Bread Pudding

It's been awhile since I've sailed on HAL, I was just wondering if they still offered bread pudding with vanilla sauce in the afternoon in the buffet area?

Yes, depending on which ship will determine the location of the bread pudding. Always available at lunch. You may have to search for it or just ask a buffet attendant. I also love it! I admit to having it as my total lunch, forget the salad stuff!

Just off the Noordam a couple of weeks ago and they definitely had the bread pudding most days.

 

First time trying it and ended up being my favorite of all the deserts. Served in the area they served ice cream.

I agree it's very good. On a cool day it's nice way to warm up. As said it's good as dessert or lunch.

If you don't see it handy -- ask the person in charge of the ice cream station -- sometimes it is on a counter behind him.

The sauce has been very watery the last couple of times I tried it.

Plenty of bread pudding available on the Koningsdam ... Spotted at the bread section, along with a daily pie of various descriptions ... Ridiculously sweet sticky joyfulness :p

Thanks OP for asking! I LOVED the Bread Pudding when we were on the Zandam several years ago and Saturday we board the Neiuw Amsterdam. Hubby does NOT understand my enthusiasm for Bread Pudding. But I will hunt it down! :D

I would take any ships bread pudding over what they call cake. I love cake but not on any ships as of yet. The frosting is always whipped....YUCK! What happened to good old fashioned buttercream!? The bread pudding is always good with the vanilla sauce as a substitute:p

A little rum or bourbon on that white sauce too is outstanding. Years ago my Mother would put with bourbon or rum in her white sauce.

If you ever happen to stray from HAL and sail on Princess, they offer an excellent chocolate layer cake with chocolate buttercream frosting on their room service menu. I have never seen it elsewhere on their ships, just via room service.

 

I have not sailed on HAL in a number of years, and am a purist when it comes to bread pudding. I don't care for the flavored varieties. Do they serve the original "plain" bread pudding as well on the days when flavored ones are offered, or does that vary by ship?
