Seranlucas Posted June 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Hello! So I'm almost 19 years old and I'm going on liberty of the seas. I sometimes smoke and would like to buy a pack of cigs or two for the week. The problem is, I don't want my parents to know I smoke (I know). Is there a way I can pay cash or how will it pop up on the bill if I use my sea pass? Thank you!
Langley Cruisers Posted June 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2017 You cannot pay cash as life onboard is a cashless society for convenience' sake. Any purchase will show on your Sea Pass card, although it will usually say "gift shop" or something similar. Your parents may still question you. Perhaps take them with you. . Clarea Posted June 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Make friends with someone who smokes, and pay them cash to purchase. Oh, and welcome to Cruise Critic.
Ocean Boy Posted June 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Buy your cigarettes before you board the ship for your cruise? BTW, I can detect the stench of smoke a mile away. Your parents might know a lot more than you think.

matj2000 Posted June 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2017 If you "need" to smoke that bad. Bring them with you. You don't need to purchase them on the ship. Problem solved. One would think.....

Your parents might know a lot more than you think. Not to mention that other than certain parts of the casino and one side of the pool and promenade deck, there areas to smoke on board are very limited and the ship is not that big. Might not be too easy to sneak.

Langley Cruisers Posted June 4, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 4, 2017 BTW, I can detect the stench of smoke a mile away. Your parents might know a lot more than you think. Yes, absolutely agree with you on both points. I suspect the parents are about to find out anyway, especially if they are all staying in the same cabin. ;) OP Seranlucas, you certainly didn't ask for advice but Ima gonna offer mine anyway. Please do not smoke. I sit here with Stage 4 metastatic cancer in my body - lung cancer and other cancers - and I do not even smoke. It's awful. You are young with a presumably bright future ahead of you. Please try and quit... it will make a difference in your life. :) Have a fun cruise, though! Liberty is a wonderful ship. You'll enjoy the Flow Rider for sure. .
AdGuyMG Posted June 4, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 4, 2017 Is there a way I can pay cash or how will it pop up on the bill if I use my sea pass? A shipboard purchase will pop up on your sea pass account. Buy your cigs for cash at one of the ports you are stopping at.

Tatka Posted June 5, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 19, they are an adult.( mostly). if they are that afraid of mommy and daddy finding out they smoke, they deserve a lecture on acting like an adult No need to sound like that. If you substitute word afraid with not wanting them upset, you'll understand. We are occasional smokers in our mid forties and we are trying not to do it in front of them. Not out of fear, but because of a reason I mentioned above. OP, if you have your own credit card you can tie it to your account. Then you'll have your own statement. Autogratuities will be also charged to that account.
Langley Cruisers Posted June 5, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 5, 2017 ... come on. The poster is just asking for advice, not a lecture. Well aware of that but I don't know of a single smoking thread that doesn't include someone at least suggesting people not smoke. It's dangerous to your health, we all know that. mollyeilis Posted June 6, 2017 #22 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Giggling that you think your parents don't know... If you are old enough to consume a product that has been prove to cause major harm to your body, you are old enough to face the consequences when the 'rents find out Yep. I am not a smoker and never had been, but come on. The poster is just asking for advice, not a lecture. They are young and have made the CHOICE to do something that has been known to be absolute horrible, and it's been know for decades now. I have empathy for 70 year olds who became addicted in their teens and just cannot quit. I have zero sympathy for those who have made that choice since the time the warnings have been on packs. So they do need a lecture because they are willfully make an atrocious decision. So, I guess I can assume there is nothing you would like to stop doing, but haven't. What part of the OP makes you think they want to stop? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
