Dinner in an Owners Suite

Seriously? Trying to get a bigger table smashed into your cabin so you can have a dinner in there with guests? All while you have to call down your room service orders staggered? This can't be a serious thread.... Why in the world would anyone do such a thing? Why wouldn't you just go enjoy a quiet specialty restaurant with actual service?

Yes this is a serious thread! An Owners Suite is a much larger room ( with a much larger price tag) and already has a table for 4 and from all of the pictures I have seen can handle a much larger table, or another small one! I have reservations in most specialty restaurants; however, I chose this room because I wanted a quite dinner in our room that I spent over 17K for! It is my daughters 18th birthday on this cruise and my wife and I wanted to have a birthday party for her without embarrassing her!

 

Ya. We know. Everyone here knows that suites( especially an OS) cost more than a balcony. You don't need to keep flaunting it.

 

Many people here sail star class and they don't ask for new furniture to be delivered to accommodate their wishes.

 

You book the cabin you book. This cabin has a table that seats 4.

OK, so the room we have is not your typical balcony room, I have spent a lot more than the typical room, so no I am not out of line asking to have special dinner in my suite that I have paid for and is designed for! as for putting my CS is difficult position I do believe that I can not be the only one who has ever asked for this! Like I stated before this type of room is designed to have dinner in it!

 

Well, they put a Dining table in the room, if that was meant to have a room designed to have dinner in it.... I have my doubts. ;):rolleyes:.

 

If they had that in mind, they might have had designed a procedure to actually serve you a dinner in there, other than their room Service.;)

 

IMO it doesn´t matter much if there´s enough room for it. The Suite Comes with a table Fitting 4 and it might be reasonable to ask for two additional chairs, but certainly not for a different table size.

 

Now the other Point is are you planning to have said dinner for six in the Suite or out on the balcony?

 

If in the Suite ask for two chairs an be done with it, if out on the balcony

No doubt on that, just not sure how that would work for 6 and how intimate and quiet that would be.

 

Not to mention how happy the neighbours might be, who actually try to have that quiet and intimate Moment on their balcony, about that 6 diners having a BD Party out there.:rolleyes:

Ok, so I guess were going to go down this rabbit hole, why not I have time, I simply asked a question! Others gave me answers on the topic I asked ( and I was grateful for that), yet some thought it was ok to make rude comments! I clearly know that the room has 4 chairs; however, my sister and her husband is cruising with us! We live many hours away from us and enjoy the time we get to spend together, so i thought it would be awesome if we could have a birthday dinner for my daughter, in a room that was designed to have dinner in it! I did not mean to offend you with the fact that I have budgeted for a more expensive room, a room I may add that comes with certain perks! When you book a cabin that has a concierge or a Genie, those folks have a job, that job is to take care of any special requests that one may need. I am not asking them to break a rule nor was I asking for them to takeaway from anyone else's vacation! I was simply asking if anyone had done this in the past, I didn't ask for people who have nothing to do but say rude things to comment on a post that I started to see if I can make our daughters birthday very special! :*

You didn't offend me. You just stated the obvious, I have 2 Star Class voyages coming up- and when I post reviews etc of such I won't consistently remind people that they cost more than a regular room like you did.

The artist rendering for Quantum class that is shown in the Royal Suite Class information on the Royal Caribbean website does show a dining table and 4 chairs on the balcony of the Owners suite. The video I found by kcjarvis doesn't show a table that big, it shows a dining table and two chairs. Not sure if that is unique to this one cabin or all Owners suites but based on the artist rendering, I would have expected a table for four on the balcony too.

Well, I was asked if I was serious??? Why would I cram a table in a room???? Ive been told that would make our CS feel bad! I seriously doubt that a lot of cruisers understand that when you see folks being escorted off the ship faster, that those people have paid for that service! Or when you see folks escorted to a show and they get to sit right up front, there is a cost for that also ( I have herd many people say nasty things to those people)! I seriously doubt that a lot of folks understand that a concierge is there to help you with any special requests, including helping with a special dinner in your suite or balcony! So yeah for that kind of money I don't think I was asking anything out of line, and I only mentioned money when others began to make rude comments! I wish I would have just called RCC and asked, I cannot believe how rude people can be when someone asks a question! If you have something good to contribute to a conversation Great! if not then don't! When did this country get so nasty!

The question I was answering wasn't about 6 on the balcony, it was having full dinner in your cabin at all.

 

We did 4 on 2 tables for Thanksgiving. It was really cool. And it was a GS not an OS.

Except that it matters that it's an OS vs a GS. It's a lot easier to have 6 for dinner in a OS than a GS.

Well, when we have dinner, it's generally not a noisy event, so I don't think the neighbors would even notice we are having dinner outside.

 

Personally, I also don't think having a birthday dinner on your balcony is so bad for your neighbors, as well. If someone is going to spoil their kids, let them. It's only one night.

There is no where that says you can only have dinner in the room and not on the balcony, let alone that it has to be for the max number of guests in the cabin. Where is the link to this fictional information?

So, you "seriously doubt" your fellow cruisers understand why other guests board the ship first, or why there's a section of reserved seats at the shows? With the exception of first-time cruisers...people know these things. The general population isn't stupid. Things like this are.....obvious. Common sense tells us as a society why things are the way they are. Take for example traveling by air: Anyone who has flown on a plane can figure it out: First-class passengers board first, and so on.

Perhaps a small percentage of regular guests do give an eye-roll, but I bet for every one that does, there is an equal percentage of suite guests who present themselves in such a way that warrant it:

My 2 cents. We've stayed in an OS a few times. Not trying to impress by saying how much we spent, I don't give a s**t. The in suite dinner was a big disappointment, only because all the food was brought at the same time, meaning by the time we got to our entrees they were cold. Never again. Specialty restaurants are the way to go for special occasions.

There are ships that have a tub out on the balcony. And you can host parties in your suites.

 

And many suites (including GS's) are up to 4 passenger cabins (for sleeping). So it's no unreasonable to think that a family and some grandparents will have dinner in the suite and perhaps on the balcony.

 

In other words, the way suites currently work, your "rule" doesn't make sense.

 

We've been upgraded to GS's a few times, and every time we try to have dinner on the balcony. Given the situation, having a slightly cold entree is not a big deal. On the other hand, having dinner with your family, even if it's 6- priceless.

We've had dinner in an Owners Suite. Not that special really. If you want the white glove service, table set properly, tablecloths, etc, then you really need to book a luxury cruise like Seabourn. Alternatively you need a class of suite that gets you a butler or equivalent. As others have mentioned, a specialty restaurant would probably be more enjoyable.

max number of pax to be booked in an OS is 4. therefore, by any reasonable assumption, 'dinner en suite' is based on 4. sure you can have parties and fit more people in there, I myself have had almost 20 in my OS at one time during a cabin crawl. 4 or 5 on the balcony and the rest poking around the cabin and bathroom.

 

it is not a rule, but it is what any reasonable person would assume to be standard. to demand larger or extra furniture brought in to accommodate more is showing a lack of class by the person making said demands.

 

personally, i think trying to have dinner in the cabin is more trouble than it is worth. lunch or breakfast is much easier to manage.

I've never stayed in on OS only a GS, so forgive me if this is incorrect, but isn't the table on the balcony a little small for a family of 6 to eat off? We had breakfast on our balcony in our GS and we were only two people and found it to be a bit small. I realise the owners suite might have a slightly bigger table on the balcony, but I wouldn't think it would be big enough for 6. And as to the hot tubs on the balcony that someone mentioned, I didn't think owners suites had tubs on the balcony - I thought that was royal suites or higher category, so not sure what that has to do with this.

We were 3 on an OS on the Vision with a huge balcony. But, it was only set up for 2 people.. They could not give us a lounge or dining chair for our third person---told us there wasn't any extra furniture available.

They did bring a folding chair from the kitchen, so we could eat together
