Oasis new routes

Recommended Posts

Hoping someone posts a review of Oasis about her new home port and the Eastern Caribbean routes (ST, SM, Nassau). Menus, beds, all the usual things people are complaining about, has anything changed or improved? Thanks to anyone that does! :)

Won't be on until January, but there are actually two different alternating eastern routes

for Oasis out of PC. The standard and usual St. Martin, St. Thomas, and Nassau

(Oasis can't do Coco Cay as Freedom did, so they will go to Nassau instead).

The other route is San Juan, St. Martin, and Labadee...odd route...but that's what

they are doing. (Total $$$ control in Labadee ;)).

What is so odd about San Juan, St. Maarten, and Labadee?

I also think it sounds great. We like Labadee for the beach day. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the 3:00 pm departure from San Juan.

By the way, all of the Oasis class ships are sailing this route, not just Oasis.

This sounds like a great route! :D

I would much prefer the route for SJ, SM and Labadee. At least you can enjoy the beach at Labadee in the time they are there. The times for port in Nassau are too short to enjoy much of anything. Nassau is one of my least favorite ports. I am not a huge fan of Labadee, but at least you get a good beach day out of it. San Juan is fun too. Any time I can avoid Nassau, I do my best.

I accidentally put ST instead of SJ.

On the Oasis this past week. RCCL rolled out new menu about two weeks ago. HORRIBLE. I thought it was just me, but most of the ship was complaining. Lots of folks with the "casino players club" were also unhappy. Wish they had the old menu back!

We haven't been to Labadee yet, but would love to see it. Nassau didn't impress us very much.

QUOTE=matj2000;51511511]It is probably almost exactly the same.

Considering it was just moved 3 days ago.

I doubt they have changed menus and got new beds just because they changed home port....

Love this!

Well, EXCUSE ME for just asking..... you never know what may change. Sorry I have a job, and can't live on here to constantly read every little thing. You know, you don't HAVE to comment if you have nothing to contribute.

Going out of their way to get to Labadee, which is usually on a western itinerary. More

fuel, etc. required than going to Nassau or St. Thomas.

No, it is not out of the way and it probably is less fuel. Do you ever look at a map?

It's odd because it's not a route Royal has historically done. ;)

Labadee isn't really out of the way since it is on the north coast of Haiti.

I wonder if you'll see more ships doubling up there in the future.

In my opinion the strange part of the move was swapping San Juan for St Thomas

Maybe in the future they will do a 4 port Eastern and add St Thomas back or maybe Nassau. I'm sure a lot of these port choices are both political and economic. Pay me to park my ship in town, build me a new pier, etc..

Don't let him get to you. If you do a search on his posts, you will find he attacks

everyone and usually has nothing positive to say. ;)

I thought your question was very understandable and positive. I look forward to

getting to know Oasis again now that it is in our own home port. :) Though I still,

and will always miss the Freedom. :( Enjoy your cruise!! :D

Sure..let me see....draw a line from Port Canaveral to St. Martin/San Juan

and back to PC. The ship usually goes north through the islands of the Bahamas

and north of the Turks.

Let me know what you see. ;) Also you may want to look at an actual nautical

chart showing shoals and shallows.

As John mention, yes...it's an unusual route, especially since the ship already DOES Labadee

on it's western route.

Not really. It's a reversed route that starts with two days at sea, then does the three islands on consecutive days, and then does a sea day back to PC. San Juan is the middle stop, and you can see Puerto Rico from the Dominican side of Hispaniola.
