Lounge?

Recommended Posts

Noone is denying the validity of children being human...sometimes, cute little human beings. But there is a place for them and a place where they don't belong. This thread actually has nothing to do with children, but with parents who want to do everything and don't want to be excluded. I don't believe that children belong in Lounges...especially if there are other places they can be where their parents can also get a drink.

Very sensible and agreeable post.

Oh, I see. If the line has not officially welcomed children in the DL during cocktail hour, my opinion is for the parents to go elsewhere for their free drinks. Is is too much to ask for an adult environment when the line promises the adults that? As others have said before me, Adventure Ocean is an adult free zone. Whey can't the adults have their space too? It's only for a couple of hours a day. Keep the kiddies out.

The line has officially welcomed kiddies. See my post with Diamond benefits. This was changed over a year ago.

There are adult only venues. You just don't want to use them.

I'll let Royal know open the kids club at 5pm

What you are missing is the DL is a loyalty lounge for passengers in appreciation of their loyalty and not a bar everyone can come into.

If you scream at each other maybe i have overestimated your parenting skills.

My parents only had to threaten us with getting wrong when we got home and we turned obediant straight away.

At school you would get hit with the cane on your hand if you were naughty,i had it once and never again.

Teach respect and they will learn respect.

He hits us. Its the windmilling. Very dangerous. 8 minutes of screaming is his limit usually.

Probably the best response, Rcl recognized 1 year ago officially that there customers children have more stake in the future of the industry so if we teach them at a young age to respect such venues ( such as a valued guest lounge)it will spread and teach respect for the crew and ship. That's what I read there.

Not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China. The person I replied to asked if there was an RCI policy admitting minors into the lounge. There is. I posted the link yesterday and referred him or her back to it.

The windmilling is one thing, getting lighters and cigarettes was much more difficult. We don't even smoke and he doesn't have money, so we aren't sure of his source for such things.

Our tea is made in North East England from tea imported from Sri Lanka.

The point is RC make rules that are not implemented so just like the Maitred might not stop people going into the restaurant with shorts and vest tops when they are not allowed, the Diamond Lounge Concierge doesn't have to allow children in if the members don't agree.

It's right on the Royal website. At least a year. Check out diamond benefits.

Thanks Maxwell.

I copied the below in italics right from the Diamond perks information. No where does it say that kids are not welcome at any time of day. They must be accompanied at all times is the only rule regarding kids. My son is Diamond by his actual sailings and is a frequent cruiser sailing at least 2 times a year if not 3. In fact he is almost D+ by his actual sailings. He has another 11 years until he can go into the lounge on his own, but he can go in with us if we choose to attend. It really doesn't matter what people wish for and desire, it is the rules established by RC.

Diamond Lounge is an exclusive benefit for only Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members and cannot be extended to include friends and family. Complimentary specialty coffees are only available in the dining room on days when breakfast is being served. On ships where a Diamond Lounge is available there will be no Nightly Special Diamond Event or complimentary Specialty coffees available in the dining room. The Diamond Lounge is designated as a smoke-free area. We respectfully request that guests observe a Smart Casual dress code when visiting the Lounge (no swim or pool attire is allowed, footwear is required at all times). Guests 21 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Guests and friends of Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members are not allowed into the Diamond Lounge due to limited space.

Now you are just making stuff up. They aren't going to vote every night to see if kids are allowed in. The rules are stated by RC, see my post above.

That'd be a fun conversation to have with the concierge.

To repeat again.

We have seen 1 child in the DL in 110 days going into the DL so it has never ever been an issue for us.

Anybody regardless of age, colour, race or religion has my respect and i would happily socialise with them if they are nice people.

I would love to use a venue that is adults only. Where are these venues besides the spa? I will go willingly to enjoy my cocktail during the cocktail hour. Thank you.

I do understand the DL is a loyalty lounge and I appreciate the line offering this venue to Diamond and above members. What I have come to find out by reading this thread is Royal has officially invited well behaved children to the DL during cocktail hour. I've lost that battle so I guess I don't have any more comments regarding this subject.

They are going to be so disappointed when there are no DL's when they grow up.

At least they'll have vouchers. ;)
