Smoke free casino experiment

We were on the Nov 19th sailing of Enchantment and the casino was non-smoking during that cruise. There were signs at guest services. Went to the casino bar one night and the casino was packed; there was a 2 for 1 martini special at the casino bar. Roulette table was too crowded for me to play.

Having cruised on RC / Norwegian/ Celebrity + Cunard......

and finding that RC + Norwegian are smelly smoke pots due to the smoking in the casino ~~~~~ and the air is even worse on some of the RC ships , with the TALL central atrium design, the smoke drifts everywhere....

Its a simple choice. I only cruise on Celebrity and Cunard.

We can make Powerful statements with our wallets/ spending .

I never realised you could smoke in the casinos, on Voyager now and there is pretty permanent no smoking signs. The same was the case on Radiance and Rhapsody and the casinos were always very crowded so I can't see the issue with non-smoking casinos.

Thanks for that information. Is that the whole casino or just part of it? (Hoping for the former)

Would love to have non-smoking Casino! They would get Much more of our $ if non-smoking! Currently on a ship (for 3rd week in a row) and smoke is horrible. Poor ventilation. Can't "air out" as smokers are in there even when casino not open. Numerous people in there in the evenings smoking and NOT playing AND NOT drinking. Just taking up chairs blocking the machines. They don't even pretend to gamble. They just squat on a stool facing away fom the machines and puff away!

So what???

It is non of your business what they do - you do not own the ship or make the rules....

It was the whole of the casino, no smoke at all. I just checked at the casino bar and it is the rule on cruises from Australia that the casinos are smoke free, :D

Wrong! It is my business since I am a non-smoking gambler with lung issues! My time in the casino is limited due to the smoke and also my business when they are blocking access to machines I would like to play! I am currently on a ship and experiencing this every evening!

You have the right to your opinion and I have the right to my opinion!

OP was not being rude, just being honest.

It's quite possible to be rude and honest at the same time.

As for the "experiment", I doubt it's a real thing that's happening. I would think RC has all the data they would need to know how much non smoking casinos would affect profitability, with Celebrity having non-smoking casinos and certain RC sailings having them as well.

I hope it happens on every ship everywhere personally, but that's just my preference. No doubt there are smokers who wouldn't use a non-smoking casino, and there also people like me who would use it much more. Would it balance out? Who knows but it's only a matter of time before there won't be any indoor smoking on cruise ships.

How did I miss this... this was just after our Enchantment Cruise... the Casino crew, for the most part... didn't like the smoke as us as well...

I made lots of waves (but played a lot to help prove a point)...

Maybe what we are telling Royal and especially Club Royale is paying off. Unfortunately, I don't believe the 4 day cruises make a lot of money for the Casino.... very few players....

The last two cruises and the next two we are all in, playing, and stomping our feet, to end smoking in the Casino.

This the Australian Government caring for our health!

Laws in Oz are the strictest in the world for visiting cruise ships.

Maybe Donald will follow.

Mrs Ski,

Do you think this is partially due to the loss of the cigar lounge?
