Majestic Princess 6 month Australia Season announced

I predict there will be a mutiny onboard during the first Aussie voyage - due to insufficient bars in the inside public areas. :D

No Crooners, no Wheelhouse Bar, where will we have our pre- and post-dinner drinks?

I posted this on the thread at the top where CC announced this idiotic thing before I saw this thread. This is the more appropriate spot for it so... I apologize for the blatant cut and past of my own post. However, I am doing it anyway.

Holy Cow! I thought Majestic Princess was heading directly to China. I have to wonder about the folks who decided that the Aussies would love a ship that has had the bars removed and replaced with Karaoke areas that you have to rent. I guess they must have just figured, "Hey! The folks down under don't drink much so let's put the ship there for a year or so..."

It's great that Australia finally gets a new ship but is this really the one they have been asking for? No Crooners. No Explorer's. No Wheelhouse. clear.png?emoji-eek-1725 At least there are Karaoke Suites.

Looks like we'll be sailing from Sydney then in 2018 / 2019. Cannot wait. Nearly booked a Sydney to Bali cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises yesterday. Really glad we didn't.

Great timing. On board Majestic this Sunday. Will buy some FCC whilst on board and then book another Majestic cruise a few days after we get back 😍

Thankfully we love the Royal Class ships.

Hi,hope you come back with the same attitude. This ship is nothing like the other Royals.Although someone suggested it could be refitted for western tastes, but I doubt it,cheers,Brian.

Don't forget all the extra high end shops. Also only the central pool area that is open to the sea air. The Hollywood Pool Club and Conservatory are totally covered. Chair hogging, which usually isn't too bad on Aussie cruises, will be rife around the main pool.

The Aussies will not like this ship in its current configuration, as posted above many bars missing, No bar in the Buffet and I don`t recall seeing a bar in the Vista gaming lounge, although we never went in there in the evening.

The Aussies might be converted to bubble tea and Mah Jong :o

Forward sales in china must be slow!

I was thinking the same thing too. Why would Princess Cruises build a ship specifically made for China only to bring it down to Australia?

The answer I'm getting is due to overestimation of the growth in the China market and with the boycott of Korea from China, majestic has little itineraries to offer.

Royal does the same season change to, with their ships re-positioning to Singapore or Australia from Sep to March. The thing is whether Princess is sending Majestic to challenge Ovation in Australia?

Then you have to wonder if NCL will do the same thing with Norwegian Joy too?

Hi,I think another poster hit the nail on the head when she said it is probably to avoid the typhoon season, cheers,Brian.

Hi, Make sense, but don't you think Princess would have already figured out the typhoon season long before they decided to build the ship to specifically cater to the Chinese market? And if they wanted to escape the typhoon season, they wouldn't have stayed in China and would have re-position her to Australia in 2017 during the winter season in China (summer season in Australia)

Nope! Typhoon season in China is from May to early November with the peak between July and September - exactly when she is still in the Northern Hemisphere.

She arrives down under in September, just in time for our cyclone season.

I suspect they've found that bookings during the 2017/18 Chinese winter have been lower than expected so have decide to send her down to us for 2018/19.

I posted this on another thread and am copying-for accuracy-here.

If the Golden Princess is redeployed, my chances of sailing as an Elite on my Big Birthday Cruise are severely compromised. I cannot afford more than a Window Suite-was advised by a friend who cruised on the Sea Princess that the balcony door in her Suite was very heavy and hard to open when the ship is sailing, and she was concerned I'd pay the price for a Suite with balcony and not be able to use it. The Window Suites on the Golden are a good, practical and safe compromise-Suite perks at a very reasonable cost even sailing solo and a Handicapped Accessible Bathroom without a balcony which might not be safely accessible for me.

While the Diamond, Sea and Sun Princesses all have Accessible Oceanview staterooms, I DID thoroughly enjoy my breakfasts at Sabatini's-their scrambled eggs are delicious! Can't cook them myself but enjoyed them aboard! The Mini Bar and free laundry were also used, and the gorgeous robe and slippers meant I didn't need to pack a bulky robe.

I seems puzzling to me, with an aging population, that more Handicapped accessible staterooms aren't planned BUT I have honestly no idea what Princess is planning for the future. The Golden Princess was quite large enough for me, I didn't realise how exhausting just keeping my balance and finding my way around the ship would be for me. Fortunately I wasn't seasick, even if I did give myself a headache by enjoying the Welcome Glass of Sparkling Wine-forgetting I'd travelled partway by train to Circular Quay and with a history of unexpected travel sickness on trains as a kid, I had warily taken an approved medication and forgotten I shouldn't drink alcohol so the headache was self-inflicted.

Based on looking at the Melbourne and Sydney Port Schedules, the Golden Princess is sailing Melbourne-Sydney, the reverse of my cruise in, I think, October 2018. I hope I've read the schedules correctly, and am impatiently waiting for the 2018-2019 schedules to be released for Australia.

Someone from another post mentioned Golden will be home ported in Melbourne, while Sydney will get the Majestic and Diamond (shame no Sapphire, was hoping to see a different ship home ported in Sydney). I guess either the Sea or Sun will be home ported in Brisbane and the other Fremantle?

I wonder if this was apart of their original consideration, while building the Majestic. Considering the fact the Majestic was customized for the Chinese market. Without the bars, won't Princess lose a lot of revenue? Especially when its starts doing its sailings out of Australia. Are the cruise fares on the Majestic for the Asian or Australian sailings increasingly more expensive compared to other Princess ships, to make up for possible lost bar revenue?

Other than Crooners missing, the Majestic has most of the same bars as the Royal/Regal. Crown Grill Bar (formerly Wheelhouse), Bellinis, Vines, IC bar, Fountain Pool bar, Hollywood club bar, casino bar, wake view bar, and seaview bar. How many bars do aussies need??
