Do they give you a lanyard with the Sail and Sign card? or where do people keep them?

Since most of my cruising is Caribbean, and mostly swimming ports, I use a water wallet. The little plastic case on a lanyard. It works well to carry your ship card, and when you go to town, your credit card and cash. Plus you can swim with it so you don't need to leave it on the beach.

I just use small thin wallet that has SS card, credit card and some cash in it. Not bulky at all. I keep it in my pocket or a string backpack while I am out and about on the ship or port. The free ones in the casino are junk. I would not depend on using one of those.

You probably don't need to carry your cell phone around the ship. Wifi can get very expensive, so I'd recommend keep it in the safe.

With Carnival the Hub app is only $5/device for the chat feature for the duration of your cruise to talk to other people in your family/party. I think most families/ Carnival cruisers want their phones now to communicate with others in their party.

That said, they should also enable the Hub app so you can pay with it. Just like Samsung Pay or Apple Pay or any other card service. I have several of my credit cards on my phone, my Kroger card, my Sheetz card, etc. I use my phone to pay with a lot of stuff. It would be nice if that would be an option as well in addition to the other methods mentioned. Pay for everything on the ship, open your door, etc with your phone!

That's the exact model behind the wrist bands that will inevitably be coming to a ship near you. You won't even need to tote your phone around. You'll feel like a modern day Dick Tracy or Secret Service agent. :D

Yea I am familiar with the writstbands from Disney. But you would still have the wristbands and your phone. You still would have your phone anyway for communication on the ship (via Hub app) but would also be able to do everything else.

Land yards on reflection last month that I bought kept ripping and they wouldn't give me my money back? Bring one and the front desk puts a hole in it for you. It's easy hanging around your neck who care what it looks looks like? It's convenient!!

Keep it on a lanyard in my beach bag purse whatever so it is easier to find as opposed to just the card which we've misplaced many times:) Think about your keys at home on a keychain or just the key?? Just more practical:)

We seem to think a lanyard is a generational thing as it is mostly the senior set that tends to wear them. When on Shore anywhere I don't want to be screaming "I am a tourist" come rob me! You will stick out anyway as a tourist but we just do not want to advertise it even more.

Waterproof, holds both phone and S&S card, cash and credit cards and becomes a lanyard too. We use these for both sailing and port days and it's a complete solution for our vacation needs.

Also has a carabiner which clips to swim trunks so your valuables remain with you while in the water.

Well I guess I'm a cruising dork as well. Always wear a lanyard around the ship so I don't leave it laying somewhere. I have the detachable type that I can give the bartender the card for a drink without having to take it off. Very convenient.

While in the MDR I detach and carry in my pants pocket. While in port, I may or may not wear depending on what we are doing.

I don't obsess about whether people wear them or not, but I do tend to see more with them than without.

This. We just picked some up with our beloved college logo. Detachable. Around our neck when no pockets at pool. Separate and in pocket when that option exists. As someone mentioned, works a little like a key chain that way.

You should just be sure that wherever you store your S & S card that it is no where near your phone. The magnetic stripes deactivate sometimes when stored near a phone. I have no idea why but it has happened to me many times. I just keep my card in my back pocket or in a small crossbody purse I take on vacations.

Offering a guess here - but I wonder if the small magnets used by the iPhone would be strong enough to act like a degausser - and wipe/scramble the mag strip. I wouldn't think so, but...
