ldlewis45 Posted February 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2017 I just got a huge price drop on my September 10th Breakaway Bermuda cruise, almost $800! Got to keep my OBC, drink package, and internet package, too. I would have been okay with paying the original booking price, but it's always nice to save a bit of money! This will help cover the price of the NYC hotel for a few days prior to the cruise, so I can go see all my museums.

BLACKBURNROVERS Posted February 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2017 I just got a huge price drop on my September 10th Breakaway Bermuda cruise, almost $800! Always intrigues me as to how this happens. Did NCL contact you and tell you that the price had been lowered or did you contact them.? Did they simply agree that their original price was no longer valid and changed your contract?

As long as you are before final payment, you can get price adjustments. You're basically cancelling and rebooking the cruise under new terms, so you have to make sure that whatever you're gaining is better than what you already have. On mine, the only thing that changed was price.

Not everybody can cancel and not lose their deposit so it is not as simple as you say to get a price adjustment
casofilia Posted February 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 17, 2017 I believe that in the USA or using an NCL Miami PCC you can cancel/rebook before final payment with no charge. However in the UK using a TA (and maybe an NCL PCC)that may not be true.

I'd hope that if there was a net loss or if you weren't satisfied with whatever the new terms would be, that it would be a no-brainer not to do a price adjustment. davidmackv Posted February 17, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 17, 2017 I looked at the cabin I booked and the price is the same, but it now comes with $100 OBC. Should I call and see if I can get the OBC?

Should I call and see if I can get the OBC? I'd at least call and see if there are any catches and to make sure you won't lose any perks (extra latitudes points, if you booked 9+ months out, for example), and if not, then go for it. $100 is several drinks, or a dinner or two in one of the pay restaurants. It's definitely worth a 5 minute phone call, IMO.

We booked a 7 day cruise to Western Mediterranean, we paid 4800 dollars total for a balcony cabin, We booked it on board because we wanted the prepaid gratuities. As soon as we got home and our travel agent got our reservation the price was lowered 1800 dollars :D. Now that same cruise in October is 849 per person so we canceled and booked it again saving all that money, we also got 350 dollars on board credit :). We are pretty happy. (drops seem to never work for me ) I have taken advantage of price drops through CAS though not recently, it really depends on the type of booking it was originally. I have changed one booking a few times in the last month & I scored an awesome deal for October, I was comped an H7, paid $200 to go to the H6 and received 5 promos including KSF, I also have the select value promos & the Latitude promo. We also have 2 Platinum Plus in the cabin. In all the perks value is twice what I am paying for the cabin. My amenity sheet is 2 pages long. :p

I personally feel that it is morally wrong to be allowed to cancel at will and be able to book again without any penalties. If you wish to cancel, any deposit should be lost. Just my opinion which will be probably not be shared by the majority of posters on this web site

Sotermarler Posted February 18, 2017 #22 Share Posted February 18, 2017 So there was a $200 price drop on my October Breakaway cruise, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I currently have, UBP/w4th pass free, double Lat points, plus $100 Lat OBC, NCL Selects (100 mins, internet, 2x$25 casino play, 4x$50 OBC, photo something and unlimited room calls) If I took the $200 price reduction I would still get UBP/4th free and $100 obc. I'm better off keeping my current fare right? Sent from my iPad using Forums

They sure do not make it easy to check prices...

They sure do not make it easy to check prices... I would get an email from them but as far as NCL/CAS bookings go you only know when you get that coding on your invoice. When that happened I called and asked why there was no discount on his room and they said they cannot discount a TZOO price. I waited a few months and the price dropped through NCL and I was able to change the price and get the normal 2nd room discount of 10%. I changed his booking again when that date became a Select Value/Dash sale/Latitude promo, at that point the port charges went up about 3 bucks pp but he gained $200 OBC, & the other perks so he's pretty happy. The only thing you can do is wait it out and keep checking the prices.
