Weird questions.... how LATE can you get off boat?

Trying to find some last minute flights for the cruise next month. My darling wife decided we should fly instead of drive.

All the cheaper tickets are with a 2-4pm departure, and I really don't want to sit at the airport for 5 hours waiting on a flight.

We are in the haven if that matters. Just wondering how late we could expect to possibly wait to get off the ship?

usually we are self-check-out folks at 8am, but this time not so much.

We usually get off the ship around 9.00, I believe that the latest you can get off the ship is somewhere between 9.00 AM and 10.00 AM - the time varies in different ports/on different ships.

It's not a weird question at all. On a few occasions, late afternoon flights have meant that we are in no rush to leave.

As stated above, you need to be out of your room fairly early. Ideally, they want you off the ship by 9am but if you settle down in a public area somewhere then you could probably stay until around 10.

However, we have always found that by about 9.30 we decide that we may as well just leave and hang around elsewhere. I think you will have done well if you last much longer than that.

I'm not sure that being in the Haven would make much difference.

So....either sit and wait on the cruise ship or sit and wait at the airport. Either way you're sitting around. 10 is about the latest you'll be able to hang around, and transportation options out of the port really start to dwindle around then.

You can always do an NCL city tour that last day to avoid sitting in the airport.

Even if you stay on until the very end you are going to be off the ship by 10:00 unless CBP pulls some type of surprise inspection.

On the occasions we have flown home on the same day as disembarkation we have taken the NCL excursion with airport drop off. It has kept us from the mind numbing boredom of just sitting waiting. We have done this 3 times. Once to see alligators in Miami, once to Montserrat in Barcelona and once a tour of Rome. We enjoyed all 3 of the tours and we felt the day was not just wasted.

For me, I want off the ship early. I tried to hang around a time or two on the last day, but it is very depressing to just sit in a public area and watch the crowd slowly dwindle. There really isnt anything else to do. Personally I would rather people watch at the airport than watch the crew vacuuming and scrambling to get the ship ready for the next group of passengers.

But again that is just me.

I seen you mentioned this later about a post cruise excursion and that could work well, we did the "Big Bus" thing before and that worked real well if you have time to kill, you are able to go throughout Miami and get on and off the bus to eat and shop etc. and then as it gets closer to your flight time they provide transportation to the airport. We are going on a cruise in April and we have hired a private Escalade to pick us up at port and take us to Southbeach to eat and do some shopping then to the airport so we are not stuck waiting for hours at airport. Private driver may sound expensive but if you have more then 4 people it pretty much turns out to be less then most other options.

It matters. Tell the concierge that you want to be the last off the ship. Wait somewhere in the Haven and when you must leave the concierge will escort you off the ship.

A post cruise excursion is an alternative but then you have to be amonge the first off the ship, do you want that?

We typically stay in the Haven and leave the room around 9:30 without any issues. They will not push you to leave by 8am. The concierge escorts us off the ship at 10am.
