Scored with the upgrade advantage bid process

I've been lurking on here since booking my cruise but just had an offer accepted so I thought I'd register. Sailing on the Getaway on 11/27 and was upgraded from BX to H7 (forward-facing penthouse) for $575pp. That was the lowest bid that moved the meter from "poor" to "fair".

Awesome job. Wish now I would have bid a little lower but did not want to chance it! Congrats!

I upped my bid $100/pp more which equals only $100/pp less that listed price to move from Aft PH to 2BR Haven. The cabins disappear when I do a fake booking....then reappear the next time I do a fake booking. 5 days out and still suites available for the taking.....but no letter. I am very happy where I am but would love to move up to a suite closer to the Haven itself!

If you are bidding only $100 less than listed, why not just pay listed amount and receive all the perks?

I can't even bid due to agency I booked with. Reading about peeps who bid up to better cabins than I am paying full price for, for far less. Doesn't seem fair some didn't even get the chance, but it is what it is. Sigh.

How much would you bid for a balcony cabin when you have a studio cabin?

What ship and date - are the studios sold out? At one time there were quite a few reports of studios getting free upgrades to balcony but haven't seen one lately.

This bid business is unfortuante. I have 3 side by side spa mini suites (bringing my parent's and in laws with us) all of which I am paying for. If I bid and only 1 or 2 of the cabins get's upgraded then we sort of leave someone behind. At least with upsell I had some control i.e., telling the agent it is all 3 or nothing. Here I am faced with a dilemma where I am willing to pay but don't want to leave anyone behind.

P.S we leave this Saturday November 26 on Escape.

This is my problem too. 3 side-by-side cabins and if one goes, we all want to go. So instead we'll just stay put.

As it is, we moved from a Balcony to a Mini-Suite at no cost because of a price drop, so we'll just be happy as is and leave those Haven dreams for another cruise ;)

That is exactly why I'm not paying the full price for a 2BR! I've paid full-price for the aft PH...and would like a teeny-tiny discount for a change!

Rethought my bidding and backed them all down next to minimum. Figured why play into NCL money grab. If I land an upgrade with low bid great if not I will enjoy my mini suite and have extra cash for casino and excursions!

Exactly! I went in and cancelled some categories and left a minimum bid for another. I'll be perfectly happy with my current cabin....or perhaps score a low bid.

I just got upgraded today. Went from an inside to a Spa balcony. I'm very happy with my upgrade and would do it again if I had the choice. $200 was my bid which I upped on Thursday. Sailing on the Getaway Dec 4th

We're on the Jan 2nd Getaway cruise. We haven't received an upgrade offer yet. Anyone else on the cruise receive one? BTW, our TA has opted into this bidding process.

Yes, we did, from an aft inside deck 11 to a balcony deck 9, so am pleased. Good luck, did you call ncl yet, scoobs?

Best Answer!! It will be well worth it.

They already have all the perks, they have an AFT PH booked. IMO, depending on which AFT you have the 2BR is a downgrade for sure. Cabin made for 6, balcony barely made for 2.

Hi Diane,

I called NCL a few weeks ago and they said the upgrade offers were totally random and I may or may not receive one. We're okay with our aft balcony, but thought it would be interesting to try for a haven!

Hi Scoobs,

Friend is sailing Jan 28 escape and hadn't received upgrade offer. I read on here that somebody from her sailing had received one. She called the next day and the offer was immediately emailed to her. Within 5 minutes of getting off the phone with NCL it was in her inbox.

If you want to take a shot at the Haven - call again.

Good luck!!!

Hi Scott, I would like to take a cabin crawl on the Getaway as I find it interesting to see the different cabin layouts, location on the ship & the view be it a ocean view or balcony or the size of an inside cabin. Cheers!

Not sure I'll call again. I hate chasing a company to "give" them more money :)
