Hi guys,

We'll be on the Regal on Sunday. As normal with us we put cash down instead of using a CC. Can we get cash off our account at the casino or do we need to go to customer service in the atrium to get cash?

thanks

Cash you put down on board or by pre purchasing OBC, I'm pretty sure there is a difference.

Of you pre-purchase once or put down cash you can take it out in the casino. But I thought you still had to have a cc registered.

That's very confusing. It's not clear what you're trying to do. Why would you want to put cash on your account and then withdraw cash from your account?

I should clarify what I mean by OBC. We purchased $500 in OBC a few months ago so that anything we spend on board would be paid for with cash. This would include spending in the casino on the tables for instance. Lets say I want to withdraw $100 of the $500 and use it on one of the tables - can I just go to the cashier in the casino and withdraw $100? If I wanted to withdraw $100 to use on shore - can I go to the cashier the night before and withdraw it?

It is very easy to get cash at the casino. Just give your card to a dealer if you are playing a table game. Whenever you wish leave the table and take chips to the cashier to get cash.

You can just enter your card in a machine, load cash then "cash out." Take the payment slip to the cashier for cash.

I have successfully used both methods.

If you goto the c ashier to ask for cash from your room account they will charge you 3% If you set up an account IN A SLOT MACHINE and put $100 in the machine and then cash out and go to the cashier and ask to cashout from your card it will be free

I've not used the casino but I'm not sure you can use cash there. We need a casino expert here to answer your question.

Yes, to both your questions. I do a cash account often, put 1000. in when getting on the ship, no different than purchased OBC. I have even gone to CR and received cash from my cash acct., this being on both the Ruby and Crown.

OK, here’s a new twist to this question.

Can you use this cash out strategy by using any OBC at the slot machine? Everyone here talked about putting cash (pre-cruise) onto their OBC and then getting this money out as cash once on board. My question is can you use this cash out strategy by using OBC that was given to you by Princess? This would be OBC from a sales promotion, or from stock holder credit or something similar.

If yes, then has someone actually done this?

Yes. I've done it several times.

Thank you! It’s good to hear this from someone who has actually done this.

It’s hard for me to believe that Princess ever intended for OBC, given to passengers, to be cashed out. Although, I don’t know how they would separate the OBC they gave you and the OBC that you bought with your own money.

If you pre-purchased OBC this credit will appear as a credit on your on board account as refundable OBC, along with any other promo OBC that you may have. All on board expenses will be posted to your account as they occur, and your account will be netted. Expenses include things like the daily hotel charge (auto-tip), beverages, specialty dining, tours, purchases and casino. In the casino just provide your cruise card to the dealer, or insert it in the slot machine, and indicate how much you want to risk. That amount will be charged to your on board account and netted against any debit or credit balance. You don't specifically designate how and which OBC is used. The system automatically uses non-refundable OBC first then the refundable.

YES, cash is always welcome in the casino: slot machines accept it as do the table games.

From what the OP stated, and then clarified, the OP purchased OBC's prior to the cruise.... in all likelihood using a credit card and NOT cash.

So for those suggesting to just bring cash... I think the OP wants to avoid that.

The casino is NOT INTENDED TO BE A FREE ATM MACHINE!!

Those that brag on here about how easy it is to get cash without playing are taking advantage of the system.

I'm actually IN FAVOR of Princess returning the the old policy of CHARGING A FEE to make a room charge for casino funds. One of the other big three does (NCL) and maybe it's time to return to this fee.

It would save Princess money through reduced merchant fees for processing credit cards and reduce the flow of cash out by those that use this loophole.

Of course myself and those that do a considerable amount of gambling would have those fees waived or refunded, as was the old policy when the fee was in place.

The only ones hurt by this change could be guests who are small to moderate casino users in that they would not qualify for the waiver.

Sure, this could cost the casino some gaming revenue... or not.

But going back to the policy at the very least would eliminate these threads, perhaps leaving us with only formal night and beverage policy to moan and scheme about circumventing. (And some wonder why CC Forums are looked down upon by the lines.)

The place to deal with a credit balance due to extra purchased OBC is guest services. And I believe other threads have commented that of the options, receive a cash payout over $25 is NOT an option.
