Recommended Posts

Surprised...Looks like they are going into Berth One of Pier 88....I thought they'd go into Two....

Just as you posted this I was checking VesselFinder and saw that the Bliss was halfway in. Surprised by how real time it was.

How was your weather in August? Must have been pretty good to be braving September this time :):D:D:D:D:D:-D

The weather was great. Granted, I am from CA and love any rain I can get. It only rained in Ketchikan and started right as we had finished kayaking. The good thing about going late season is that the whales are in migration and there are a lot more wildlife out including the bears getting Salmon! The crew told us that those sailing in May, June and even July encountered a lot more ice and some couldn’t get in close to the glaciers because of it.

Weather is really unpredictable in Alaska. You can’t really make comparisons of different months or even years.

I did the last cruise NCL had out of Alaska last September/October. We had rain at our first port, Fairbanks. This was pretty much what we expected. The next day was sunny and sun was all we had for the remainder of the 10 day cruise. Wow!

At several ports we were told by locals that we were having unexpected weather as it had been cool and wet all summer long.

It goes to show you that you go to Alaska for the scenery not the weather. And sometimes you luck out with the weather.

Definitely! We love rain and cold so it doesn’t matter to us. My brother is from Alaska so he has told us the same thing. The boat has so many things going on too. We sailed on a much smaller boat and still didn’t get to see all we wanted to with comedy shows and fun things. We slept a lot when not on excursions and eating and drinking 🤣

Yeah....pretty hard to get any ship other than the Riverboat Discovery to Fairbanks...:D

I am thinking that this person was probably referring to a land and sea combined tour, that maybe started by flying in to Fairbanks..:)

Can I ask you a few silly questions? What does one wear to and in the thermal spa? How long do you stay in there? It sounds awesome, but i have never done anything like that.

You wear a swim suit and they provide robes and towels.

Have loved following the live threads but still have a couple of questions in any of you could answer:

1- Did anyone see the Prohibition show? Any details? Cost?

2- What were your favorite 'Local' items. The new menu looks interesting.

3- In the casino, were there the same type of machines in the non-smoking area as in the smoking area? (In case I have to search for my favorite machines.)
