Nolalife Posted July 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2017 How strict is the MDR on the first night??? We have group t-shirts and want to wear them the first night...I figured it's easier than waiting on luggage, etc....Plus we have the early dinning time:cool:
Rare sparks1093 Posted July 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2017 I think it's more lax in the MDR on embarkation day because of luggage delivery.
drvmywifecrzy Posted July 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2017 its acceptable as long they are not offensive in nature
A&Jfamily Posted July 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2017 I think it's more lax in the MDR on embarkation day because of luggage delivery. This is correct because of the luggage issue. That said we have always had our luggage. If we have been to the pool or gotten sweaty we will still shower and change. frayedend Posted July 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Interesting that I was almost positive the Fun Times stated "come as you are" on the first night. But looking them up now I can only find it saying cruise casual. So I'm guessing I am wrong. Heck I may even be remembering when lunch was served in the MDR from a few years back. cb at sea Posted July 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2017 The 1st night is ultra-casual. You'll be fine.
SNJCruisers Posted July 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2017 As long as they are not offensive, you could wear them on five out of seven nights, even with a pair of Dockers shorts. The "dress up" nights require long pants and a collared shirt, but they have been lax with those rules. Gryphonette Posted July 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2017 FWIW, on the HAL Oosterdam there was a big family group wearing custom T-shirts at dinner in the MDR. [emoji1303] Sent from my iPad using Forums

After the first night though, you may be turned away (it happened to a friend of mine) if you do not abide by the dress code which does not include tee-shirts. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1093/~/what-to-wear---evenings Have a great cruise.
