Do they give you a lanyard with the Sail and Sign card? or where do people keep them?

I have bought nice lanyards in the gift shops for about $10. I don't get holes punched in my cards, I get the lanyards with the rectangular clear plastic holder attached. I put my ship card & driver's license in them, so they are handy when returning from a port. Depending on the port, I may put the whole thing in my purse or beach bag. If I'm dressed for dinner it goes in my dressier purse. Never thought it was tacky, but whatever...different strokes for different folks.

I let it up to my husband to carry the cards...but in all seriousness, no lanyards for us (yuck)....pockets and if no pockets, then stuff them somewhere...top, bottom...where ever ;)

"Stuff them somewhere" is far more "yuck" to me than a lanyard. But to each their own

Personally, I will often carry mine tucked between the pages of a book. When I sail solo, and even when I'm with friends/family, I am rarely seen without a book.

This thread makes me want to find a cute jewelled one for my upcoming trip though... I've got some ideas where to shop too! Thanks all!!

I wear mine during the day and have some fancy lanyards. However I was happy to use the free casino one on our last Carnival cruise and I just unclipped it night if I carried a wristlet. I think it's part of the fun of cruising, and I guess I don't care if people think I'm a dork.

Ah, I'm sorry. I know a lot of people do carry them in bras - I find that kinda gross.

Surely the bartender washes his hands between swiping that breast card and dropping a lime in your drink. :o

To settle this right now: you can take my lanyard from my cold dead hands! That Cruise Card regardless of Cruise Line, remains permanently attached to my body at all times.

I can't wait for Medallion Class and Wrist bands, I will be completely at ease with that model! There is a reason I exclusively Cruise: SAFETY. They take care of me. Period. I make it easy on the Cruise Personnel to do their jobs by keeping that thing attached. No. Matter. What.

Hub App: I leave 4/1 for Mexican Riviera and am very disappointed to read the surcharge for chat. Princess Crand Panama Canal Adventure has free app with free chat and fully interactive Customer Portfolio and Event and Excursion interfaces. Boo. Hopefully the Hub will provide some value.

Every one have fun! Sparkly jeweled bedazzled glittered lanyards RULE!!!!

PS not true on Sr stereotypes I literally will turn 50 on my 4th Cruise!!

I don't wear one. Its kinda tacky to me imo. I dont wear my credit cards and debit cards around my neck so why would i with my s&s card? Seems kinda juvenile imo. No offense to people who do it, just not for me

IMHO,I have to agree.

Also,if the lanyard is worn out of the port area,it can be a tip off as to being a tourist... that and the bags given to passengers by the cruise line or the striped beach towels.

Buy in advance on Amazon for much cheaper than on the cruise. Definitely get one that has a detachable clip as well as a key ring type. At guest services on the ship they can hole punch the card. You don't want it in a sleeve as it easily comes out and gets lost.

A girlfriend of mine made me a lovely beaded lanyard along with matching anklet - instant jewelry! What's really nice is that it is long enough that I can show it to the waiters, and often unlock my door, without having to take it off or get real close.

We were given the free ones from the casino one cruise and one broke almost immediately. I would not trust those for your S&S card unless you have no issues with standing in line at guest services to get a new card once the lanyard breaks and you lose your card.

Elegant nights I do have a small hand purse to carry my card in. I always feel a bit silly with a purse for nothing but the card, but much less likely for me to lose it that way.

I use a little wristlet purse for my phone and lanyard since my daytime cruise wear consists of beach gear or excercise gear. For my s&s card I use a wristlet coil landyard so it can just stay on my wrist. Its really convenient if I'm going somewhere in a pinch.

With Carnival the Hub app is only $5/device for the chat feature for the duration of your cruise to talk to other people in your family/party. I think most families/ Carnival cruisers want their phones now to communicate with others in their party.

That said, they should also enable the Hub app so you can pay with it. Just like Samsung Pay or Apple Pay or any other card service. I have several of my credit cards on my phone, my Kroger card, my Sheetz card, etc. I use my phone to pay with a lot of stuff. It would be nice if that would be an option as well in addition to the other methods mentioned. Pay for everything on the ship, open your door, etc with your phone!

Could you please tell a little more about this app? We always turn our phones off when we get on the cruise so we don't incur any large fees. However, we would love to keep in touch with our 18-year-old daughter while on board......

I always use the one from the casino but not around my neck. Most of my pants have belt loops, so I attach it to my belt loop and then put it in my pocket. I spend quite a bit of time in the casino and this helps me not to forget my card in a machine.

The problem comes when I'm not wearing pants. I don't wear it around my neck because it would bug me. So when not wearing pants, I have to carry a small bag.

This year I've decided to order one of the beaded necklace type lanyard & hope that with a magnet closure it will be convenient to unlatch to open the cabin door or place in a slot machine

I don't like carrying anything while on board so I do the lanyard. You don"t need a credit cards but I carry my phone sometimes for photos etc, but I just hold it. So go with what works for you!

I won't lie, I thought you were a guy posting this and I got a little concerned haha. Go back and read it again thinking it's a man.
